They only thing I disagree with you on is definition of war, which is not to kill as many people as possible and destroy as much of a country as possible. That is simply not true. Destroying the armed forces is a real objective, but we do accept surrender as well. So if our only purpose was mass distruction, we would not accept surrender would we? As for ravaging the countryside? Again, as it has been said around here, oil is the reason for this conflict. If we destory the country we will not get that oil. So our definition of war my dear friend is not complete and utter destruction. It's more like sporadic, restrained destruction. I do have a question for you. You keep throwing that 100,000 people death toll around. What percentage of that was actual combatants? How much of that can be really known to be innocent women and children? Where do these numbers come from? Please do not tell me Iraq. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

So you are saying there were no Jews in Israel from 2000 years ago until 1948?? They were all there, then left, then we just picked Israel out of a hat to put them all back into? "Well you Jews, the final choice was between Florida and Israel, We would like to save Florida as a nice retirement community, so Israel it is!" I mean by what manner did anyone decide that the Jews were getting Israel? I also understand that in many areas the Jews and Palestinians have lived in relative harmony. The whole thing is very fucked up. The solution is very obvious. The U.S takes over Jamaica. We kick the Rasta Heads outta their homes and send them to the Middle East. In six months nobodee feel like fightin anymore mon. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

So what you are saying is that because white settlers, which became the U.S., slaughtered the Indians, the Jews don't get to be in Israel??? JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

You got lots of stalkers darling.....Most of them are more graceful and less conspicous than my "smooth move brother". JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Yes, it is kinda of what I was saying as being oversimplified pschology. Mentally we warp our logic and rationale to make things easier to handle, to justify our behaivor. We alcoholics have used this mental defense forever to get away with the mass drinking we did. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I'm not sure what you asking. If you have a question please rephrase it, if you have point make it. If my statement confused you I shall rephrase: Were not the Jews originally from the Middle East? If so, why do they not have a right to be where they are now? (According to some Muslim extremeists) What white settlers did to the Indians is of no relevance to the Middle East, unless of course you are simple saying that throughtout history mankind has practiced "might makes right" and "to the victor goes the spoils"? I gotta start using the spell check. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

The Middle East has been screwed up long before we killed them. Their hatred of us goes beyond the Gulf War and extends well past Iraq. So I would have to say that not only bought into that mythos, but smoked it heavily. One aspect of that shit I do not understand is their idea that the State of Israel does not belong their, that the Jews have no right to be there. That our support of Israel is one of the key factors in their hatred of us. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were not the Jews from the Middle East? JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I bet if Michele posted nude pics of herself, she'd sway the vote! JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Tuesday At 5: Chilling Video From Skies Over Washington...

Well, who watched it and how was it? JJ "Call me Darth Balls" -
I cannot think of a reason that a student would be allowed to leave the plane without an altimeter. That is just plain fucked up. I have jumped without an alti recently and it was not enjoyable. No matter hoiw good my judgement may or may not be, it will never be as good as a working instrument. The alti may fail, and then I should have the knowledge and ability to deal with it. But I would never assume a student has that. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Cool, I get to see you when I visit my brother. He lives in Elsinore. You remember him? The one that walked into the door.... JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

Cool, now you are on to something...night jumps to get your A license!!! JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

I've done a few sunset loads that got a little late of a departure. By the time we hit the ground, it was pretty much dusk. Not night, but not daylight either. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

A little over simplified psychology. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"

At 8 jumps does he belong under it? No. Give him another 20 or so jumps and he will be fine. Wingloading is pretty much going to dictate how fast the canopy will turn. Let him talk to the people he's jumping with. Let him rent some gear for a bit, even demo a 150 for a few weeks. If he treats the canopy with respect, flies it conservatively he will will be fine. SDI has a pretty wide open landing area, lots of outs. The instructors there will give him the advice he needs. Even if sits on the canopy for the whole season, if he's getting a deal on it it would be a good thing for him to have. At his weight, he could be jumping this canopy in a pretty short time...if he so chooses. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
Yeah yeah, we all know any canopy can kill you. Yes a Sabre is zero p, and yes he would NOT be wingloading at more than 1 to 1, if that. He weighs 115 lbs. Yes a Sabre is fast. Faster than a Stiletto, because it is a steeper angle, in straight and level flight. It will never handle like a Stil, however as it is still square. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
I didn't say it was a good choice, I said it wasn't a bad choice. A Sabre is not a high performance canopy. He also said he was going to jump rental gear for awhile. I did also ask him to check with the people at SDI, whom I know as I did my student work there. Unlike your wife, shortly after student status, like at 15 jumps I downsized to a Tri 160, with put me at a 1 to 1 about. Admittly there is a whole other learning curve to start with. Anytime that any jumper downsizes that learning curve starts all over again. And no jumper that downsizes is able to handle that new canopy as well as the previous one. All that aside I fail to see your point. I did advise some measure of caution. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
My ass, for two reasons....not so great landings and the lack of weight in my wallet from spending all my cash on jumps and gear. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
At your weight that is not a bad choice. You'll still be at a 1 to 1 ratio. Will it be a big change?? Hell yes. It was a big change going from a student 200 something to a Triathalon 160...and I got the grass stains in my ears to prove it. The 135 is going to fly faster straight and level, turn faster, burn more altitude.and flare a lot more. All of which you have to be ready for...... You're out at Morris and there are some good people over there. Ask them what they think, but if you don't feel you are ready, don't do it. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
-
Both are good canopies. I did not like the Stil because how twitchy it seemed on toggles, and I didn't think the flare was all that great. It was a 135 and somebody told me the flare would be better if I increased the wingloading, by dropping to a 120. I didn't put more than 30 jumps on a Stil. I have a Cobalt 120 and am getting a 105. I love the Cobalt a great deal. It is probably not more responsive in toggles, has lighter riser pressure and more flare. The openings are great, but did take some getting used to. I don't like a big snivel, so I pack it with nothing rolled and I can get a nice quick soft 500 foot opening. I have had line twists and was able to grab a riser, pull it down and have the canopy plane out, fly straight and give me time to kick out. You could problably do this on a Stil, I naver had line twists on the Stil however. JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
