Well, back in the 80s, I would have been happy if they had banned spandex for people over a certain weight. And in the 90s, it would have been nice if "butt crack" jeans were only allowed on people who had "nice" butts. Yoga pants are the same. Heaven on the right body, hell on the wrong one. But (since this is SC), this is America, where we have the right to completely, totally and utterly deceive ourselves that "we look good in that." Besides, how would "People of WalMart" survive without them? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I have a question . . . 1) This is a shotgun pistol . . . where does this fall in your "pretty simple" Turtle, are the barrels "rifled" in anyway? If so it isn't a shotgun... No. It was a smoothbore pistol, I was wrong about that. It seems to be that if it was originally made as a pistol, it is classed as an "AOW", as was posted above. If it was originally made with a shoulder stock, then it would be a "short barreled shotgun." The argument about AR pistols and how the lower was originally sold illustrates this well. Max's shotgun was originally a full length side-by-side, so it would be classed as a SBS, not AOW. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Didn't the governor of Alabama do something similar about 50 years ago? Refuse a federal order? And hopefully this idiot is just as successful in the long run. What is the largest caliber weapon you have fired?
wolfriverjoe replied to riggerrob's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, technically, the question was "largest caliber weapon." Is a 50 cal pistol "larger" than a 338 Lapua Mag? If the question had been "biggest gun", I really couldn't have answered. I've never shot artillery. Just rifles, pistols & shotguns (plus a couple SMGs a long time ago). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Any info on here (or any internet forum for that matter) should be taken with the proverbial "grain of salt." There's a pretty good sticky in the Safety & Training forum about that. What you call "amended information" is considered by many on here "finding an exception that is then used to say 'your answer was wrong.'" There are a lot of different types of personalities on here (and on all the forums I'm part of). Some are very helpful, some are snarky and useless, most are somewhere in between. The 'helpful' ones like at least a little appreciation of their efforts if you wish them to continue helping you. A little humility about what someone does and doesn't know goes a long way. Threads can be removed by the moderators, but it usually takes a good reason. If you want your account closed, you need to violate the rules flagrantly enough to get permanently banned. There have been some of those that are pretty legendary. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

The lesson is that if you ask a million questions here, people will get bored or annoyed by you. Not every student's questions get answered completely; sometimes a student has to go back to the dropzone and deal with their own instructors. ...Even if your questions are technically valid, and you were correct in observing that toggle colours are not always the typical ones some of us expected. The other lesson is that if you ask questions, get reasonably valid answers, run and find exceptions to those, then come back and argue about it; people will get annoyed. The only people who know for certain what the gear is, what kind of toggles are in it and exactly what happened are the people who were actually there for the jump. Everything you get here is an assumption or a reasonable guess, based on what is considered "normal" or "standard." Knowledge is a good thing. But don't confuse information with knowledge. You need understanding in between the two. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

How much climate change would be happening . . .

No. Lots and lots of our "caveman ancestors" died. Complete species went extinct. But back then there weren't 6 billion cavemen around to fight over limited resources and land space. If we see enough temp rise, it's possible India and Africa will become uninhabitable. Do you think those billions of people are just going to sit there and die? Or maybe try to move to more habitable lands? That are currently occupied by people who probably wouldn't be terribly welcoming. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I already have a Porsche (2 actually), not too interested in going to Bali. But there are porn stars I'd choose over her. And I have to agree with Johnny. Rifle, 338 Lapua Mag. A muzzle brake made it powerful, but fun. Also, a Ruger #1 in 45-70 handloaded way up, within about 50 fps of a 458 Win Mag. That rattled my teeth pretty good. Pistol: 500 S&W, Desert Eagle 50AE, 480 Ruger. None of the pistols were a lot of fun to shoot. Impressive & powerful, but somewhat painful. The owner of the 500 Smith had a pair of gel palm gloves, with a piece of mouse pad cut to fit the palm area for extra padding. You had to make sure the pistol was centered in the web between the thumb and index finger or it would bruise. One of the really fun "extra benefits" of volunteering as a Range Officer is when a shooter asks "Do you want to try this?" -

I don't seem to recall Jesus napalming or WPing anyone. He actually preached radical stuff like "love thy enemy" and "turn the other cheek." However, many who claim to follow him seem to ignore those concepts and advocate for the aforementioned techniques. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Please do your homework there is lots of wrong with all of that. What in particular? It's called "Constructive Possession." I wont' get into an argument whether or not it's right, or constitutional, or yet another case of the BATF overstepping their authority. But getting caught with M-16 parts and an AR, or a short barrelled upper with no registered lower or pistol lower is going to result in some pretty expensive legal problems. Nothing. Same as in the "Assault Weapons Ban" era when you could easily buy uppers with the banned features and stick it on a "post-ban" lower. Just don't get caught at it. And it's illegal to possess a pistol or short-barrelled upper without possessing a pistol or registered SBR lower. Same with full auto parts (bolt carrier, sear, hammer, safety, auto-safety sear, ect.) The Miller decision should have gotten NFA tossed. The lower courts ruled that way, but Miller never showed up when the state appealed it to the Supremes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Miller "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Same as shotguns. It takes a fairly powerful firearm and makes it concealable. Keep in mind that the 38 Super was considered a very powerful pistol at the time. NFA 1934 was a result of the "gangster era" of Prohibition and the early depression era. (think Al Capone, Dillinger and Bonnie & Clyde). Clyde Barrow had a BAR (yes, he stole it from a National Guard armory) that he cut down and could hide under a long coat. He also had a shotgun (Rem 1100 IIRC) that he cut way down and would wear under a coat. He had it on a short sling around his shoulder and could swing it up to his shoulder and fire very fast. And he'd shoot it from the shoulder so that he'd hit what he was aiming for. The St Valentine's Day massacre in Chicago was one of the triggers for the NFA (kinda like Sandy Hook or similar). The good old "Let's ban them and keep them out of the hands of the criminals" mindset. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Oligarchs unload Sochi Olympics assets to recoup investment
wolfriverjoe replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
#1 - Every country seems to think that hosting the Olympics will bring huge economic returns for the huge investment. Most of them find that once the Olympics are over, the investment becomes a huge liability. #2 - Putin has sold his soul to the "Oligarchs" (or are they "Kleptogarchs"?) to have his appearance of power. If he doesn't keep them happy, he's done. If he does keep them happy, the people get screwed. But he does a pretty good job of keeping a lid on it, so he's reasonably safe there. I kinda doubt that any Russian news agency will be covering this. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Are you sure? I can buy a Tavor for $1800 without doing the NFA Title II tax stamp thing and they are definitely less than 26". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMI_Tavor_TAR-21 Everything I know of says minimum overall length of 26". The Wiki link mentions an 18" barrel to make the minimum OAL. Wiki site on Short Barreleld Rifle says 26 minimum OAL. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
