Florida Turnpike and I95 are my main ones staying off the them would significantly increase the driving time I think. (already near 5 hrs) I believe the FL toll roads still have a cash option. FL is a heavy tourist state so going Etoll only wouldn't be good. The crosstown expressway in Tampa is E-toll only. Though they do have an option of 'Bill you later' by snapping pictures of your license plate, finding your registration and sending you a bill... but that's probably going to cost more. You can buy a SunPass transponder (get the suction cup one) for $30ish at any Publix and just activate it linked to a credit card. That should cover any toll roads in FL I believe. It won't be a better deal than a partial ownership of the Golden Gate Bridge. I can make a VERY good offer to an interested buyer. I rarely order pizza anymore, but when I do and it's raining, I make sure to be extra generous with the tip, usually starting at $5 and going up depending on the speed it gets there. I always take care of the bartenders/waitstaff at the places I go and it works exceptionally well. Depending on the place, the beer is on the counter before I'm able to get it.

I did the AFF course with my Safire2 with the over sized slider... that damn thing snivels for 1k at least. There was once or twice that I was open and turned to my downwind leg. Nobody ever actually asked for the change, they would just give me say $12 when the bill is $11.75 and not say anything. But a few times I got change as a tip, or change as part of the total bill, and I would throw it in their driveway. Reminds me of this: FYI audio is kinda low.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTWy43yIfCM Why did I think that was the video of Deedy giving the pizza guys an entertaining night? I forgot about that night at Sebastian. Good times.... someone should post it to this thread because she does mention a tip in the audio. I'd post it but I lost the file in a laptop crash a while ago. She made me try Tuaca that night. I know she's got it on DVD, but I didn't copy it when I had the chance. I can typically clean up the reserve just a little and possibly push a little more fabric deeper into the ears with my paddle, but yeah, once it's in there, not a whole lot you can do. Most the reserves I end up packing are at the top end of the containers ability to hold, while that doesn't sound bad, it doesn't give me much flexibility when it comes to bulk distribution. Especially true on smaller sport gear, you can end up with no leeway for the bulk distribution and basically have to experiment to find the best way to pack it. Easiest reserves I've ever packed were the Strong Dual Hawk tandem rigs. You just gotta get the thing in the bag in a shape that looks kinda like a wedge and it's happy. The hardest is probably a small Mirage that I've packed a few times. I have to almost measure my previous folds and make sure that I do it again, or it will simply not close. There are 3 priorities when it comes to packing reserves: 1. It works. 2. It looks good. 3. It feels comfortable on your back. Most of the time, people will bitch if #2 isn't met, even if it would be completely functional/safe and comfortable. ***Edited to add: I will also mention that perhaps there are things a rigger does that slightly deviates from the mfg's recommendations that might seem inconsequential, but might be important. (Again, I'm not a rigger, so this is an example from ignorance, but it maybe illustrates where I'm going: suppose a rigger doesn't exactly follow the mfg's description of distrubuting the pack volume, but instead pushes some off to the side to allow more room for the PC.) Believe it or not, riggers are generally afforded quite a lot of room as for how we do our bulk distribution and reduction folds. We each have our own techniques and since it isn't usually covered in the manual, you can actually tell riggers apart by the way the folds are done. Maybe Gibbs has a bit of misaphonia. My wife developed that a couple of years back, and it causes her (and me) a bit of grief. Even the sound of my chewing (which is normal, except the occasional jaw click) can sometimes drive her from the room, unless she is simultaneously chomping. Maybe Ms Gibbs should meditate MASTICATE MASTURBATE each time the plane goes by. "Ommmmmmm". FIFY FIFY! No, they became over reliant on an airplane that 'would not let you stall it', not knowing the failure mode and managed to stall it for tens of thousands of feet. Well, GPS is great but it does experience problems. Especially in tunnels (unless you have some GPS ground stations). The biggest problem I could see with it, is eventually the train operators would end up relying on a system that they believe will do all of the work. Kind of like Air France 447. That surely is included in the price for the option. It seems they don't advertise many of their options on their home page. Perhaps they don't think it is worth it? I was talking to a guy that was building a new tandem rig and when I asked if they'll have the magnetic riser covers, he said hell no. Apparently his boss called him and said that people want it, so they will do it. Check with the course director for the Rigger-A course you're planning on attending and make sure they have no problem with you getting all of your repacks signed off before the course. Good luck! It's a lot more than just packing a reserve (actually, that's one of the easy parts!) no issues at all. Germain used to have Spectra lines with vectran steering on his canopies for a bit, then went to all Vectran. some people prefer to change out the steering lines on the all-HMA Katanas to Vectran, etc, etc. I wouldn't recommend dacron for steering lines though, too bulky, and too high maintenance with no real benefit. I replaced my Vectran lower steering lines (just from the brake setting to toggle) with some 600lb Dacron and haven't had any issue. Slightly thicker but are showing absolutely no wear yet. But yeah, it comes down to what the rigger feels comfortable with. I think that any new line is far better than a ratty line that's on its last leg. Polite word for fraud. Basically signing that the reserve was repacked, but not actually doing the job only the paperwork. Is there any kind of rule, unwritten or written, that a rigger must resign or lose his licence when doing something so incredibly stupid and dangerous? Or at least that other riggers take him out back and beat the shit out of him? This kind of carelessness could have gotten somebody killed. The lazy bastard is essentially giving the finger to somebody's life. I would probably be tempted to murder my rigger if I ever found out this had happened to my gear. Pencil packing is in itself the wrong term. You use pens. I know a hand full of riggers out there that I would let pack for me, if for some reason I am unable to do so myself. As far as what happens to the rigger, well, at some point word will likely get around and their business will go elsewhere. I'm sure you could call the FAA Safety office and report it, but they'd have to dig pretty deeply to catch one red handed, and I doubt they care that much about us most of the time. Well, they may have to pay royalties on the magnetic riser covers, so instead of making a big deal of it, they're just letting people who pay attention know they can get them. The list of recent signatures: [inline Signatures.JPG] They're nowhere near Sedona. Shows how far of a reach some of these people are getting. ETA: From the petition I don't know bout y'all but when I take off, it's always full power. No TFRs or NOTAMs that I can find that restrict the operation hours. I'd like to see where these 'hours of operation' are posted, I'd bet they're the hours of the FBO. Actually, they have the operations policy (Dated 10/15/2013) listed on the Sedona website that states: [inline Hours.JPG] Though further down it does state that flights between 9pm and 7am should be "limited to the extent practical." That by no means is a limitation. It's also funny that they say the hours posted because you won't see any posted hours till you land. Fine, they'll cost $0.01. I'd bet that the airport is bringing in more money than the town would make without it. Places with airports are easier to reach for a weekend getaway a few hundred NM away.
