  1. I feel the same way, I've got my CHL and several guns and hope, I never have to 'use' any of them for 'self-protection'. My favorite is a Model - 721 Remington 30.06, with a BSA scope. a sweet litle shooter. I take it with me to the ranch when we work cattle. When we get done for the day, the ranch owner and I go out and have some 'fun'. He usually carries a 22.250. Usually javelina or feral hogs or anything that might be detrimental to the welfare of the cattle. Chuck
  2. Yeah, the few that did that make all cops look bad. You're going to find 'crap' in every facet of our society. I don't care where you look... it's gonna be there. Chuck
  3. So, their rooms lack good views! DUH... the freakin' tsunami blew the view away! There are thousands of dead people as a result of the storm and they want a view? People in hell want ice-water too! That's cold-blooded, self serving, arrogant and pea-hearted! They shouldn't be looking for the 'usual amenities' in this situation and maybe, be a little understanding of the situation. Chuck
  4. Interesting. Do they 'back them up' to the bitter end or, do they 'back them up' till they realize the officer(s) in question were in fact wrong? Cops are 'supposed' to support and back-up their fellow officers, sure. In a 'perfect world' in this country, everyone is considered 'innocent' till proven guilty. With the press and T.V. news, it's usually the other way around. Chuck
  5. Dang-it! I was going to ask the same thing of him. The police, don't just grab someone and throw them against a wall, without provocation or 'probable cause'. Something triggered it. Ya' think? Chuck
  6. and as long as that's all the press will write about is 'bad' cops, yeah, the public won't have a very high opinion of police. There's good and bad in everything. Politics, sports, pilots, machine operators... you name it. To 'generalize that all cops are bad, well, that's too bad. Chuck
  7. I see a lot of young officers with 'rookie-itis'. They want to kick-in doors and bust the bad guys. They don't have the patience for long hours of surveillance or 'really handling 'domestic violence' (politically correct term for spousal abuse!), checking for prowlers, serving warrants and etc. There ARE a lot of damned good, dedicated cops out there. Having been in police work and my wife, who IS a police officer, I'm still 'involved' in it and get to see a lot. Theres and old saying about walking a mile in their shoes before judging. Seems as though, the only stories that make the press are the 'bad' ones. The stories about that small minority who has their head up their butt. The majority can't be judged by the 'few'. Let 'em do their job. Chuck
  8. You make a good point. I have never understood the thinking of our govt. leaders thinking we have to 'police' the rest of the world. I think, some 'bad' choices have been made in regard to where we should be and where we shouldn't be in the world. One thing though. If, we don't like what our 'leaders' are doing, we can vote them out of office and try someone else. Chuck
  9. Yeah, right! The judge ruled in accordance with the law. The entire matter took place in Texas. Anna Nicole was wrong taking it to a California court, where she felt more confident for a ruling in her favor. Brraaap! WRONG ANSWER! Sorry, Anna! It just don't work that way. You lose! Chuck
  10. Did you see her at that awards show? Talk about spaced-out! I'm with you... I'm tired of seeing her and hearing her. She's the poster child for 'Springer-people'!! When she comes on the tube, I excersize my right to grab the 'clicker'! Chuck
  11. Un-fortunately, these things happen. Cops are human too. It's sad but, we just can't let that over-shadow the great numbers of really good and dedicated cops out there. Chuck
  12. Whichever stance you take...just hit the SOB! Chuck
  13. You are right. I was thinking of those people in the world who cannot own guns. Here I am in the 'Land of the free, home of the brave' and all it's privilages. They want to talk about costs!? If you want a GOOD gun, you're gonna have to pay for it! GOOD guns ain't cheap! It would cost more to try to rid the world of guns! Gimme a break! I'll just keep mine, thank you very much! So true! If, a citizen with a gun can stop/prevent one crime from being comitted and the person comitting the crime is killed by a gun owner... look at the savings to the city, county and state! Costs of a trial, cost of housing and clothing the 'culprit'... sheesh!
  14. Stay calm, good aim and.... squeeeze the trigger! Can't be shakin' like a dog shittin' peach seeds! Chuck
  15. Yeah, I know. I never missed an episode of her show. What a fine show it was! A cast of greedy mis-fits, sucking-up to this 'po' lil' gal' who stood a big chance of getting rich and visions of huge dollar signs dancing in their heads should she get all that money. She played DIRTY! She filed her complaint in a California court. A California judge ruled on it in her favor. WRONG ANSWER!!! Anna's husband was a Texas resident, she was/is a Texas resident. All the paperwork was filed in Texas. That California judge SHOULD have thrown it out of his court and sent her packin' her happy little ass back to Texas! Aw yeah, I'm cryin' tears big as horse-turds over that 'poor little lass'! Her late husband's family may be just as greedy and under-handed but, they did it 'according to the law'. Now, that Anna Nicole ain't gonna 'strike it rich', let's all sit-back and see who 'sticks' by her!? Adios T.V. show, adios Howard Stern (her lawyer), adios publicity... All that aside, I see exactly what you are saying and LOVE the sarcasm!!! Chuck
  16. To me, 'gun control' is a moot point. I guess, like anything else, there will always be pros and cons in regard to gun ownership. This great country of ours, was in many ways, 'settled' with guns. for good or bad, guns have played a role in in this country. They continue to play a role in our society. We have the 'privilage' to legally own guns. The bad guys will have guns, whether we like it or not. I don't 'expect' trouble but, I'm 'legally' prepared! Chuck
  17. Several years ago, an elderly lady in Chicago, was going to her bank to make a deposit. A young thug, tried to 'wrestle' her purse from her. The elderly lady, maintained control of her purse and beat the would-be purse snatcher half to death. When police arrived, they deemed it necessary to call an ambulance for the thug! The thug was charged with assault and attempted robbery. The elderly lady was a 'hero'! I neglected to mention... the elderly lady's purse contained several rolls of quarters. Talk about 'armed and dangerous'! So, as it has been pointed-out, anything can be a weapon. Either for wrong or right. Chuck
  18. Poor little thing. I don't see Anna Nicole goin' hungry! Ain't that just too damned bad. The little golddigger lost out.
  19. Whoever was looking in your basement windows, obviously fled before police got there. Did you happen to notice if, the officer(s) searched the neighborhood? In the officer's 'own' way, I think, he was trying to be consoling. If, you feel that you were 'wronged' by the officer(s), talk with a Sergeant or someone else at the department. Cops are human, too. Maybe, he was having a bad night or something was bothering him. Just don't let that one incident deter you from calling them in the future. Chuck
  20. ...or badminton rackets, pipe wrenches, crow-bars, anything can be a weapon. The human fist! So, it looks like a stand-off. The good guys vs the bad guys. That is why, we have police officers. Let 'em do their job!
  21. We'll never be able to keep guns from getting into the 'wrong' hands. Someone with 'ill-intent' and wants a gun, WILL get a gun.
  22. At 19, that 'boy' should know the difference between right and wrong and especially, you don't approach a police officer weilding a knife and a hatchet! At 19, he's no longer a 'kid'. Also, I think, we need more facts in regard to this matter. There may be more to this than is in the press.
  23. Another officer, in Georgia, was killed today! The officer approached a 'roll-over' accident, only to be shot to death by the occupant of the 'rolled-over' vehicle.
  24. It's a truly sad story. I don't believe, that cop should've waited to see just exactly what the teen was going to do with that hatchet and knife. From the news article, it appears as though, the officer responded in accordance with his training. He did his job. I feel bad for the police officer as well as the kid's family. Both parties, I'm sure, will have a hard time getting over it. Chuck
