Those must be rubber 'plates'. I managed to freeze frame one when she dropped it and it was bent pretty well. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Yes. A popular choice is the UPT semi-stowless bag, that's what I have and I love it. Contact a rigger to determine compatibility and avoid surprises. Maid 1.0 would have been cheaper. Let's face it, wife 1.0 is the most expensive and least effective way to get anything you really want. There are plenty of other apps that work much better. Most can be found as freeware or rented. Buying doesn't really make much sense financially. The saying is "If it flies, floats or fucks... it's cheaper to rent." No where does it mention cleaning though. You need to adjust your Cleartype settings. Before you ask: http://bit.ly/13cJpHT "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Converting metal reserve ripcord to soft?
theonlyski replied to milehigheric's topic in Gear and Rigging
Generally if they pull the handle and clear the cable, the seal gets broken off by the ripcord housing. RSL seems to do a decent job of ripping them off too. That sucker looks pretty awesome! Quick question though, would you expect the exhaust to get sucked into the open door and fill the fuselage? Sent you a PM on the contact info subject. As far as the gear: They seem to use a grommet cutter that is the exact size 0 for punching a hole into the reserve PC kicker flap... The problem is when they put their grommet into it, the grommet is just a tad bit wider than the hole, so it doesn't set all the way and causes the flap to 'flop'. The edge of the grommet also usually tends to stick up a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCVB_VGN3fc This causes the stiffener to develop a crack in it and need to be replaced. I took that video and then pulled the stiffener out of the flap, it was about a good 2.5" crack from the hole to the end. The replacement I put a hole big enough for the grommet to fit in properly and that rig hasn't been an issue since. I've noticed cracks forming in several other Icons as well. Nobody listens to me though. Converting metal reserve ripcord to soft?
theonlyski replied to milehigheric's topic in Gear and Rigging
There's no FAR that says it must remain in place or one that says it may be removed. I treat it like this: My seal is the tamper evident indicator much like specialized tape. It's to let the end recipient know that I was the last person inside there. If they feel like taking the seal off, that's their decision... They forfeit the ability to blame me for anything inside once the seal is gone. Difficult for me to have an unbiased opinion... I have degrees coming out of my ass!!! I bet SOMEONE would pay good money for those. I do have a pretty good background and several years in the industry (both military and civil), so that usually ends up getting me in a better position than someone that just graduated with a 4 year degree. Then there are the people with liberal arts or psychology degrees... Generally speaking, I do better than my friends who have 4 year degrees... I have a 2 year degree that is worth less than the ink used to print it. While I was toying around with my NAS as a router for the network (two interfaces, Ubuntu Server 12.04), I had my IPTABLES log every dropped packet... tail -f /var/iptables.log Good times. Some of those guys were pretty fucking persistent. Too bad I had moved my SSH to a different port and they weren't even getting the login prompt! Sadly though, I had some issues using it as my router/firewall and I just gave up on it and pulled the second NIC... A big part of my job is VPN administration, for which I use Cisco ASA's plugged directly into the internet. I cannot even begin to tell you how many port 22, 23, 445, 3389, 80/443 requests come in on an open connection, sources from China, Indonesia, Russia, the UK... all within about a 2 minute log time. I just last night put a site behind an ASA that previously was just using a 2811 router with NAT (one to one for many of the servers). No access list applied either, so they were about as directly connected as one could get... and to top it off, they hadn't been patched or updated since January of LAST year. Our security team is having a field day trying to get them into compliance and find any/all of the malicious traffic... just putting them behind the firewall (still have a one to one NAT on the servers) seriously cut down on the unsolicited attempts that make it to the server. Mind you, these were new set up connections/IP's that hadn't been used in at least a year... didn't even have DNS entries. Granted, a decent network admin could whip up an access list and do a pretty decent job of limiting internet facing servers, but many I've seen don't even bother... Especially if it's not their network. I'm pretty sure the bag limit is *one*, and you've already bagged your limit. Just because there's a limit, doesn't stop people from taking one against the rules. Converting metal reserve ripcord to soft?
theonlyski replied to milehigheric's topic in Gear and Rigging
I like to see if I can get the seal off the rig without breaking the thread. I have been successful a few times and there's one PEP out there that lends itself to that very thing without even trying! Furthermore, can you show me in the FAR's anything that says a broken seal invalidates the reserve pack job? Dead fruits are much better? I spent most of the night after work switching a new to us site from T1 to FiOS. Fun... "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

I see them, usually after a chop and they dropped their handles. I also have a chest container with a PLASTIC ripcord handle. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
