First off, presuming neither one is positioned above or below (supervisory wise). That is pure recipe for disaster, and prohibited at many places for good reason. It can be good or it can be horrific. There were a number of couples that met at a place I used to work. Including the shift supervisor and a team leader. That one actually created a lot of difficulty because the team leader was a bit of a bitch, and having the supervisor as her husband created the appearance (and reality) of favoritism towards her. The others seemed to work out well. In many cases, either one or the other ended up moving on to a different job after a few years and it was no longer a "work relationship." I know one or two moved on to different jobs so that they wouldn't be working together. The big question is "What happens if we break up?" If both of you are mature and reasonable enough to be able to work in the same place after it goes bad, then it can be fine. If she/he turns out to be a "Bunny Boiler"... It can get very, very ugly. The fun part about that is that it's very difficult to spot the Bunny Boilers (and they can be female and male) at the beginning. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." First ever boogie coming up, pretty nervous.

Chuck has some very good advice. Summerfest is a blast. I've gone for the past 5 years and will be there this year. This Thread asked the same question. I typed out a fairly long and detailed answer that I don't feel like doing again. See post #8. See ya there -
Jersey City Mayor Censors Memorial Display to Cop Killer
wolfriverjoe replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Except that "off duty" cops are still cops. They still have a badge and a gun. They still have powers and rights that ordinary citizens don't (until very recently, cops were the only people allowed to carry a concealed weapon in Wisconsin). I don't think that's exactly accurate. My uncle had a CCP. He was a high profile business person. I don't know if my Dad's recommendation helped him get it or not. They're both gone now so I can't find out how that came to fruition. Was he in Wisconsin? There was no Carry Permit available to civilians at all. Ordinary people had no means to legally carry. "Special" people would get "deputized" by the sheriff. But even that sort of thing was rare. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Not a dumb question. An I&R takes a couple hours, depending on how much background research the rigger has to do. How long it will take you to get your rig back is dependent on how busy the rigger is (how many are in front of you in line). Cost varies, $50 is on the lower end. $75 is more typical. You can pay an extra "rush" charge to get jumped to the front of the line if you're in a big hurry. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Don't forget that all those subsidies encourage competition. We went through the unregulated monopoly thing (and it's increased costs) over a hundred years ago. I do not understand your comment. Racism plays no part in my statement. What social problems are associated with "Mexicans" exclusively? Drugs? Gangs? Overcrowded housing? Burritos? Mariachi bands? This from the state that leads the nation in executions

http://chicagoist.com/2012/06/12/illinois_cook_county_leads_nation_i.php Gee... Texas isn't even mentioned! Chuck Good job Illinois doesn't have a death penalty, isn't it? Texas, OTOH, leads the nation in killing its residents. Well, to be truthful about it, Illinois had the death penalty. The governor commuted all the death sentences to "life without" a few years ago. That was because there were more death row inmates exonerated than executed. The Innocence Project showed that Illinois (mainly the greater Chicago metro area) had widespread, systemic problems in the justice system. Corrupt cops, prosecutorial misconduct, forced confessions and suppressed evidence. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-03-10/news/ct-met-illinois-death-penalty-history20110309_1_death-penalty-death-row-death-sentences "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I like that idea! All they have to do is inspect the truck. If the emissions equipment has been modified, they write a ticket. The fines for tampering with emissions equipment are rather severe. I did a quick search, but couldn't find it. IIRC, it can be in the tens of thousands of dollars. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." The annoying realities you eventually have to accept...
wolfriverjoe replied to Nataly's topic in The Bonfire
Like so many other medical procedures of this type, proper rehab after the surgery is key. Learn what PT you are supposed to do, how to do it correctly and do it. Every damned day. I know a few people who have had this. The ones who did the PT properly have healed very well. The ones who didn't... Didn't. And there's lots of motorcycles that put less strain on your wrists. They aren't quite as quick, as fun, or as cool. But you are still riding. Good luck. -
I am not really an open carry advocate.. why go out of your way to antagonize the idiots and scare the poor fuckers who are already afraid of their own shadows.. Sounds like they are asking the Open Carry Agitators to stop. Very similar to what happened with Starbucks. It sounds like Target isn't going to "Post Prohibited", but they want the fools who are (figuratively) shoving their "Right to Bear Arms" in everyone's face. The "sheep" have been convinced that guns are bad, so when they see a gun, they panic. And Target doesn't want panicked customers, they want happy people who spend money. The guys that were mostly responsible for concealed carry becoming law in both Wisconsin and Minnesota have the phrase "don't scare the women or the horses." IOW, don't be blatant about having a gun, which tends to panic the sheep. I'm all in favor of the 2nd amendment and a fairly active and proficient shooter. But the people who open carry simply to make a statement are (figuratively) shooting themselves in the foot by these displays. Especially when they do it on private property, like in a retail establishment. Doing it in public tends to attract the attention of the cops, but doesn't put store owners in the tough spot of deciding to choose which customers (pro- or anti-gun) to lean towards. Public open carry, detained by cops: http://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/rifles-near-appleton-farmers-market-lead-to-police-debate-b9996773z1-223514231.html Local to me, all over the news at the time it happened. Good for you! And, just to pile it on a little more... A basic physical every so often is just solid "preventative maintenance. At 48 you are reaching (or have reached) the age where issues are going to start to show up. Many of these have minimal (if any) symptoms, are very serious, yet are easily dealt with if caught in time. Various cancers, joint issues, and especially heart disease. You could have very advanced Coronary Artery Disease, and the first symptom is a massive, fatal heart attack. I know of at least a dozen of those (friends, family friends, coworkers ect.) Yet a simple blood test will indicate if it's a problem and treatment is often diet and drugs. It's a good opportunity to ask the doc about anything that's bothering you. I had shoulder pain, and when I asked the doc during an exam, he said I had rotator cuff issues, but they weren't serious enough to require surgery. I've been able to address them with basic physical therapy. I've also had my first skin cancer removed. Very small, very early. She just zapped it with liquid nitrogen and froze it off. It won't be my last, but it's good to know how easy it is if you catch it early. I'm required to have a DOT physical every 2 years (truck driver) and I get a 2nd class FAA exam every year. Well, overfishing really isn't the problem with the salmon. It's the "destruction of the paths to the breeding grounds" that is the problem. The adult salmon can't get back upstream to spawn, and the fry (baby salmon) can't get back downstream to the ocean to grow up. There's a lot more involved, like the bear that eat the salmon in the streams and how the dead bodies of the adults become fertilizer in the upland lakes and streams. You know, that whole "Circle of Life" thing. I saw the program some time ago. It's really depressing how much we (all of us) have destroyed the planet and how many ecosystems have been damaged or destroyed. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Accuracy Logging Question for C License

As long as you and the person signing for the jump agree, it really doesn't matter what the target is. I've seen an S&TA toss an empty beer case on the ground and say "There's your target. Hit it." There wasn't enough wind to move it any before I landed near it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Not really. The motor, transaxle, wheels, axles and suspension are all under the waterline. That's a large percentage of the weight. It's got a huge "sail area" on the sides, and I wouldn't want to see what happens if the wind decides to blow (or gust) though. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Vendor shoots woman at Pennsylvania gun show
wolfriverjoe replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
In theory, racking the slide should clear any loaded cartridges from the chamber. But if there's a loaded magazine in it, then working the slide would put one in. In any case, simply racking the slide (no matter how many times) is not an adequate substitute for a visual check. And the rules "Treat Every Gun As If It's Loaded" & "Always Keep The Gun Pointed In A Safe Direction" are there for a reason. It's not clear from the article why the trigger was pulled. That shouldn't have happened. And the gun should have been pointed in a safe direction when the trigger was pulled. The article seems to indicate that he was demonstrating a holster. They make non-functional training guns (known as "Blue Guns") for that sort of thing. Fake guns that are clearly not real, but are shaped accurately enough for holster work and retention practice. This guy's desk is spotless. He's an intense guy, who works hard, and simply isn't aware of how hard he's getting on his mouse. A mouse pad would go a long way in eliminated the banging sound. I have one for him, just have to wait for the right situation to give it to him. Give it to him. Don't be passive/aggressive about it. "Own your own shit" as they like to say. The problem isn't his making the noise, it's how you react to it. The problem isn't his, it's yours. Present it in that way, and you won't be putting him "on the spot." Telling him that you are deaf in one ear and that it makes it difficult to deal with that sort of background noise makes it clear that you aren't blaming him for the problem. You are simply asking his assistance in dealing with your problem. Unless he's a total asshole (which is a possibility - you know him, I don't) being asked to help you with your problem will be much easier for him than being told that he is causing the problem. Welcome to the US healthcare system. First off, no real diagnostic procedure is going to cost $100. That $1000 for X-rays is pretty typical. Second, none of the people treating you have any idea of what the stuff they are doing costs. That's the job of the billing department. The nurses, X-ray techs and such are very good at their jobs, but they have no idea of, nor control over what you are going to get charged for it. That $100 you paid is what we call a "Co-pay." It's a token payment to the provider at the time of the treatment. Normally, the provider then sends a bill to you and the insurance company. The insurance company then sends the patient a statement detailing how much it cost, how much they are going to pay and how much the patient owes. Sometimes there's a deductible (patient has to pay a certain amount before insurance pays) or sometimes certain stuff is only partly covered. Since you didn't have insurance, they sent the whole bill to you. Ok, I missed that you said you had insurance. Russian insurance or "Travel Insurance"? I'm guessing that the insurance either denied coverage or it got lost in the system. I've had that happen - The insurance company misplaced the paperwork and I started to get threatening letters from the provider. You might check with your insurance company and see what they say.2nd edit - You said you were paying cash. They did the procedure and sent you the bill for the whole thing. Technically, yes, you owe the extra money. You could send them a note saying that they never gave you the X-rays or a full report from the radiologist and won't pay until they do. Or you could simply not pay it. They'll send you threatening letters and such things (threatening legal action and damage to your credit rating) but that's about it. Edit to add part about insurance coverage. Edit again because I apparently can't read today. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Now, this is the kind of answer I'm looking for here. What consequences can I expect when I take my upcoming action? Absolutely spot on here. If he did that, I would definitely wear them in such a manner that we both knew the situation. And that would be politically acceptable. +1 Well, if he knows it's annoying you and is continuing to do it to annoy you, then there is a rather drastic step you could take: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4646453;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Just out of curiosity, have any BASE jumpers ever been charged this severely? I know some get trespass tickets, others have gotten vandalism (criminal damage to property) for the damage caused when they broke in, usually door locks. But this is the first time I've ever heard of felony burglary charges. I fully understand the "Make the NYPD look like fools and you're going to pay" mentality. I'm just wondering if there's any precedent. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Well, this story had nothing to do with a judge or the legal system. It was a shop owner posting a picture of a guy shoplifiting on camera. The store owner took screenshots of the dude (face clearly visible) and posted them in the front window of his store. Mike Rowe (Of Dirty Jobs and other things) liked it, but a others in line with him didn't, including a lawyer. I guess I always thought the truth was a valid defense in defamation of character suits. As in, if you didn't tell a lie, they wouldn't win a lawsuit. Not couldn't sue, but wouldn't win. And the comments by the lawyer about suing celebrities implies that the lawyer was more confident about getting a settlement than actually winning. Personally, as long as the pics are accurate, and the person is identified clearly enough to prevent someone else (who's innocent) being wrongly identified as a thief, I like the idea. Back when paper checks were common, some local businesses had a "Wall Of Shame" with all the NSF checks posted. You could go in and see who the deadbeats were. All they had to do to get removed was pay the debt. Some did, some didn't. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
