If you found a bank bag full of money, would you return it to the bank?
masterrig replied to JohnRich's topic in The Bonfire
In the long run, that money is other people's money. Those sacks contain deposits from businesses and individuals. Stealing is stealing! 'I found it!' is not a good reason for keeping it. We all know where it came from. Chuck -
I'd say, the first chance you get to visit with your mechanic, just level with him on what happened. I'm sure he'll understand. Odds are, something similar has happened to him! Express to him your deepest condolences. Then too, in his grief, he hasn't given it a second thought. Chuck

Yeah, and a Swastika is just an Asian good luck charm. The fact is the meaning and impact of the Stars and Bars has been forever hijacked by the White Power/Neo Confederate/Klan movements, and no amount of revisionism will change this fact. Adopt a new symbol, Dixie. Sorry but Dixie is not PC anymore. Wait a minute! What about 'Dixie'... the song? I wish I were in 'the Southern United States of America' just doesn't work! It has a nice rig to it as a 'statement' but not in the lyrics! Sorry man but PC don't cut it anyhow! Chuck

http://vigilantcitizen.com/sinistersites/sinister-sites-the-denver-international-airport/ If there is a gateway to hell, it's Denver airport. Un-believable!!! I saw a story about this on The History Channel! Incredible. Chuck

I recall, my uncle, having a book that showed all the various army insignias and etc. and I remember that particular one. Chuck

Yessir! Good to know that folks 'learned'! Chuck

Well, it's a bit more then a good luck symbol, it has been a sacred symbol in large parts of Asia for millennia, and that short episode in European history hasn't changed that a bit. Do you really expect hundreds of millions of people to simply adopt another symbol because someone on another continent waged a world war and committed genocide under that symbol? If, I may add... the swastika can be found in some Native People's art work and drawings in this country. Chuck And, if you look at a satellite image, you can sort of see it in the Denver International Airport's runway layout... which I'm sure was totally unintended. Are you stretching your imagination... again? Chuck Not really, it doesnt really resemble the swastika anyhow. There was talk about it after the airport was built and the airport does have runways that run in all four directions with the terminal in the middle... O.K.... I see what you're saying. I'll have to get on Google Earth and check it out! Chuck

that's not funny - it's hurtful, and I resent being called up tight. Why won't you think of ME for once? Damn you! Just when I take a sip of coffee... you gotta' post that! Yeah, I'm thinkin' of ya' all-right! !!! Chuck

I think, we've lost our sense of humor. Too many people are too sensitive, too up-tight and too self-centered. Chuck

The organization was formed in the 'South" and since there was already a U.S. Air Force, someone suggested 'The Confederate Air Force'... tongue in cheek. It caught on and the group grew as interested pilots, most of whom flew in WWII and Korea joined to preserve the aging air craft. That name stuck for years, until some 'sensitive' group gained enough support to get them to change their name. Not wanting to offend anyone, they changed it. Funny thing about it... there have been and are Black members. Also, the group rarely ever, displayed the Flag of the Confederacy. It's always been the U.S. Flag. Chuck They also have planes based in "the north" - there is a CAF C-47 at my home base in IL. You bet! It's really a great group of men and women. Women who served our country in the armed forces have done and do a great job keeping the organization alive and running. Really, a wonderful group of people with a common interest. Chuck

Here's a little something about the Commemerative Air Force. Chuck

The white hood and robe weren't a dead give-away? The 'Confederate Air Force' had to change their name to 'Commemerative Air Force' because too many 'un-knowledgeable' people thought the original name was 'racist'. We all know, that group of pilots only strive to keep the 'war birds' alive and flying. To me, those folks wanting the group to change their name, is a case of ignorance and bigotry! I've had the opportunity to get to know members of the (now) 'Commerative Air Force' and not one of them came across as racists and bigots. All they want to do is preserve a piece of history. Chuck

Shhhhhh don't let that get out. We all know it goes-on but when you hear some lobbyist come right-out and talk about it... I wanted to throw a rock at my t.v.! Chuck

I watched a story on 60-Minutes recently, about the most notorious lobbyist in Washington. Before he went to the pen, he was worth millions and had Senators and Congressmen flocking to him to get some of the 'action'. When interviewed, he told of how he skirted laws and regulations to get to various politicians. I'm not saying that ALL lobbyists are crooked but the 60-minutes story did point-out how politicians have their hands-out looking for the perks. Chuck

Poor guy - had a name that sounds like a nasty intestinal parasite. There was an issue of MAD Magazine around the time of Agnew that had a bit in it about 'Spirochete'! Every time I heard Spiro Agnew's name, my thoughts went to MAD Magazine! Chuck

I was trying to be considerate... Chuck

He doesn't qualify there! Something that bothers me is, we all know we need to 'change'. We need to get rid of the old guard... clean house. Every election year we get 'new candidates' who have nothing to offer and so, it's business as usual. Why, can't we get 'real' candidates who aren't self-centered, self serving, spin-doctors and not to mention 'half crooked'. What's a voter to do? Chuck When you have a government OF the 1%, BY the 1% and FOR the 1%, there can and will be no change. As the man said.. follow the money. The only reason to go into politics for most politicians is the money and prestige. There are very few left who actually believe in service to their country. Even those who USED to believe in it seem to become just more Duke Cunninghams. Yup! It's passed allong to each 'next generation' and the 'good ol' boys' marches to the beat of drum of the obscenely rich. Meanwhile, us 'mushrooms' get the 'scraps' of whatever they are willing to toss at us. Before you know it, election time is here and suddenly, me and a whole bunch of other folks are the most important little things walking! After the election, it's; "You are WHO?" Chuck

It is a Brave New World, indeed. I have to admit that there is some consolation in being monitored - assuming you are on the side of the angels. If someone accuses me of taking drugs and I am clean when tested for long-term residuals, that is reassuring. If somebody accuses me of doing something inappropriate and I can get video of me eating a sandwich in the cafeteria at the time in question, I am in the clear. The only time I have been bitten by false accusations, I had the means at my disposal (but not the presence of mind) to record the events as they took place. Had I been able produce video, the hysteria that resulted from the vindictive claim would have simply withered on the vine. As it was, I was subjected to an "educational experience." I am not sure what I learned, but the tuition was impressive, indeed. BSBD, Winsor That's scarey! Too often, all the gadgets and gizmos we have available to us, could be used for 'good'. More often, they are used for self-gain'. I do, love the fact that law enforcement uses youtube to catch bad guys. Chuck

Thank you! Excellent point. Wanting to do the job the way it was intended to be done, I don't think, would hurt. Chuck

Agreed. Outside of reading a prepared script he has no idea about a single thing other than the operating of a pizza shop! They guy may have been good at running his business, but outside of that I think he is a dunce! Why are we stuck with another shit sandwitch of candidates again this election??! I'm afraid, we're 'in the weeds' in that department. To me, it would take a complete house cleaning or reducing the length of terms that congressmen can serve. Candidates with the ability, knowledge and 'moral terpitude' and aren't self centered and self serving. Someone who really wants to do the job and uphold what that job stands for. Just my thought. Chuck

Perhaps not, but phone records apparantly indicate significant interaction between Cain and his most recent accuser. Even though I am acutely aware of how false accusations can be used to great effect, I am unimpressed with the parts of the story that appear to be undisputed. I am constantly amazed by people in the public eye who somehow think they can engage in indiscretions without someone catching on. Think Bill Clinton or Ashton Kutcher. I have long worked in an environment where one may expect to be on camera at any time. If one is to engage in unacceptable behavior on the job, it will likely result in being escorted to the gate by Security. As a result, I cannot recall the last time I heard of a harassment charge; if a false charge was filed, one need only review the video to put the issue to rest. Regardless of whether Cain withdraws (a near-certainty at this point), nobody on either side of the aisle is anywhere near competent to assume the Presidency in light of the issues we now face (Ron Paul comes closest). The incumbent is a nice little fella, but his long suit is eloquence coupled with brute force and ignorance - not an effective combination in the long run. I plan to write in Spiro Agnew if Ron Paul does not get the nod. To do otherwise is to reward bad behavior. BSBD, Winsor Visions of 'Big Brother'! We have been so fearful of our government spying on us we forget about security cameras, cell-phone cameras... with audio! Big Brother is everywhere! strangers, neighbors, everyone is a 'spy' and noone is safe and secure from it. Those who believe they are, ala Kutcher, etc. are living in another world. Big Brother is US! Chuck
