  4. Yeah i had the same problem.. was stopped, just knew the shit was about to start about the parachute.. the guy had me take my parachute out, rummaged around and came out with a small screwdriver i (used) to use on my camera.. they kept the screwdriver and let me go..
  5. Is it in any stretch of the imagination possible to fly a wingsuit in a windtunnel?

  7. Was looking on british airway's website about baggage restrictions, they list "dry ice" , "christmas crackers" and "cooking oil" as no,nos. Can someone explain to me why: A) dry ice & cooking oil are no nos and B) what the hell a christmas cracker is Thanks! Kevin
  8. Well whoever owns the damn thing I hope they put the other DZ in vegas out of business... (unless this new DZ also doesn't allow experienced jumpers to jump there)
  9. Humm i haven't been ballsy enough to try not doing anything to the nose..
  10. Thanks! very informative.
  11. Maybe I should get in the business of reselling PISA canopys for twice the price.. think they'll get more respect then? I love my hornet other than the fact my girlfriend's cat pissed on my rig, so now my rig and part of my hornet smell like cat pee the canopy performs well. I found out however that i have to roll each side of my nose into the center cell to get a nice soft opening rolling the entire nose always wacks me. Anyone else have this experience? BTW what is the smallest hornet they make? I jump a 135 and haven't seen anyone else with one that size..
  12. For those of you who travel commerical airlines with your rig, do you feel safer? Have you actually thought about "emergency procedures" if the plane did have some problem? Did those emergency procedures include you jumping up out of your seat grabbing your carry on luggage from the bin above you and dawning your rig? (even though the logistics of you jumping out of a commerical jet are slim to none) Just curious if I was the only one
  13. What is the best way to exit a cessana with a wingsuit? I know walking out on the step is pretty much out of the question, would it be diving out with all wings collapsed?
  14. So I finally found some DZs near Zurich... don't know what my luck will be communicating with the locals, but their website says jump prices are 39 CHF to 3'800 meters.. how many feet is that? Anyone know how much money that is too? :)
  15. Holy mutha.. did someone just leave a wingsuit at a DZ? humm... maybe I can buy it, it'll beat my 8 week wait .. heehe :)
  16. Posted this on the wrong fourm: Hey, anyone else having these problems? I hit search from the top right of the screen and get: Software error: Cannot open /home/wgrobler/www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/database/files: at ksearch.cgi line 80. For help, please send mail to the webmaster (root@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. I try to send a postcard in the galleries (send an image as postcard) and get: Error: Content-type: text/html Could not open /home/wgrobler/web/html/data/includes/stylesheets.ssi. 18. Okay - so I admit, I'm one of those people who believes that at some point it will be possible to land a birdman suit. Call me crazy if you will, but I seriously think it is possible - perhaps even in this day and age. I was thinking on the way up to altitude this past weekend of a way it may be doable. It hit me - stunt people jump off 12 story buildings all the time and land on those huge inflatable pillows... what would the vertical speed be from a fall like that? at least 60 MPH right? You can get a birdman suit down to that fall rate, right? If you could find someone to create a air pillow the length of a runway wouldnl't that be plenty of room to land a birdman suit? (somewhat safely) The other idea I had is a way aways, the technology isn't here yet - but having some type of wheels strapped to your chest and be able to "swoop" in for a landing thus creating enough forward speed to create lift at the last minute.. course you screw up your timing you're screwed.. :)
  19. I ordered mine last week with the atmotex.. i've seen both talked to pilots with both and the atmotex seems to be "bearable" and not too hot in a fairly humid/hot jumping environment. I definately like how much more durable feeling the atmotex is so that is what i went with - i jump in VA and MS and rarely jump in the winter... I figured if i'm going to spend 700+ bucks on a suit I want it to last.. I know the Balloon ZP is durable as well and you probably won't have problems with it, but I guess for peace of mind I went with the more durable material... Kevin
  20. In that cutaway was it necessary to cut your wings? The understanding I have from when I went through everything you have enough range of movement to cut your main and deploy a reserve without cutting wings.. was it just a precaution of yours? Thanks! Kevin
  21. Well t-minus 8 weeks and counting i just ordered my 1st birdman suit! (thank you Jari for making this possible..
  22. Wonder what you could get with a wingsuit.. guess you would need O2 strapped to you wouldn't you?
