Meh. No biggie. You're new. Some of the stuff that is "obvious" to those of us that spend waaaaay too much time on here isn't always really apparent at first. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Bolding mine. We have been this way for longer than BHO has been in office. Bush and the Iraq war did more damage to our relationship with the rest of the world than anything BHO has done. And while I certainly see a lot of "dividedness" (if that's a word), I have yet to see any real violence, nor any "indicators" or "precursors" to it. We are a long, long way from "civil war," despite what the extreme right wing websites want you to believe. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." We aren't allowed to start threads in the scam forum. That's reserved for the admin/mods. There's a "seller scam" link in the classifieds page, right below the search. It takes you to HERE and details how to report it. Yours sounds like a very typical "I'll send you extra money to send to my shipper via Western Union" scam. If that is what the people in that community want, who are you to decide for them? Or are you so self important that you think you are the end all of society? I seem to recall that the "will of the people" was ignored in the south in the sixties. The federal government even sent soldiers in to enforce their "overruling of the will of the people." Wrong is wrong, despite how popular it is. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Umm... No. The baker can decide what kind of content he (or she) chooses to make. No swastika cakes? Fine, as long as it's "No" for everyone. One could argue that refusing to make swastika cakes would require refusing to make 'Elephant' cakes (red velvet would be the choice for that one) and 'Donkey Cakes (blueberry). The baker cannot decide he (or she) is going to serve certain groups but not others. They can do the same thing with the writing on the cake. They can refuse to write "God Hates Fags" as long as they refuse to write "Death to the Infidels" too. If they are going to write "Best wishes on your life together" for 'Adam & Eve', then they have to do it for 'Adam & Steve' too. As long as the same rules apply to everyone, the baker can choose what he (or she) wants to make. Or are you being deliberately obtuse. Got any sort of ruling that shows that line of reasoning? Basically you seem to be saying "Because a bakery will write 'Happy Anniversary, I love you" that they should then be required to write 'Happy Birthday Adolf, we are going to finish killing all the Jews for you soon.'" I think this has come up before. How is it going to protect a femur? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
"No custom shaped cakes." - No problem "Custom shaped cakes but no rainbow and/or swastika cakes" - Problem? No, if someone doesn't want to make swastika shaped cakes, it's not a problem. Nor is it a problem if they don't want to put rainbows on the cakes. As long as the policy is applied to everyone. The problem comes up when they will make rainbow cakes for one group (say, 8 year old girls) but not for others (say, gay weddings). So if they want to make swastika cakes for Buddhists, Hindus or Jainists, then they probably would have to make them for the skinheads too. Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... Don't forget those horrific torture devices, the "soft pillow" and the "comfy chair." Bringing back an older thread. Oregon judge rules that you can't use religious beliefs as an excuse for discrimination. From the article: Italics mine. Giuliani did this for the same reason people like, for example, Rush Limbaugh or Michael Moore do it: deliberately, for they know that it will put them semi-virally in the news for about 24 hours, in a sub-world in which publicity is the stock in trade, and any publicity is good publicity. He's trying to re-establish his bona fides of relevancy, probably because he wants to make some money. Maybe he wants to re-enter politics, or maybe he's about to write a book, or maybe he wants to make himself attractive for a TV pundit gig, or maybe he needs to increase his fee-value on the speaker's circuit. Or maybe, like any self-respecting bunny-boiler, he's tired of being ignored. I think he did it more because he knows the audience he is speaking to. There's a lot of people out there that seem to actually believe that Obama "wants to destroy America." That's he's really a Muslim, that he isn't an American citizen, all that crap. We even had someone post on here a week or so ago that he felt Obama was an "ISIL Sympathizer." I have a FB friend that shares just about every negative article on Obama that he can find. Brietbart, WMD, Blaze, Western Journalism, all those kind of "Extreme Right Wing" fearmongers. Of course, any negative story about Scott Walker (gov here in WI) is a 'liberal hit piece that is nothing but lies and fabrication.' I don't like Obama. I didn't vote for him, and wouldn't if he could run again. But the level of hatred towards him is disturbing. I have my theories that much of it is racial. Mostly because the hatred seems to be coming from "old, white guys." Who grew up in a time when racism was perfectly acceptable. They won't openly admit it, and for some of them, it may not be the reason. But it sure seems to be. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." One thing that is convincing me is the spread of the pine beetle. It is kept in check by severe cold. Temps that go well below zero for a day or two will kill off many of them. If it doesn't get that cold, the beetles don't get killed. They spread, and kill off a lot of trees. Which is what seems to be happening. There are almost certainly other factors at play, but the lack of sever cold spells to kill it off seems to be one of the bigger ones. Is Oklahoma destined to be the new Mississippi?
wolfriverjoe replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Did you investigate a bit more? What did you find? I don't know what Marc may or may not find, but I found something that is really subversive. They want to teach them to think for themselves!!! It starts on page 11. They want these kids to look at the context in which the history was written, who wrote it and what the writer's biases and objectives might be, and to actually look at different accounts of events to try and determine what the truth might be. They want these poor, innocent, vulnerable kids to actually learn to question what those in power have said!!! Well, obviously, those in power in Oklahoma can't have that happen. Yeah, it's hard to tell if the daughter is "ok" and survived some horrible parents, or if she's just as bad as them, or if they are reasonably ok and she's the problem. I've seen all three. Is Oklahoma destined to be the new Mississippi?
wolfriverjoe replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
No, they are saying that it paints the US in a bad light. It doesn't adequately (note that I don't say "accurately) showcase the "exceptionalism" of the US. You know, slavery, genocide of the indians, corporate abuses, that sort of thing. I'm not sure that would be a "conservative" thing. More of an "idiot" thing. Although the vote was a straight party line vote. And the conservatives were the ones voting for it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It kinda depends on the circumstances. My experience with traffic violations/arrests/bail is that if the charge is serious enough to arrest someone, the bail is set at what the fine will be. As in, driving after rev, fine is $500. Bail is $500. You get out, show up to court, get convicted, your bail is now your fine forfeiture. Plus any jail time. Note: Don't bail out friends for traffic violations. You don't get your money back when they show up for court. The court keeps it for their fine. As Andy noted, bail is simply to ensure you'll show up. In the case of traffic violations, it's to make sure your fine will be paid, although failing to appear is going to generate additional charges. I can't see a simple driving on expired license generating a $2900 fine, so I'm going to guess that there's more to it than that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." More government nanny stateness...........
wolfriverjoe replied to skycop's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't see them passing an ordinance. It's more the mayor asking people to "not be an idiot." That "big, fluffy snowdrift" might not be. It could be frozen fairly solid (once it's plowed or shoveled, it gets hard enough to hurt). There could be a metal fence, fire hydrant, entire car that you can't see. The way stupid shit spreads on the internet, too many people are going to see this, think it's a good idea, not think it all the way through, and get hurt. How many dumbasses got seriously hurt doing that "Ice Bucket Challenge" last summer? So the mayor says: "Don't be a dumbass." Of course, the real dumbasses are going to ignore him... And get hurt. And then tie up EMS. And probably end up filing a lawsuit against the city for putting that hydrant, sign, fencepost or whatever under the "big, fluffy snowbank." You know, I can really, really sympathize with Andy's point. She may well have been "morally justified" in slugging him. He sounds like a real piece of crap. But legally, if she wasn't in danger, then she committed "assault" and probably "assault and battery." Both (or either, depending) are crimes. And for him to not hit back and to call the cops was probably the smartest thing he possibly could have done. Because when the cops show up, and the woman says "he hit me", the guy most often goes to jail. The woman may go too, but the guy almost always goes if the woman shows indications of being hit. More Religion-Inspired Hate and Violence

ISIL is pretty organized. Not sure why you wouldn think it isn't. I don't disagree that ISIL is pretty well organized. Please show me any definite connection between this thug and ISIL. Not the FB post where he swore allegiance to them, but any training or support that he received. He was a gang member and small time drug dealer. He spent time in both jail and prison, and "found" radical Islam in prison. A thug. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, instead of "quit your job and relocate," how about "reduce the use of those solvents, find safer alternatives and use protective gear when you have to use them." Which is what really happened with workplace chemicals. Sort of like 'find alternative energy sources that aren't as polluting (overall, not just CO2) and reduce the use of energy through higher efficiency and conservation." Which is what the reasonable AGW proponents are advocating. Not that there aren't extreme weirdos on both sides. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
