    What is your point. There was nothing signifigantly wrong with the way that skydive was conducted. You think the Instructor should have prevented the roll? Have you ever heard the phrase "inhibiting learning"? I do not see where the instructor made any grievious errors, nor was the student in danger.     That used to be the case, but manufacturers have really stepped up to the plate in the last 5 years and are offering alot more container combinations for small mains and larger reserves.     1) what's your point? Your post seems to have very little to do with mine. Did you mean to reply to me? 2) you are right about not taking "Joe Blow's" word for things. Learning all you can for your self is the best course. However with well over 1000 video/photo jumps and having owned and used quite a collection of equipment, I believe I have some valuable advice to offer anyone who wants it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     The photos don't show much, but I don't see anything unsafe. If you've got a 150 Dash M in that container, it's going to be a bit "soft" meaning the wrinkles are gonna be hard to make go away. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    I know of a couple companies that sell all the equipment, but won't assemble it for you. The cost is quite a bit higher, and the only customers who take advantage of the service are military units buying "one offs" and are on bidding constraints. My subtle point was, if you can't be bothered to do the research, purchasing, and assembly of your own helmet, then camera flying might not be for you.     IMHO one thing that makes tunnel flying dangerous is the common misconception that it's "indoor skydiving". Different sports, different rules.

    That is an incredibly bad idea for any low time skydiver, as the emergency procedures are very different and most DZ's are not providing round reserve training any longer. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

    My advice to not alienate yourself on the DZ, is show up and be a part of things there. Mention if you like your interest in BASE, but don't be over excited about it. If someone says your interest is silly, don't take it personal, just learn what you can and move on. Learn to skydive not only for BASE, but become a good skydiver as well. There are plenty of non-physical skills you'll pick up through all forms of skydiving that will help you in a BASE enviorment.
