  1. There are a number of things you can look for to get the wind direction if you lose it. One that I thought was pretty clever that I learned many years ago is the clouds. Assuming there are some, watch the shadow moving and see what direction it is going. that may not be the "best" one for you and I am sure the others have been mentioned already but I like that one. Along with simply maintaining a heading and watch the ground speed, then changing headings and compare. Take the slower one for landing.
  2. Are you gonna jump one? I have two on my fathers, one of the first to come off the production line. I jumped it in his security system, was very interesting. Stood up in the peas. The second jump i did on it I couldnt get the slider down, was stuck about 8 feet up. I did everything I could, the closest I could get it near me was about 3 feet, then it went right back up. I think the grommets should have been larger with those lines. Was going to chop it but didnt want the round landing. Opening was ok (did take it to terminal 2'x's), the canopy is not very rigid, slow response on the toggles, and must start flare much higher. When the slider was stuck up the 99 stiletto doing video with me had no problem hanging with me. Kinda cool. Will see if I can find the pics.
  3. that sounds more like the right time to me..
  4. Disapointed to hear Aerodyne cant retro fit this spacer foam though - requires a new container. Pity It may not be that the Spacer Foam "cant" be added, almost anything can be done. The cost of installing it on a completed system is probably not worth it. That requires a complete tear down of the harness & container. Leg pads, I am sure are not an issue to add. Have a great holiday.
  5. Wrap yourself up in a bag and crawl in the oven for about 8 hours. That would be the biggest Turkey, I would probably spice your self up a bit. Either that or go to El Chico's Have a great dinner my friend.
  6. Huh, he called you a skygod...now we know you never met him doooh!!
  7. . I have heard about some new colors, but thats all i know so far. Wonder why some would be softer than others, excluding batch differences? Hope you are well my friend. Have a great holiday. J
  8. The Spacer Foam that Sun Path offers seems to be softer to the touch than what Aerodyne offers. Does it make a difference when it is on your back??? Who knows? I do know that Spacer Foam on the leg pads is a great option! Spacer Foam can be added to replacement leg pads if you choose. The Odyssey offers Spacer Foam on the leg pads, laterals, shoulders, and back pad for only $125. Who ever you choose to go with, get the Spacer Foam as an option, its worth it. Have a great day.

  11. Take all the different interpretations you could possibly have - pick the trashiest one - & answer the question based on that. :) oOOH my choice! yeaaaaa! The I must plead the 5th to protect myself and the name(s) of others. would that be "left" or "right" you are protecting
  12. want to sell it? well do ya? I jumped my fathers after he passed, supposed to be SN 001, what a canopy. replaced the ripstop tape that came off when I pulled it out of the closet. retaped the lines at the links with duct tape, and put a slider on it...stood it up in the peas. I have a strato star being shipped as we speak.
  13. I should probably change my name to "DZrule73", or threadkiller
  14. totally agree, if i may add a bit. We know that we lose new jumpers from say 25 to 100 jumps when they quit. You just get off AFF, it was hard work, expensive and you are ready to do something different. You might try to belly fly with someone but they may want "more experienced" jumpers on the dive..Then here comes a FF and picks you up. You think great I can jump with someone..Should you? or do you think its ok to find a newbie and ff with him? Ultimately you might end up alone again and then you quit. I think FF has been great for the sport, but waiting another 50-100 jumps before ff might help with accidents and long term jumpers, not to say that if you did stay on your belly longer that you wouldnt quit either. I guess thats why I enjoy so much just grabbing a newbie every chance I get make a jump with them. I cover my slot they cover theirs. Yes I am mostly belly. FF does speed things up thus forcing the newbie to make decisions quicker, and they dont always do it. "Skydiving requires you to be 100%, 100% of the time." 15. Take all the different interpretations you could possibly have - pick the trashiest one - & answer the question based on that. :) is someone feeling "froggy" today?
  16. Well, if we are not jumping we are jumping each other. Next months question in Skydiving Magazine is finish this sentence. If everyone was a skydiver.......my first thought is.......... we would all be related!!!
  17. I must say, if I may, as a kid of skydivers I really appreciated reading Jerry's log books. I read all 13 of them and there was some very interesting stuff. Lots of SD history, camera, equipment, etc.. He would write things that were a little personal, like my brother wrecked the car today, little things i guess. One I really remember is that he was my mothers First jump Instructor, and every time he jumped with her he wrote...Jumped with her, jumped with her..every time, until.... They got married, then it was jumped with Sherry, jumped with Sherry. It taught me to do the same, I dont tell a story with every log, but I do log.. maybe just "4 way". I do put the little things at times but thats about it. Sparky, you (and others in here) have been around a while, I bet ya'll have some great history stored away. I guess I have learned to appreciate those before me a little more, that includes all of you
  18. was out at Kingman a few years when Strong was dropping 6000# under a 220sf main. He called it the Screamer. At 1000 feet the AAD would fire and 2 G12's would set it down gently. He used GPS, gryo's and an onboard remote control system for guidance. I have heard that it is now a success. This thing would do like 120 mph forwards and 87 mph decent rate. His goal was to get 9000# under it.
  19. yeah yeah yeah, lets put a deck on it with a hot tub and some coolers.. Ahh but that means skinny couldnt go up there.....Perfect!!!!! Thanks Lee!!
  20. so Dublin is just missing a couple of countries. I think I will be LOing SCR's and small groups. Oops maybe I should not have said anything, hopefully he wont fire me.
  21. Cant wait to see a FF in a Balloon suite.. History repeats itself again, huh. Now the FF have grippers and no booties, maybe we could make a furtune on our old RW suites
