    Hey ya old fart. Buy an external USB drive (even better if you find one that will run off of USB power) and back your stuff up to it once a week or so. When it's not actively backing up, UNPLUG IT and put it in a safe place. No need to worry about lightning taking it out unless your house is on fire, but then ya got bigger prollems.     While this could be useful, it's hard to recreate the exact events. It might rule out the possibility of the container being over stuffed, but really, a lot of it would depend on how THAT rigger packed it. I bet you could put 10 riggers in one room with one rig, ask them to pack it a few times each and you'll get about 15 different ways of distributing the bulk of the packjob. My curiosity would like to see another one of the riggers packjobs (provided they were packed by the same rigger). But there is no reason to believe that it was caused by any one thing rather than the unfortunate chain that gets so many people in trouble.     Many people (myself included) adjust their brake lines when moving to a new canopy. It's quite possible that your canopy was owned by someone with gorilla length arms and had it lengthened, or even different risers! Adjusting your brake lines should be a little at a time. Maybe an inch or so until you're comfortable with it, then tack them down. Your rigger will be able to assist easily!     Couple weeks ago I was doing a repack at the DZ (usually take them home) and had a few people watching. The look on their faces when I explained that little blue aluminum part was the skyhook. They acted like I was trying to sell them my time share on the moon!     Not true, I know of atleast one crash that was caused by the pilots forgetting to remove the control lock, put the plane into a stall after takeoff and killed them.     Ya great idea! Let's mix in dummy rigs with perfectly good rigs because that's a great way to ensure safety and training! There is absolutely zero chance that someone grabs a dummy rig and hops on the plane with it right?! I mean, come on, accidents never happen in skydiving!!!!! The rigger should maintain a list of what's wrong with each rig, and check it all off before the rigs are allowed back out of the loft. Another plan is after everyone identifies the problem, most of which can be fixed easily... fix them on the spot. He reaches with his left hand to just outside the cameras view and pulls the top of the freebag. Given that it looks like he's head low, it would make even more sense. ETA: in that video you have it saying that the PC isn't oscillating and because of it, it's not creating any drag. By that mentality, a round canopy that isn't oscillating will not create drag... yet I bet there's thousands and thousands of paratroopers and older skydivers that would disagree... Right?     I actually ran into my company commander at the DZ. I had a bunch of HALO guys that I worked with, several of them transitioned over to the USPA. The command likely didn't care because they understood it and knew there were far worse things they could be doing with their free time.     Just curious if you've experimented with less than full flaps on the gusty/xwind landings? You need a bit more speed, but you have a bit more authority on the controls to compensate for the conditions. ETA: Ahh what the hell, I'm in a giving mood: In your gforum.cgi file, you'll probably see this line inside the tags: Immediately above it is probably some javascript crap. I would move that meta tag line to just under the line. EETA: This probably has something to do with the embedded images function, but I think moving the meta line up to just under the title (or even above it) would alleviate this situation.     I'm willing to go out on a limb and say you're either very close to or work at Jumpshack. Millions of jumps are conducted each year, generally incident free... Shot hits the fan and its all because a reserve PC doesn't meet TSO. Maybe it's got more to do with the possibility of a faster than normal speed, less than optimal deployment position and it just being their unlucky day.
