Good luck!

It is the most politic absorbed business I've ever been involved with. There are very few who have the class and fortitude to remain above the fray. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Clarify your question. Are you asking if they are "unelectable" because one is black, and one is a woman? IMO no, neither of those things make them "unelectable". I'd like to think that things have progressed far enough in the US for that not to matter. Now the fact that neither gives a shit about the people of this nation, and are so out of touch with reality..... well that's another thing. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Don't go to an Emergency room for non-Emergency care. TANSTAAFL. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I'd pack better. Excellent job handling that situation!

Blue Skies Jerry. I only got to meet you a few times, but they were memorable, you're one heck of a personality, and the comradery and friendship you offered shows in those memories and smiles of those that call you "friend". ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Great point. I think that's simplifying the situation just a tad... Eh, I think to often people make things more complicated than they really are, and that is a leading cause of disagreement which leads to misunderstanding, and conflict. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. If you must have a bungee, your rig doesn't fit right. Possibly your container is to short for your back causing the lateral band to be too high. You cannot rely on a non structural piece of bungee to save you IMO. Maybe Jan's solution is best, and we should go back to a solid saddle type harness. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
-
If you have a properly fit harness, and you wear it correctly that bungee is not needed. They are helpful when the harness is not properly fitted, as they help to hold the leg straps in place. The bungee would NOT keep you in the harness by it's self during a premature deployment as it would not withstand the load. It does however help to keep the leg straps positioned correctly so that they may take the load and the bungee is never put to the test. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Not arguing your point, I just don't know much at all about the NEXT tandem system. Can you tell me what makes the above statement so, specifically the bit in bold? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
-
TSO's are not general but rather specific to a rig. In other words, while your Reflex ripcord may be a acceptable replacement from a safety standpoint, it is not acceptable from a legal standpoint. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

You didn't create this thread to thank anyone. You created it because you wanted to comment about me. I shows in the words you write. I don't know who you are, since you fail to identify yourself. You have also failed to understand my view, and perhaps that's my fault for not explaining things clearly enough. I think the Tunnels are here to stay, and they are a great tool. I think they improve a skydiver's performance in the freefall portion of the skydive immensely. Look at the top 4 way teams. Since they have started with the wind tunnels, non-tunnel trained teams can't even stay close. Tunnels are fun and are crating their own sport, look at the tunnel kids! They have a huge amount of body flight talelnt and skill. Would put me to shame in a competition in the tunnel. The point I make is they do not make someone a skydiver. They may make a skydiver better. Skydiving does not make a tunnel flyer. It may make a tunnel flyer better. People often want to "belong", but sometimes either don't want to, or can't put in the effort to do so. Wuffos have called themselves skydivers to other wuffos after doing a tandem. They've done the same thing after flying in the tunnel. Skydivers have called themselves BASE jumpers after one jump from the span in WV. You and I know the difference, but others don't. Derek Cox IS the perfect example. He's someone who has become proficient in BOTH areas. Skydiver and Tunnel Flyer. He's put in the work. I'm willing to bet that he had to work harder in the areas not covered in tunnel flight to be successful on the HD record, but that his tunnel training assisted him in that endeavor. Kudos to him. As for JackJR. He is pissed because he had a shortcoming pointed out to him by me. His ego cost him some pride and now he has a vendetta. Hope that goes well for him, as he's the only one twisting himself up about it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I am instantly picturing the giant teeter-totter needed to make this happen. Thanks for the visual. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Weight was a few ounces lighter than my FTP, but my FTP was an old design and they are now lighter. I'd say they're about the same. L bracket for stills might be difficult, as the "forehead" of the helmet is curved. That's why the plate sticks out so far, you can "hang" your stills from it, or if you top mount everything like I did, trim it off. Mine came with one pocket, but 2 would be a cinch if requested I'm sure. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Luigi Cani attepmting the World Record with a VX37
diablopilot replied to Flyfast's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
IIRC he pretty regularly was jumping a VX in the low 70 square foot range for competition, but that was with quite a bit of lead. I'd like to see a comparison of the VX39 and the JVX37 laid out together. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
I'm not gonna tell you what to do, you don't listen to anyone any way, but if you learn to read a little better, you'll see I have never supported the idea that wind tunnels are a "passing fad". I think they are a wave of the future. I will however always remind people that wind tunnels are not skydiving, and there is much more to being a great and well rounded skydiver than tunnel proficiency, just as being a talented skydiver, rarely means one is a great tunnel flyer by default. Now since we're being so civil to one another, why don't you repeat that great landing from Oct 2005, the one with the airborne shoe, only make sure the pond is frozen. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. So it's essentially 6MP video. Cool.

By the term HD do you mean "High Definition", or "Hard Drive"? High Definition cameras are fine if the recording format is NOT Hard Drive, or DVD. Hard Drive cameras will not last as the lower air pressure will cause the hard drive platters to physically "crash" eventually. DVD cameras do not handle the vibrations of skydiving. Think what happens when you shake a CD player too much. MiniDV is the currently the most widely used recording media for skydiving, and I expect solid state (memory sticks/cards) to take over in the next few years. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. AG Mukasey STILL doesn't know if waterboarding is torture
diablopilot replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
I can attest that wakeboarding IS a form of torture. Last time "friends" made me try it, I almost ingested an entire lake. It should be ille......... oh, you were talking about something else. Carry on then. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
