  4. The only listing I could find in para-gear was for OD green. I hate to sound stupid but, I never heard of B thread or #46 Nylon thread until now. That's the cool thing about DZ.com... you can always learn something! You might try contacting: Synthetic Thread Co. of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Chuck
  5. I stand corrected on the use of E-thread with 500-lb. Vectran. Thanks all for the info. Chuck
  6. Poynter's covers this topic. 'E' - thread is correct and 50% of the line width. This way, all the layers of line involved in the finger-trapped line will be stitched. 1" long bar-tack. Sounds like, you're on the right track. Chuck
  7. Yeah, I think the Navy using fids or marlinspikes to splice lines predated parachuting by just a smidgen....
  8. Some people also refer to packing paddles as "fids" though I don't know why ... ______________________________ If, I'm not mistaken, the term 'fid', is a Navy term. I've seen reference to fids in Navy manuals. Chuck
  9. That has a damn good chance of working on me!! ________________________ Chuck
  10. _______________________________ That's good! Chuck
  11. How did we turn this thread to guns? Interesting! Chuck

Ripcord! That was it! Thanks for sharing the story. Chuck
  14. That's a new one on me! I've heard 'French Links' but, never 'Swiss Links'! Are those twicky Swiss holding out on us? Chuck

Is that the film where I believe, it was Raquel Welch landed in a swimming pool? Been years, since I saw that one. Im not sure but, I think, that movie became a t.v. series in the early 1950's (?). Chuck
  16. I think,it's one of those terms that got 'confused', years ago and became 'accepted'. We have a guy at our DZ, who refers to leg-straps on a harness-container as 'leggings'. I tried, a long time ago to correct him and soon gave up. I have, in my tool kit, both, a fid and a finger-trapping tool and as you said, I don't think, I can finger-trap with a fid. Maybe, it's just easier to say 'fid'. Chuck
  17. ___________________________ I haven't heard anything different, since I spoke with one of the folks from SSM but, it was up for sale but the deal fell through. Phil, Deb and all the gang are still there. Chuck
  18. What is the size of the Tempo in question? You might try contacting Aerodyne... they're on the net. Chuck
  19. Shouldn't hurt a thing, to remove the advertising. The stitch holes should make no difference in performance, either. You will have the same stitch holes as when the letters were sewn-on. Just be real careful, picking all those stitches. Also, be sure, none of the lettering or advertising is not sewn into structural seams. If not, no problem. Chuck
  20. It all about 'heart'. It's about gettin' up when you've fallen. It's all about how you handle it and what you want out of it and goin after it. You'll be fine. Chuck
  21. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. It'll hold you back from what you want to achieve. Take those mistakes and learn from them and don't do them again. It was only Jump #32. Quit beatin' yourself up. It's all a learning curve. Keep doing that same dive till you get it right... then go to the next dive. Repetition is the best teacher. You're going to be fine. Chuck
  22. ____________________________ That's true. Chuck
  23. Sorry to hear that! Two things I hate in this world... a liar and a damned thief! Chuck
  24. _________________________ That might be a shocker, for sure. Chuck
