  1. If that's an approved design, someone's head is cracked at Sunrise Manufacturing. I've seen some pretty poor quality control from them, but that's truly unacceptable. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. Can you tell us what the local conditions were? Hot or cool day? Humidity? Where was the rig packed and on what kind of surface? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. What? Learning to fly a canopy? It IS mandatory for an A license. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Really? So what is your reserve cable going to attach to? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. Yes. Sorry if that wasn't clear. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. Yes. Some will say not even then, it's a factory manufacture item only. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. Because it is no Rig without an AAD. It is a rig with an AAD in non-funtioning condition. Non-functioning component = bad juju.
  8. The evidence is there, I just haven't studied it. There have been quite a lot of saves on pilot rig technology. Most of them were prior to the invention of the ejection seat. Anyone know if Alan Silver posts here? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. Every asshole has an opinion. Those of us that are citizens call them "votes". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. I can't find anything saying it has been TSO'd on Paratec's website, but it should say somewhere on the container. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. The rubber band is used by some to control the excess control line on the PA/Eclipse and Icarus tandem canopies that results from those canopies not having an brake stow. The rubber band is half hitched to the center c or d lines and then a bight of line is slowed loosely within, in the effort to reduce line overs. I don't use it as I think packing cleanly does much more to prevent line overs (never had one on a pack job of mine) and I think the stow contributes to the formation of tension knots. But what do I know? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. Haven't seen them and can't find anything on the website about them. Got anymore information? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. Someone with a couple of hundred jumps, and a big head. It varies, but generally has to do with having a big ego, and the matching holier than though attitude that goes along with it. It's also a term some lower time skydivers can used to insult people that have the answers they don't want to hear. Similar to "Canopy Nazi" "Wingsuit Nazi" or "Camera Nazi". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. Naw, I was making a joke about Vladi, and/or Chris Martin doing the wingsuit tandems a few years back. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Option B. Now think about how the military static line rigs have their lines stowed. As for the pilot rig, I'm thinking that the higher risk of entanglement comes from the spring loaded P/C and bridle than the way the lines are stowed. And the I believe (without much actual evidence) that the malfunction rate for lines on the back pad is lower for that of a full stow diaper or a sleeve (which I haven't seen on a pilot rig). ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. It's old hat. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. And how are the lines stowed on the round you based? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. To Steve an JT, were the step through's unlandable? I've had about a 1/2 dozen, but never cut one away. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. They'd have a fucking lawsuit on their hands if they did search everyone. I can't stand the effects of the stuff myself, but when is the US going to give up on the witch hunt against marijuana? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. Too true. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. Yeah very sad. Also infuriating. Some 18 year old kid decides to "big dick it" and race down a runway. It's unfortunate he takes 4 other young people with him. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. The closure in your post is/has been responsible for at least 3 helmet losses I know of directly. The fix for it is the protective box/cover currently available on the new FTP. The latch I had on my FTP was the most secure thing I've seen yet. And very easy to remove in a hurry if needed. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
