I believe most use the help responsibly. Just like teenagers, truckdrivers and skydivers-The bad apples stand out, and the ones who behave and follow the rules fade into the background. 0,1,2 First jump of the year. First jump at that DZ. First snow landing. I stood it up, but it was into about a foot of snow and my feet got soaked walking out. And I got to see 3 "out landers" brought back in a limo Yes, I have pics. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Give her a break. She hasn't met him yet. Jeez....well, would one of you please pull her aside, and TELL HER! I've been reading this and had a real hard time deciding who to quote. She's a grown up, she can decide who to steer toward or away from. But I would hope she would read his own siglines. How does he do it? He was the first to respond in the I&G forum. FWIW, I was more of a "bucket lister". I had always thought it would be a cool thing to do. Ironically, my wife said she wanted a divorce a week before my first jump. But I had already decided to do it and she had known I was going to do it and was ok with it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." A little off topic, but... The framers of the Constitution were very afraid of a large standing federal army. Primarily because the main use of those armies was to repress the population, not attack or defend. The less centralized local (not necessarily state organized) militias were thought to be adequate to defend against a foreign invader. The 2-year limit was to prevent any particular leader from amassing too much power. Thomas Jefferson seemed to think that revolt or rebellion was going to be necessary despite the checks and balances built into the Constitution. At least that is how I understand it. And I received free education through high school. I also had a state-subsidized mortgage as a first time home buyer. I have also seen some fairly blatant welfare abuse, by people who were fully capable of working, but preferred to sit at home. When W-2 started in Wisconsin, these people had to get jobs. Training was offered, and taken. And they had to go to work. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." How do I change My vote? I got my first of the year out of a 182 this afternoon. Just a short delay from 5k, but lots of fun. -
Yes, you can wear them. I use a tie strap on them to keep from losing them. They make goggles big enough to go over most glasses. I wear those too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Do I understand this correctly? A check issued to Mr X and Mr Y ended up in the account of Mr Z? Perhaps put there by Mr Y, but you don't know for sure? And deposited electronically? The part that sucks about banks these days is that just about anybody can deposit a check into an account. Normally the check has to be endorsed properly, but not necessarily. Normally the check has to be issued to the account holder, but not necessarily. Normally the account holder has to be the one making the deposit but (guess what?) not necessarily. As long as the money is going into the bank, and you aren't just cashing the check, they don't seem to check that closely. It almost seems like the banks will take the money and its up to you to detect the fraud. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Can someone help me with the Stock Market?
wolfriverjoe replied to goofyjumper's topic in The Bonfire
The fact that you (and your dad) are asking for help tells me you need a broker. Short-term buying and selling is little more than gambling. It can be lots of fun, but you have to sit and watch it constantly to have any hope of turning a profit. And it's a slim hope. Most banks have investment advisors. Low or no cost if you are a customer. They have good advice. Follow it, not what the ding-dongs here say (me included) He will probably direct your dad toward mutual funds. What kind (different sorts of stock funds, bond funds, ect) is dependent on goals, risk tolerance, amount to invest, time frames, ect. I was taught that the best way to invest is set amounts on a regular basis (monthly weekly or per paycheck). Most brokers can set up auto-pay out of your bank account (another reason to go through the bank). Depending on how old your dad is IRAs make a lot of sense as long as you are going to leave the money in until you retire. This is a great time to invest. The old adage "Buy low, sell high" is true, although where and when the bottom of this market is (was) is the million dollar question. But doing it without knowing what you are doing is like jumping without any instruction. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." We had a long discussion on the possibility of attaching the reserve onto the NB6 when I first posted. The lack of D-rings on the NB6 was a hinderance, but I (and others) thought that you could attach the clips from the reserve somewhere on the harness. All you'd have to do is have a big enough carbiner to go around the main lift web and you could easily attach the reserve. Probably not securely enough to use the reserve parachute as a reserve, but well enough to secure the dummy reserve container as a carry bag. None of us thought of Cooper having carbiners in the paper bag or in his pockets. A couple 'biners and a short length of webbing would have easily attached the briefcase, and a couple more would have attached the dummy reserve container and/or the money bag. Of course, Tina never saw anything like this, she just saw Cooper trying to tie the money bag shut, but we still don't know what happened between her going up to the cockpit and Cooper jumping. Ok, listen up bub. This is the bonfire. We will not have this rational thought in here. Mail them a pipe bomb. What could go wrong? I don't think they have internet access in prison. Ryoder is way too cool to lose here. Oops, another rational thought. Sorry 'bout that "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Just a thought, but it might not be him. It might be that the thief knows the schedule of the people who live there and is just using it as a drop without their knowledge. The homeowners might be in Florida or Arizona for the winter for example. I can sympathize with your desires, but make damned sure you have the real thief before you take any action. Jump Prices Lowering With Fuel Prices?

And AVGas is still way up there. I don't know exactly how much thanks to the EAA and the Autogas STC for the 182. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
The Garmin 60CSx handheld has the "jumpmaster" feature too. It's pretty unwieldy, at least for civilain use. Especially since wind aloft forecasts are pretty far apart, only for 3,6,9 and 12 thousand feet (and higher, but that's not important here). The closest one to my DZ is 25 miles away. I think we should teach FJC students the 45 degree rule. They can work out for themselves that it's bullshit. Why stop there? The Earth is center of the universe and is flat; phlogiston, there are only 4 elements, etc. Let the little darlings figure it out for themselves. How about a good dose of critical thinking? And logic. And the scientific method. And teaching the little ones that questioning the status quo is a good thing. So that when someone tries to tell them the moon landings were faked in a Hollywood studio they think about it for a couple minutes and scream "Bullshit!" I have a standard AR, so I have no experience/opinion on the piston upper. I'm fond of Bushmaster personally. They have a shorter barrel that puts the gas port well out on the barrel (not the same spot as the 11.5 barrel) and that helps slow the bolt speed down a good bit. The real close gas port/high bolt speed hurts reliability some. The "Grip-Pod" is really nice. The ability to put a light on is very nice too. The rails are nice to have, some are fairly low profile and can be covered. You don't have to go with the full Quad setup, there are ones that are just upper and lower, or you can put sections on normal handguards. The fancy three point slings are nice, but I just get by with a very long sling rigged the way the Special Forces used to (A friend has a son who's a real Green Beret and he showed me how to rig it). Use good quality parts. I tried to get by cheap the first time and it wasn't worth the hassle. All of this is just my thoughts. Use or don't. Cool! They sometimes give useful info, but mostly are repetitive for those that are paying little or no attention. My favorite is the "Be Alert" message. What you were paying for was (a) his judgment in making sure it was done right the first time, so you didn't incur undue delay by having the court bounce something back, or putting the case into the "slower case track", or something like that, and (b) your peace of mind that the lawyer (i) was making sure it was done right the first time, and (ii) was on-hand just in case some kind of question or issue arose unexpectedly that you might not have been certain how to handle. That being said, only you can decide how much value you got for your money. With an uncontested, uncomplicated divorce - Agreed. +1 Paying a couple hundred to make sure it went smoothly was well worth it IMO. I'm not familiar with court paperwork and I was stressed enough at the time that I wanted to be sure all the "I"s were dotted and the "T"s crossed. TruTV has a show "Smoking Gun presents America's dumbest Criminals" They had a very similar video from Canada. Three guys cuffed together, they take off running, 2 go on one side of the pole, 1 goes around the other. The cop who helped them up off the ground could be heard saying: "you have the right to be stupid". "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." CHEAPERTHANDIRT.COM RIG SALE
wolfriverjoe replied to SKYWHUFFO's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
They sell it because they have it. They sell all sorts of goofy stuff. The real question is why someone would buy it. Some will buy it for the parts, some will buy it because they collect that sort of thing, some will buy it to hang on the wall and impress other whuffos. Some people will buy anything There was a thread on here a while ago asking about returning one of these to service "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Have you completed Billvon's downsizing checklist on your 150 yet? I really like it because it doesn't depend on jump #'s, wingloading or any of the "standard" measurements. It gives you demonstrable skills to achieve. If you can do them, go for it. If not, don't. Checklist "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
