#1!!! I don't like the attitude of people who don't like something, it should be banned. That's a crock! If, you don't like what's on tv... change the channel. Trying to deny something that some people enjoy and is protected by the Constitution, is absolutely wrong. If, you don't like guns... stay away from them. Just like anything else. Chuck

. If they didn't I might not be here today. I'm not going to touch that one! Seriously, times have changed and we're running out of room. We 'let 'em all in' and we're not going to have the (what's left of it) wide-open spaces and so-on. Chuck

As well as politicians selling themselves to 'big business' and 'big oil'. My grand parents did the same thing. Their first stop on their way here was Ellis Island. One big problem we have is 'politically correct' putting 'illegals' in the same group as 'legals'. Another problem is the 'let 'em all in' attitude by many in this country. We really do, need to know just exactly who is coming into this country. Especially with the threat of terrorists as well as the very lucrative drug trade. I am not at all against 'legal' immigration into this country. I am very much against 'illegal' immigration. To me, that's stealing citizenship. Chuck

Yo, Yo ma brother... My favoritist hunting rifle sound comes from that of the British Enfield No.5 Mk1 jungle carbine chambered in .308.... All me buddies had other types of rifles and when I shot mine, they later said, they had a "What the fuck was that" moment? See pic. That'll do it! Having not heard your Enfield, my favorite is the sound my Remington - 721, .30-06 makes. I've had hunting buddies tell me; 'Tone that son of a bitch down! Dayum!' Guns are cool! edit to add... one of those guys shoots a 300-mag! I'm just shooting standard loads with 180-gtain bullets. Chuck

I don't see a problem with suppressors. Yet, I do like to hear the sound of a gun shot. Especially if I'm hunting with someone else. My first thought is that 'maybe he got one'! Also, if a tree falls in the forest and noone is around... does it still make a sound? Chuck

No it won't. It'll be called proof of climate change. For the last couple of years the US was hammered with large amounts of snow and it was proof of global warming. Now the US had a brown Christmas and it is also proof of glopbal warming. I don't have a clue as to what they'll call it. I do know, I really question the whole 'global warming' thing. I tend to believe it's all a big scam started by a small group of people with a lot of money looking to make more money at the expense of the general population using a lot of scare tactics. Seems like, a lot of the 'scientists' involved are now changing their tune about 'global warming'. Chuck

I heard about that, too! Maybe, that will take away some concern for the polar ice-cap. Chuck

I heard the same thing from a friend of mine about New York City. Seems like, the Northeast and parts of the mid-West had a mild winter. Wait till next winter!! Chuck

Department Of Homeland Security Is Buying 450 Million Bullets
masterrig replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
I'd have to agree with Doug on this one. The thing is, we don't know just who is/has the contract with the govt. I could be Olin or some other big manufacturer. One thing about it, my wife doesn't have to worry about .40 cal. ammo. The agency she retired from, loaded her up with that ammo. Chuck -
Department Of Homeland Security Is Buying 450 Million Bullets

I did a search and couldn't come-up with a figure. I think, people have to consider that the amount of ammo is not going to be dumped on Homeland Security in one big lump delivery. This is what, over a 5-yr. period? People get all worked-up over stuff like this. Ho much ammo has Homeland Security ordered in the past? Like I said earlier, they have the weapons, they should have the ammo. People need to realize what the bad guys have for weaponry and the resources they have. Chuck -

I would feel better if they were each issued one bullet and ordred to keep it in their pocket. (Baby-boomers wil get the reference). Well, Barn... I would imagine, much of that ammo will be used to periodically qualify at the range. Chuck -

God! No sense in having the weapons without the ammo to go with it. Chuck -
We had areal mild winter, here in West Texas. Daytime temperatures have been in the mid to upper 70's. Fruit trees blossomed last week. Got 3/4" of very much needed rain and pea-sized hail, yesterday. Got a little more rain today. Not near enough to end the drought here but it's a good start! Chuck

I have yet to see evidence that aliens could possibly give a rat's ass about this rock. Nothin' to see here, folks! Chuck

I've read it, awhile back and you're right! Chuck

Oh, o.k. Then, they don't exist. Chuck

You mean like E.T or ALF? Personally I think thats a sucky way of greeting aliens, after all its a big universe and they've come here all that distance. Its hardly their fault if the US Gov doesn't have a visa system in place for them. Sheesh, you Yanks worry about some funny things. It's our country and we should worry about who enters it! This 'just let everybody in... no questions' attitude is a crock of crap! Chuck But they come in peace? Whats the big deal? Don't tell me you have a problem even with the friendly ones, what do you want to do with them, cut their brains out? Lock them up in Area 51? That's just silly. No,I don't have a problem with the 'good ones' just let them do it LEGALLY!!! That's all. Chuck Well this illegal alien was was worried that is what would happen to him if he got caught. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyJo6ESSiMY Why is it that aliens only ever seem to visit the USA? We occasionally get some unexplained lights in the sky but we never have a problem with illegal aliens at least not on the scale that this tread implies. Strange. Not so. Australia, England and a few others. Chuck

When the last of my ancestors came over everyone was welcome except the Chinese. That seemed to work pretty well for us (the open borders, not the Chinese Exclusion Act). That was then. Times have changed. Chuck

Two little words... background check. Chuck

And could have stayed that way if Santa Anna hadn't been such a despotic @#$%. We have a long tradition of throwing off yokes of tyranny thru armed revolution. Oh wait, you're British. You know that already. Santa Anna thought he was going to be recieved as a hero when he returned to Mexico, too. Quite the contrary. Like some famous war leaders, he was brutal and suffered from an over-inflated ego. Chuck

You too? I especially enjoy Texas history and history of the Western U.S. Chuck Texas history to an extent, but general US history from around the French and Indian War to the Civil War is a favorite of mine. Soviet Russia (from the civil war to the end of Stalin) is also a favorite of mine. Russian history is interesting. I took a course regarding it. My big interests are the times of Lewis and Clark on to the turn of the 20th. century. Chuck

Yes M'am. I've been there. It's been awhile, though. Chuck
