    There are very powerful programs that can recover deleted files as long as they haven't been overwritten. Once you delete the files, they remain on the hard drive, but are marked deleted and are there until they're over written by new stuff. If you're still using the computer, even sometimes just having it on, it can start overwriting it. Mac's use the EXT file system (same as Linux), find a local tech nerd familiar with Linux and see if he can save it still. There are multitudes of forensic recovery software packages out there for free that run on Linux and they're quite scary once you realize how safe your deleted files REALLY are.     I've seen a safety pin with a little flag on it (noting a defect in the manufacturing) on a canopy I looked at once. I wouldn't use a paperclip though, they fall off too easily. JB Weld would work so much better! I don't know how well it would stick to the nylon and what if it's a grey parachute? Maybe if there was RED JB weld.
