  10. All I have to say is this was the most fun I have had on a Jump!!! * Sunset Load * 9 Way...(was a 10, but one person backed out cause it was getting to dark and they were not comfortable landing in low light with a new canopy) DiverDriver, GrumpySmurf, Juggler, Bill Homer, Keith Nugent, Roger Nelson, Glen Bangs (yup the AFF Guy), Range, and Me. * 3 camera's....two docked in the formation and one floating * And!!! Glen and Range getting their TF numbers on my 100th jump... What better way to give them their TF numbers but to funnel the base.....Grumpy, Juggler, DiverDriver and I launched the base....it funneled...and funneled and...well after 10 sec, we gave up, broke it apart, DiverDriver and I stayed together and everyone else docked on for the formation!!!! Then we ran out of alititude.... We got hilarious video....and Skycam editied it and added music and everything!!!! It was an absolute blast...Thanks to everyone who was on the jump with me... And most important...Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend DiverDriver for organizing the whole thing.... Thanks Hon..... eeneR She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

  13. There is nothing more exciting then seeing the face of a new student as they learn to fly!! I have been on both sides now....it is wonderful to experience and just as wonderful to watch others go through it...It brings back those feelings and reminds you of why you started... You are not alone...You may not realize it but once you leave that door you will be entering a whole new realm...one you will never forget.. eeneR
  14. Well I think that doing tandems as the first jump is a safe way to handle the first exposure to free fall. I did two tandems (7 years apart, ugh long story) But I felt that it got me past the first feelings of dealing with free fall. I then went on to complete the AFP program....If done right tandems are not just a joy ride but can be a training experience. As for finding a partner in crime....You will meet many many new people. I went to my DZ by myself...this sport is about you and your strength within to crush your fears...You dont need to have some one holding your hand. When shit happens you need to be strong enough to deal with it....no one is going to be there to help you pull that reserve handle.. So be one stronger!!! Go it alone....I would have had it no other way personally!!! eeneR
  15. Unless of course its from me.... eeneR
  16. Well if it were outside of the "last fling" it would be a whole other story. That is the point of the party. To test will of the Groom... is this really what they want. If he were to actually get into it and kiss, fondle, or have any sexual contact with said stripper. That is cheating. The stripper is a show... So if I see a naked guy on TV...is that cheating? eeneR
  17. Andy I could not agree more with you on this... I have been on both ends of the spectrum...having been the close "friend" and had to deal with close "friends" of the opposite gender. Andrea, I totaly agree here as well. It can be a strain on a relationship...especially when things are hidden from the SO or they are sheltered from it...there are a lot of times simple stuff us hidden to protect the SO from hurt feelings, but this just makes it worse, much worse.... I feel that if a close freindship with someone of the opposite sex is shared with the SO...then the problem is not as intense. As long as there are no ulterior motives.....(Said friend really wants to bag SO, not just be friends) As it stands, I have made a few good female friends out of my close guy friends' ex's or in some cases wives (if that makes any sense). I made a point of making it known to the girlfriends that I respect there place, as they are a higher priority, and gained there trust as being only a friend. On the same note have become good friends with a SO's good friend.... Things differ in each relationship and what its based on. But when its a one and only one one on relationship, honesty, openness and trust are the keys to a strong relationship. Hiding things, you loose all three....The key is openness. ok, that was my 2 cents eeneR
  18. It was definatly an interesting day on saturday. I had the honor of being one of the bridesmaids in the wedding. We had a whole dive plan all set. However it was scheduled to happen around 4pm, and by that time the winds had started to kick up and become unstable. Not to mention the thermals. I rode thru some earlier in the day. Not a whole lot of fun. Im just glad that the Bride picked an ok color for the Jumpsuits. God forbid I had to spend $200 on a jumpsuit that I would never wear again... Yeah right, had it been a regular wedding it would have been $200+ on a dress I know I would never wear again. All and all it was a great experience, and hopefully we will get the jump out of the way next weekend so we can get the video togther... And Grumpy!!! Speed up dude!!!! more weights!!! come on so we can kick some 4-way A$$ eeneR
  19. Sweet!!! You are going to have a good time getting that puppy shoved in the bag....bawahahaha.... new zp is slicker than snot.. eeneR
  20. Man you missed my most recent attempt at funneling the formation...I docked on and reached like a dufus...flipped over, ended up sitting on Adams head and had Pete's head between my legs.... We call that Sit Face Flying.,..We flew like that stable for a good 5-4 seconds then they broke the round to let me fall off... I believe we have a new skydiving style.. eeneR
  21. Nice!!!...ok so grumpy when does your NEW CANOPY get here.....hmmm?...First NEW Canopy?....hmmmm.. BTW, Hope your staying for the TF BBQ this weekend....Hell we should be able to get you your TF number too....I would say just funnel on a 10 way jump but I dont think Jerry would like that too much. And if there is anyone else in the Chicago area....common guys...this is to help get a Kid a truly awsome wish. eeneR

    The Beer Ride

It’s a bright and sunny afternoon at the DZ, we are taking a quick break from 10way practice to eat lunch. As I am sitting in the common area inhaling my lunch Chris comes in to say goodbye before he takes of for his journey. I then am informed that we are on a 15-min call for next load. So Chris and I say our good-byes and off he goes, and off I go to go gear up. So I gear up, and watch and wave, as Chris leaves (don’t think he saw me). As we are all standing out at the mockup dirt diving with a 5-min call I realize I really have to pee. So I let our coach know that I will be right back. I run to the bathroom de-gearing on the way, do my business and re-gear on the way back out to the tarmac. I double and triple checked my straps etc. Made sure all handles were in place. Make it to the plane just as we were boarding. We go up, the dive goes pretty well….we break off…..track, stop and pull……. Wham right on opening she spins up quickly to the right, Slider does not make it down it is stuck above the twists. So I make three attempts to untwist, try one – nothing, Try two still nothing WTF?, Try three I try with all my might…she starts to surge and dive to the right (same directions as the twists). I check my alti., I was just a hair above hard deck. SCREW THIS…Chop…..Pull reserve…. AHHHHH What a pretty yellow canopy above my head. Gained my bearings to where I am and where things are going (reserve/freebag), Shove my handles in my jumpsuit, and released my toggles. I follow down my reserve, get and idea of where it is headed, then found an out for myself. I had to flat spiral down into a gully, as I would not make it over the trees. I land standing, then proceed to sit. First thought… Im Alive!!!! Second thought....Damn it figures Chris leaves and I have my first cutaway. Third thought…... Damn I’m glad I went to the bathroom before getting on this load. Fourth thought…..Damn I owe beer. I gather up my reserve and start heading up the hill to the train tracks as I know I can get back to the airport by following them and I believe that my main landed just off of them. As I was headed up our coach comes walking down the tracks, he had followed me down and landed just over the trees and had my freebag. We do a quick check to see if we can find my main. Nothing quickly, it’s hot and I do not have on clothes to go hiking in the woods to look for my main. So we mark where we think it is and head back. He decides to take the high road I opt for the train tracks, as I do not want to have to climb over barbwire with my reserve out. So I’m headed down the tracks for my half-mile walk back. Laughing all the goofy things involved, Chris leaving, and that I have to call him when I get back, the fact that I had to go to the bathroom. And I made it through my first reserve ride blah blah blah.. I’m walking along, the plane is buzzing over head….A few minutes later I see a person walking down the tracks. Oh hey look they sent someone to get me cool. I keep walking they are getting closer. WTF? That looks like Chris? It was…..He had lost his cell phone and was waiting for me to come back down from the load to help him look for it…. but I didn’t come back, everyone else made it back? Then someone had told him there was a reserve ride. He did the math and it was me….The plane had radioed down that I was walking down the tracks, so he came down to get me. [eeneR with big shit eating grin] We go back to the hanger, pick up my free back and drop off my rig to the rigger to have my reserve repacked handles and all. I go change clothes, grab some water for the journey and the next thing I know I have 4 other people who were willing to give up part of their day to help me find my main (THANKS GUYS YOU KNOW WHO YOUR ARE!!!!). We swung by the tralier so I could call Chris’ phone to hel find it, I call it we hear it ring, they guys in the truck are cracking up. We stick out heads outside, and here it ringing. It had fallen out next to where his car had been parked. Off we were on the main hunt, it didn’t take long, I got luck as it did not end up in a tree, it fell and landed on a path. Lessons learned? 1. If you gotta go before a load…GO!!!!!!! I would have had yellow floating above me and yellow floating below me.
