    Could you go over this real slow…..I have no idea what you are saying. Sparky Heck, I'm willing to bet that ya don't even need a 3rd class if the pilot is flying a LSA category aircraft. Student, Sports and Recreational and Private Pilots all need a 3rd. class medical.     I have a 3 meter long iPhone cable (actually have a few of them). They're GREAT when traveling because I can sit down just further than the last person soaking up a plug can reach, plug in and still have some room to screw around on facebook instead of listening to the boarding announcements.     Well there you go. I learn something new everyday. So why the hell is that guy offended I didn't know AFF instructor's need medicals? I mean, if even rigger's don't need them, and TI's don't need them, it follows AFFI's don't need them either. I still don't see how me assuming AFFI's don't need medicals is me not knowing my facts? I don't see anything about you saying anything about AFFI and medicals. I searched the whole page and didn't find anything that said AFFI that looks relevant. The only statement I saw from you about medicals required were for riggers and TI's. Let's just clear it up: Only two people at the DZ are required to have medicals: The pilot is required to have a 2nd class (FAA) The TI is required to have a 3rd class (USPA/MFG) Nobody else on the DZ is required to have any FAA medical.     Where did you hear that? Who was pulling your chain? Riggers don't need medicals. I could have a heart attack while packing a reserve and it wont hurt you. Think about the purpose for the medical. I had my riggers ticket for nearly a full year before I got my medical (because I was in flight training). Medical or not, I can still work on reserve systems. Believe it or not, the only currency requirement I must meet is that I be current to pack reserves, ironically you get current by packing a reserve.
