  1. I sure don't, but my WAG is that the Mirage would weigh more, but no clue by how much. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  2. It is possible that he had the swing up door mod done so he could pop it in flight and throw bundles. At least, that's what I would do. 3. I saw it in person a few months ago. When everyone came up to it and said "Looks like a Wings" the guy with it, can't think of his name, would reply strongly with no its not a Wings. That was probably Dave He is VERY specific that its NOT a Wings! "Hey Dave, that's a nice looking Wings tandem rig you got there." 6. J So THAT's where ya have been! Congrats on the new gig. Any feedback from the stuff I posted upthread? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4311339;search_string=icon;#4311339 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4446079#4446079 "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  7. It might be ok for lines and VERY light work, but I doubt it would be any good for cordura or multiple layers of really anything. 8. I want to see this. sounds like a pc in tow in the making! It is not so weird an idea. Think of the tab that gets inserted under the container flap as usual, but instead of the tab leading to a pillow, a hackey is attached. I think it comes down to the fact that people like the tab to hold things in place better, but some like the hackey handle. No reason that a hackey handle should have to rely solely on the tension of the mouth of the BOC to hold it in place. Perhaps there is a better way to do it for a hackey, but I like the principle of a bit more holding it in place. I know it's not a weird idea. My comment was that the OP said they could sew a tuck tab to a normal hackey. That's a different story than buying one pre-made by a manufacturer. 9. Then that rigger should be looked at, it's clearly written out in the FARs that it must be sealed by the rigger when he/she finishes packing it. 10. What sort of information did you have to provide to UPT for sizing info? I have an FX5 and was thinking about changing out the bag but was unsure how the "cross manufacturer" thing worked. Get with one of the riggers at the dz if you're unsure. You're at one of the DZ's out there where you can throw a rock and hit two riggers and a pilot. 16. I want to see this. sounds like a pc in tow in the making! Yesterday I actually replaced a hackey for someone who said that part of it broke. It was a very creative mix of bartacks and supertack, but he was a jump or two away from having a throw out hackey sans pilotchute. Sad part is, it was fixed with supertack instead of actually replacing the handle like any sane rigger should do. Also, OP: you can change the handle on the PC, it's cheaper than buying a new PC. 18. 20. You should be able to buy just about any color/length of risers from most lofts and online stores (chutingstar, paragear, ect.). Tell them the length, color and side that your RSL shackle is on. I like the UPT risers, but your mileage may vary. If/when in doubt about your gear, talk to YOUR rigger. (S)He is the one that will have the job of determining the compatibility of the components. 21. You shouldn't have any issues with them. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  22. Also, packing ability makes a difference. Some people can pack it smaller than others, and that can make a BIG difference. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  23. Looking at picking up a Pilot 132, which is described in the sizing guide as "soft." I'm sure this means it's the smallest size that Mirage would recommend be fit into the rig. Seems like it should be a decent fit with the Smart in there and a shorter closing loop. My question is, what am I missing? Are there any other variables out there that I'm not thinking of? Thanks! Nope, sounds about right. Keep in mind there is a ~10% variance between canopies of the same model... You could have one of the bigger ones. 24. I never said 'indirect supervision'. I feel that the students should still discuss their jump plans with an instructor for every jump. 25. Any student is (or should be) under the supervision of an instructor. That doesn't mean the instructor is on the jump. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
