ahh so their "High Definition" lens is a waste of money?
-
Do you know if anyone is using the Sony High Grade .7x lens and how does that compare in number of lines to the Raynox 5050 lens? I know it's not a very wide angle lens.
-
damn, that really looks promising. Any idea what the cost will be?

My Recent Radio Interview for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus
beowulf replied to Douva's topic in Speakers Corner
As far as I can tell the CCW process does nothing significantly more then is already in place to stop criminals from buying guns. I think the reason that criminals don't go through the trouble of getting a CCW is because they can't pass the background check (that is required to purchase a gun) and probably don't want to pay the money to do what they already do illegally (that is carry a concealed weapon). Why would a criminal want to pay to do what they already do illegally with an illegally purchased gun? I don't think criminals purchase guns legally. Does anyone have the statistics on how many murders are committed by people with legally owned firearms? -
IS THERE AN "ALL-AROUND" SKYDIVING COMPETITION?
beowulf replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It would be better to have the CRW canopy as a tertiary. My biggest gripe would be the possibility of losing the canopy. Who knows how far away that canopy would end up after being cut away so high. I can't afford single use canopies. -
I just bought the HC5 for $729 total including shipping at Amazon. I just received yesterday. Haven't fully tested it out yet.
-
I think their canopy progression will depend more on the persons personality then it will on their skills in the air.
-
Yeah I agree with you. I wish would have had the opportunity to fly in a windtunnel when I was 8 or 9 years old. I think the windtunnel is a great primer for skydiving.
-
as long as they stop calling it "indoor skydiving" talk about trying to make a nondangerous activity sound crazy and exciting. Tunnel flying isn't with out it's own dangers. Freeflying in the tunnel can be very dangerous.
-
I don't think the tunnel will replace skydiving. I think it will get kids interested in skydiving at an earlier age. The tunnel is a good example of what freefall is all about. It gives them a way to relate to freeflying or RW. But it can't teach them about swooping or CReW. Tunnel flying can't cover everything possible in the sky. Like tracking or autmonauti or diving down to a large formation.
-
Good point. I wonder if the kids start off young enough by the time the kids get old enough to jump how much money will mom and dad will have shelled out for tunnel time. I'd rather put the $$$ away for the kids college education or to bankroll their pro gambling career R.I.P. The parents that can afford to send their kids to the tunnel regularly most likely have plenty of money to send them to college.
-
Once those kids get old enough to skydive it will be interesting to see what kind of impact they have on skydiving.

Midway is easier to get in and out of and is somewhat closer to Ottawa.
-
damn! now that's a camera. Have you tried any freeflying with it?

So you don't think if everyone today switched to Linux or Apple the hackers wouldn't change up their tactics and target those OS's just as heavily as Windows? I am not talking about the past. I am talking about today. Today nearly all the virii are targeting Windows users. There have been a very few that targeted Linux. I haven't heard of any for Apple. It really isn't worth their time or effort today to write spyware or virii for Linux or any other unix based platform when all their targets are on Windows. The fact that Windows is not as secure as those others is just a bonus.

I'll be right there BillVon. Send me your address. Sight is so over rated.

I run these OS's: - Solaris - FreeBSD - OpenBSD - DragonflyBSD - NetBSD - Linux - Mac OS X I've never had a virus or a break-in. Now why is that one "builder" unable to build a secure house while everyone else can? And please don't trot out that tire old "because it the biggest part of the market" apology. I've heard it all before. When a hacker can be physically present anywhere on the planet, and attack a box anywhere else, it is as hopeless to try to use enforcement again them, as it is to leave your doors and windows wide open and try to chase out all the birds and squirrels that come in because your builder was too stupid to install screens. That's really not a fair assesment. Part of the reason that there are so many viri for Windows is because Windows OS's are the most common ones that consumers are using and they are the targets. If the majority of users had Linux then the hackers would be targeting Linux more then Windows. The ease of hacking into them is just added benefit for the hackers. But most of the spyware depends on the user being stupid. I run Windows 2000 on one computer at home and Windows XP on my work laptop and never have any problems with viri or spyware.

I think your imagined similaritys are pretty worthless and would be different for each person imagining the similaritys. Such subjective observations are pretty useless. So what if you find similaritys between religion and whatever. How is that useful for anything? Religion is what people imagined to create a structured world around them and to explain what they didn't understand.

Come on down to Texas and let me throw a rock at you. Remeber it's only imagined solid. BTW that pain is only in your imagination. Let me shine a big bright light in your eyes. Don't worry you aren't really seeing it your imagining it, so it really doesn't hurt, your imagining the pain. This philosophy is fun. Why don't you come on over so I can hit you over the head with an imagined baseball bat.
-
You can imagine all kinds of similiaritys, but that's all they are, imagined.
-
What do you mean by that? I am sure there are many Muslims who are very happy and fullfilled by their beliefs.

Your canopy choices and downsize history

All jump number are approximated so it won't add up to my current total jumps. Student gear 210 - 220 (20 jumps) PD 9 cell 150 (75 jumps) from around jump 20 to 90 Sabre 150 (5 jumps) Sabre 2 150 (800 jumps)from around jump 90 to 850 Lightning 143 (5 jumps) Lightning 160 (5 jumps) Lightning 126 (2 jumps) PD Reserve 143 (1 jump) Sabre 2 135 (200 jumps) 850 to 1194 the others were mixed in with the Sabre 2 150 jumps I currently jump the Sabre 2 135 and will probably have that for the next 2 years. -
I consider those who pray to god to be essentially asking for magical help.

There is no evidence that Christianity is offering anything more then empty promises. Comparing Christianity's empty promises to other religions empty promises is pretty pointless.

I think the result would be the same as what happened during the 1920 Prohibition. They can't stop the sale and usage of illegal drugs. Make alcohol illegal and you will make some millionaires.
