*** yes, to a point it would do the same effect as pulling down on rears. you are pulling the risers out, and barily, if at all, pullin down on the brakes. i would say this would help make you swoop a bit longer. later

ya, i've been do playa del carman a 3 times, on different trips. that place rocks. it's about 20 miles south of cancun. if you can make it down there, there is a dz. all beach landings. the site is amazing. check it out,www.skydive.com.mx later

well, i know that the javelin's are rated up to 300 pounds. and they are tso c-23d. wings are 23-d. the reflex's are 23-d. and i can't think of anymore that i know for a fact are 23-d (i'm sure there are more, i just don't can't remember right now). later

-
well you couldn't jump out of it, but it was there for rides. don kirlin owns like 3 or 4 or maybe more, i can't remember. and i can't remember how much it was for a ride, but it was a lot. that was bad all though to see in real life. later

180 day reserve repack cycle - still fiction ?
skygod7777 replied to callahan's topic in Gear and Rigging
ah f#*$. like i said, i was out of it last night. they brought something like this up, and it came to it really wouldn't be a whole lot closer inspection, but it would be more maintenance (not sure how) or something. i kinda disagree, (i forgot to put that in last night) it really wouldn't be a big difference at all. you should already be going over the whole canopy, risers, rig, everying very closely anyway, so it really wouldn't be any different. later -
hahaha that's funny as hell. i want to go grab one of the student canopies and try that. it would be kinda fun. that only thing would be that the landing from that jump would suck ass, all slow and shit. maybe i'll just try it with my vx 85.......................NOT later

180 day reserve repack cycle - still fiction ?
skygod7777 replied to callahan's topic in Gear and Rigging
ya, they were talking about it in the riggers forum at PIA. they said they were working on it, but they had to get some drop tests done with rigs that had been backed for 180 days, and compare them to test with rigs that had been packed for 120 days. They also have to show that it will still be safe, for the inspection. they aren't sure how good of an idea it is for the inspection, because more stuff can happen in that time period, such as more time for a pop to get spilled on the rig, with out you knowing it, and it sitting longer. and there are more, but it's 3:30 in the morning here, and i'm kinda out of it. another aspect they are looking at would be the prices or a repack would go up, and there not too sure how much yet. i mean, there would be more involved, you already have to do a close inspection, but with it being 180 days, it would have to be even a closer inspection. i wouldn't count on it happening too soon. maybe in the next year or year and a half at best. but this is just my opinion on when it will happen, if it does, they tried this a while back, and the FAA said no. later -
160 and counting............can't wait. but of course i'll be stuck packing half the time. but it's well worth it. but everyone has to remember if you stop by the martini shot trailer, you got to walk around back and say high to the packers, i mean we really make the video happen edit: i just got down watching the video, it was really good, nice job phreezone later

i would say that that is a false statment. there are many good suits out there. the flite suits are great. i have heard great things about the mirlin (sp??) suits also. as for freefly suits also, i like the kurupee, they seam to hold up quite well, along with the above mention brands for freefly suits also. some other good freefly suits are jumpbuble (sp??), and fire fly. i can't say a whole lot about the other companies, i have never seen one up close. later

how many jumps do you have under them?? i am wondering how they hold up?? thanks
-
well it sounds like you grew up the same way i did. around a dz your whole life. and since it sound like you dad just might know what he's talking about, we can't really say a whole lot. i'm sure if you father thought you were not ready for the 135, he would not let you have it. just be careful when you get it. and if you do wait to jump it, still find something else to jump other than that conquest. that is a very scarey canopy to be under. if you had seen one fold up at about 100 feet, and then sudenly re-open at about 25 ft, they u would understand why i say this. just my $.02 later
