  1. Ah, yes...let the conjecture begin...soon it will be viewed as a blatantly obvious fact. With all due respect, you're once again turning the definition of conjecture on its head. It's a deficiency of logic in your method of analysis that I've seen you use frequently. Prior to this, I've only talked about conjecture twice, over three years ago...are you also confused about the definition of frequent. ...and attributing this discovery to all life is about as careless as suggesting that maybe we should start adding small amounts of arsenic to our diet. Can you hear the swoosh sound as the point just went over your head?!
  2. Ok, I am confused. I just watched that video and saw nothing referring to any deity. What I did see is people talking about a life form that evolved to live in an environment that was previously believed to be uninhabitable. There is still no evidence of any deity.
  3. The SEAL guys that I have met tend to avoid drawing attention to themselves. So anyone that is wearing a pin or anything not official like full uniform I automatically question their validity. There are a lot of people out there that are in the "wanna be" category that I think are just best off just ingnored. Why make a big deal out of nothing. It's somewhat like the tandem that likes to brag and make it look like he skydives all of the time. I prefer just to ignore people like that.
  4. The tunnel instructors might not complain
  5. didn't know the actual number? that doesn't sound being very safe on your part I am pretty certain he meant that he didn't know how many made it into the formation. Nothing unsafe about that, you should try asking questions rather then assuming.
  6. From what I have heard from Skydive Houston and Skydive Dallas, they have done well with the groupon. Of course there are a percentage that are never redeemed and those that are redeemed usually bring in friends or family that buy tandems along with the groupon.
  7. I think the hard reality is that no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions. It's easier to find someone to blame. Someone they can hurt to attempt to make themselves feel better and lawsuits are a way to fulfill that effort. Parents don't want to accept that guilt of letting their child take part in a risky sport and suffer the consequences of a mistake and skydiving is very unforgiving and will kill. As we all know skydiving is dangerous and can kill or paralyze you for life. If any parent allows their child to skydive they should be ready to accept the possibility of their child suffering the ultimate consequence with out looking to blame anyone but themselves.
  8. Well if there weren't greedy people looking to strike it big with a lawsuit then there wouldn't be lawyers to help them.
  9. You can thank the lawsuit happy American public for this. Of the people by the people!!!
  10. No weather holds for the recirculating tunnels!
  11. I don't think there is anyway to prepare for this scenario. If you are just coming to at 300 to 500 feet your reactions are going to be slow to begin with and very little time to do anything. Only thing you can do is get as much nylon out as possible.
  12. I don't think it's a big deal if he used the word stick and really don't see how that is better then just using the term group. I have never been to a dropzone that commonly used the term stick. I think everyone would be able to figure out what he is talking about, but it isn't a common sport skydiving term.
  13. But there are also those that have 500-600 jumps and 4-5 reserve rides. Those are pretty small minority.
  14. From my perspective, I am not seeing a high number of reserve rides. I have just over 2000 jumps and only one reserve ride. I think the average is one in 500 maybe? Not sure about that. I know of others that have gone over 2000 jumps with out a reserve ride.
  15. I am with you on that! It's a silly US politically correct term. To add to this, I think it's a very devisive term. It singles out groups based on race. There really is no such thing as African American or Mexican American or in this case Indian American. Like you said you are either American or you are not. But it makes the politically correct crowd feel better because the are acknowledging the minorities, or so they think.
  16. One thing that he said stands out to me. He said and I paraprase, if the Palestinians put down their weapons and quit fighting then there would be peace, but if the Isrealis put down their weapons and quit fighting then they would be destroyed. I think that is pretty much true. Everything the Palestinians do and say supports this. They have no interest in coexisting with the Israelis. If the Palestinians wanted peace they would have it. They need to put the past behind them and deal with the situation as it is now. To be clear I don't think the Israelis are angels. They have not dealt with situation very well either, but from what I can see of the situation the Palestinians are driving the violence. They use every excuse in the book to justify their hate of Israelis and the violence.
  17. The Cowboys stadium is now in Arlington and isn't close to Cool River. You're thinking of Texas stadium that was demolished.
  18. I don't think a door is necessary. I have recently jumped a 182 that didn't have a right door at all. I think my FJC was about 8 hours long. It was sufficient for a first jump.
  19. Guy like that really deserves to be in prison general population and make no secret as to what he did to end up in prison. The inmates will take good care of him.
  20. There were some who replied to all just to throw in some smart ass comment. The only thing that is saving the servers is there wasn't a big attachment on it. We had that happen once before. No matter how few people you restrict the All groups to there eventually will be someone who does have access that accidentally sends out an email that they didn't mean to send. When I did manage the email system our HR manager accidentally sent out an email with an Excel document that had everyones salary listed!! He sent it to all the supervisors and then wanted me to do something about it. Once it's gone it's gone!
  21. They added a group that has multiple groups underneath it, that pretty much covers everyone. I deleted the orginal email, but I think it was in the CC field.
  22. We just had someone accidentally send an email out to every one in the entire company of about 40,000 employees. It amazing the number of people that did a reply to all to say the email wasn't supposed to be sent to them and then the reply to all emails telling people to not reply to all ... It's still going on! I don't think I could have designed virus to cause this much insanity!
  23. You're right. Freeflying is a very difficult discipline and can be very frustrating at times. I have spent a lot of money and jumps to get to my current level and I still have a long ways to go to reach my goals. But I am enjoying the journey. It feels good when you finally nail a good stable sitfly or the first time you manage to take a dock, even if it isn't perfect.
  24. Yes I think it's insufficient. A hard track can cover a lot of distance and at the number of jumps you have it's highly unlikely that you are really aware of your position. Your are better off working on sit flying. It's my opinion that you gain very very little by working on head down by yourself. It really takes a coach or tunnel time to really know how well you are doing and what you need to correct. I learned head down in the sky with coaching and then I had to undo a lot of bad habits that I developed once I got in the tunnel.
  25. The biggest problem with trying these things on your own is tracking above or below other groups. You are better off learning with a coach then trying it by yourself and it will be safer for everyone else in the sky.
