Mr. Douglas DC-3 getting back in the air???
diablopilot replied to BillyVance's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Naw, "real" 10 way speed is "chunking" it out that door. Watch those elbows! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Sometimes even after repeated coaching of the front diver to launch out instead of down, they still fail to get the concept. When this occurs and I am unable to secure a different slot than rear diver for myself, I find launching forward HARD, driving the center diver into the forward diver and thus driving the forward diver into the forward door frame, seems to solve the issue. I've never had it take more than one exit with the above technique to effect change. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

If your sentiments are "sappy" then I'm a "sap". The single biggest thing I miss about being a tunnel instructor is sharing the experience with wuffos.

Send me a hat too! And say hi to Geno and Carroll! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I find explaining this concept to many foreigners to be very difficult. Maybe it's because they've not experienced "freedom" ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Well, it's official. Skydiving is dead. We used to have a technique to do what this devise does. It was called spotting. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I'm assuming your "students" were actually A license holders? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Has anyone operated a Navaho jumpship?

I know TTS (http://www.taupotandemskydiving.com/) has operated one n the past, give them a shout. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Good to meet you yesterday! Since it doesn't look like the tunnel is falling down all around you guys, you must be doing a great job! Keep it up! Look forward to flying with you some time. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Unfortunately if it's a properly filled out ballot, even if it's one of 100 that showed up in the same envelope that looks to be filled out by the same person, it's valid. Yeah, they know something's up, but according to what Larry Bagley said, if two show up and they are both properly filled out and "valid" ballots, the one that got time and date stamped first is the one recorded. Photocopy and get more votes thus possibly representing the wishes of the membership better, or don't photocopy and make sure you have more accuracy. Thought about it for two days and I still can't quite decide. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I addition to the above guidelines, think about talking with your pilot. Chances are if he/she's been flying jumpers for a while they have thought about these things and prepared for them, if they haven't been in the game long and have no skydiving experience, they probably want to talk with jumpers about things. I will always emphasize that the pilot is in command. Work with him/her. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Just as an add on statement, heavier can be good for reduced fall rate, but only if it's got a "soft hand". Too stiff of a fabric end's up being faster than a couple layers of a lighter soft fabric. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Yes. While not a wing suit pilot, I have seen someone on a tow rope behind a 182. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

February BOD minutes from the gallery
diablopilot replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Report from the Director of S&T (Jim Crouch) was that the TI in question was freeflying, specificaly sitflying with tandem students. It's against the BSR's and since the individul was not working in the USA, nor possesing a USPA TI rating, the punitive measure of the membership suspension was felt to send a message that the USPA could not condone such activity. At least that was my take of the issue. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

USPA - Jan Meyer Impeachment??

Seems that Jan's occupancy of a ND BOD position is safe for the time being. -

Not high enough, believe me I looked. And if I'd brought THAT rig with me, I'd probably be headed for Miami right now. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

USPA - Jan Meyer Impeachment??

We have no idea, but don't expect the issue to be that simple. There is a lot of behind the scenes stuff here and what is showing above surface is just the smoke screen. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
