Pretty much the same here...but over 18 jumps as they have since updated the program to finish the student all the way thru the A license. We had to do our Valentines Celebration a week early due to Chris' schedule. So last week we were both on Vacation. We went up to Wisconsin to Ski for 3 days during the week. The packaged included 2 dinners each at this really nice romantic resturant each (the food was awesome, especially the blackened sea bass), 2 b-fasts, 2 days of skiing and 2 nights lodging. It was wonderful!!!!! we had such a good time. There was really no one there...so there were no lift lines at all. For the midwest Devilshead is not a bad place. I much prefer skiing in Colorado where they have real black diamond runs, but this worked well with budget and scheduling. So we really didnt have a Valentines day...we had Valentines DayS.... Im docking on a round, as I come in I grab on, then float up. I had the honor as well to watch this series....it is intense. It gives a realitly check of what war is, and how much these men did to save our freedom as people. I could go on and on.... I will tell you this, it is worth every dime it costs...and then some. I spent days\hours trying to find a store that had this around christmas. Everyone was sold out. I was worth all the time and effort....its an amazing series. Then again, coming from Spielberg and Hanks... Be prepared, it is a 10 part series...1 hour each. Riviting the entire way.... Yes there is rental gear available. Javelins with Saber 2's (many sizes harness and canopy) and a bunch of different combinations in Para-Concepts. I know its $75 per day at Para-Concepts. I think it is $25 a jump for the Javelins. BTW..The weather in Chicago is not quite the same as at SDC. When you look up forcasts check for Ottawa, IL. Pretty much weekends only right now. However if there enought people during the week to take the plane up they will. As for hours...right now that kinda varies...on the weekends I would say they are open around 8, till last load... This weekend there will be a AFP refresher course Sat AM and dinner and movies at night. Jumps are normally $19 however they may have a special off season thing going on right now. You can also buy blocks of jumps at a discounted price too... Um, no its not...I also stated I was trying to clarify a point that SDC DOES NOT put unlicensed AFP Students out on Stiletto's. In addition they just dont hand over a stilleto right off student status. People once they graduate (this is from anywere, be it SDC or a DZ that uses manta's) are going to do what they want...and buy what ever they can find within budget. Some people thank god take the time to explain to them what they are getting into, however in some cases the Jumper refuses to listen. Those are the people that are a danger to themselves and others in the sport. Each person is different on what there canopy skills are. There are people with 1000+ jumps that have no business flying a Stiletto either. In my opinion those people who are dying with 300 jumps are becoming complacent of what they are really doing or someone in the air with them has become complacent. When it comes down to it we are all responsible for our own actions and decisions. I dont believe at any point they used a FULLY elliptical canopy (stiletto) during the student training. Yes we use SEMI ellipticals that are loaded lightly. I do know they were infact using Safire's and I believe Sabers. I can call and ask...but im pretty sure they never used Stiletto or any FULLY elliptical HP type canopy in there student training. The transition to a Stiletto is after completing the AFP Student program (20 jumps, completeing A license requirements) If the jumpers canopy skills are up to par, and they want to. And believe me, you have go thru a 20 minute lecture about the canopy before you jump it...
