Trump proposes mandatory registration for US Muslims
wolfriverjoe replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
It isn't "catching", it's always been there. It's just that Trump is being open about it and is appealing to the large numbers of people that believe that way. Interestingly, Trump's largest support comes from less educated (high school or less), less affluent (less than $50k/yr), older people (something like 85% are over 45). Rick Perry described Trump's platform as: Source:http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2015/09/09/who_are_trumps_supporters.html "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Trump proposes mandatory registration for US Muslims
wolfriverjoe replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
It seems to be an odd alliance between the right wing bigoted xenophobes and the left wing anti-gun idiots. If you type "terrorist wa" it finishes it with "tch list allowed to buy guns". And the result is THIS Apparently, a wide variety of people are perfectly ok with stripping "those people" of their constitutional rights by government decree. What is required to jump a tandem rig solo.
wolfriverjoe replied to Amyr's topic in Tandem Skydiving
I'm intrigued now. Is that an actual thing, and if so, what does it do? Actual thing I was curious myself, and searched "Tandem Crystal Ball" to find this. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
Interesting. I do like how everything is clearly defined. However, you say a reserve packer can "pack (but not inspect) reserves." How is that done? Here in the US, an inspection is an essential part of a reserve pack. Not trying to be snarky or argumentative, just curious how it's done. There actually are a lot of good cops. But they maintain that "thin blue line", that code of silence. They have to if they want to survive. THIS is a transcript from NPR's "This American Life." It discusses "old boy" networks and their power. The important part is the prologue. It's an FBI guy who investigated corruption in Chicago in the 70s. Rather telling. Admitting privileges law struck down
wolfriverjoe replied to headoverheels's topic in Speakers Corner
Unless they want to make doctors get admitting privileges for any procedure that's as invasive or at risk for complications as an abortion (and they have zero willingness to do that), then it's a clear attempt at restricting abortion. And nothing else. Giving doctors 3 days to get those privileges (which normally takes a few months if they don't already have them), is also suspect. The full opinion is pretty interesting. Don't forget about the rest of them. Who was arguing in court that the video shouldn't be released? Who has been defending the cops? If it was anyone but the cops and the prosecutors and the mayor's office, those at the scene would be charged with "accessory to murder" and those involved in the cover-up would be charged with "obstruction of justice" or "accessory after the fact." That's funny. I have no trouble finding a very clear definition. My understanding was that "Wahabi" are those that follow the teachings of al-Wahhab. And a good explanation of it (over and above the Wiki link) is HERE "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." So clearing out a browser history is "obstruction of justice", but erasing incriminating video isn't? Hmmm... And Jakee is right. Where are all those who defend this sort of shit as "one Bad Apple" (Skycop, Promise5, the sockpuppet twins, ect)? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, it looked like the "no rig" fella had a harness of some sort under his pants, like Pastrana's jump a few years back. I too, hope that it was a junk rig they tossed. I wonder if the pilot knew what was up. Was the "tossed rig" worn to make the pilot think it was just a normal balloon jump? Then they pulled off the stunt without telling him? So call PD and ask nicely where they get their rolls from. If you need that much, I'd think you could get it from the manufacturer. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

in deep far villages of certain countries with muslim majority where twisted culture prevails over religion, and education is unavailable some women might be forced to wear a scarf. I'm curious how many of the "Good Cops" saw this video. How many of them spoke up about his crime? Why didn't the leadership of Chicago (the whole town, not just the cops) speak out about this homicide? They certainly are quick to "call for action" about other ones. Oh, yeah. Because it was a cop doing the shooting. So it was because "he was attacked" and was "in fear for his life" and because "he just wanted to go home at the end of his shift" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." The training I provided was to use one syllable, either 'freeze!' or 'halt!' as you prefer. If they turn and run away while their hands in plain sight, let them go. If they turn away and you lose sight of either hand such that they could be reaching for something, shoot to stop. You can not afford to find out if they were reaching for a cell phone, a pocket bible, a Lorcin 9mm - or they just had an itch they wanted to scratch - if they then turn around. The whole Michael Brown thing is nonsense. The fact that he was not armed is immaterial - if Dick Butkus (or his modern equivalent) was coming at me with malice and aforethought, while ignoring the threat of lethal force in the process, I would be impressed if he could be dropped before ripping me apart. I have one advantage that the cop in Ferguson did not - I can ethically run away as rapidly as possible. I could then call 911, and the cop who responded would not have that option. Of all the cops I know, not one does not dread having to resort to lethal force, and those who have had to do so have nightmares about it. When unsuccessfully attacking an armed individual, the cause of death is effectively suicide. Give it a rest. BSBD, Winsor The above is very true. FWIW, I believe the MB shoot in Ferguson was pretty clearly justified. It was the behavior of the cops after that was abhorrent. Both in the immediate aftermath of the shooting and in the releasing information that turned out to be blatant lies. And I think the video from Chicago would show pretty clearly what happened. If the cop's story is true and accurate, then the video would exonerate him. If not... It would explain why they don't want the video to see the light of day. It is possible that the video won't show anything conclusive in either way, but the failure to release any video makes it look like the cops are trying to hide something. There's a similar situation up in Minnesota. Unarmed black male shot by police. Cops claim he had grabbed an officer's gun. Video from an ambulance and possible surveillance video from buildings in the area will not be released. FBI & local cops aren't going to. Governor says "It doesn't show anything conclusive" and everyone is supposed to trust him. Yeah, right. http://www.fox9.com/news/53500509-story "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Honest and serious question: Do you believe that a person has to actually follow the teachings of Christ to be a true Christian? Or at least to try to the best of their ability? Or can a person simply "accept Jesus" as their personal savior, and then continue to treat others badly, hurt or even kill other people, and still be allowed entry into the "kingdom of God"? I'm not talking about actions before finding Christ, I'm talking about after. Or, to put it another way: Are there any expectations on the part of Jesus in a "personal relationship" with him? Progress and setbacks in the War on Terror
wolfriverjoe replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
No, sorry, he didn't. This is one occasion where the mass media is deliberately misinterpreting him in search of a 'gotcha' headline. The reporter asked Trump about a Muslim database and he replied with a non-commital "There should be a lot of systems..." but then moved onto say "But right now we have to have a border, we have to have strength, we have to have a wall" So when the reporter asks him if he'd do it and he says "Oh I would certainly implement that. Absolutely... It would stop people coming in illegally" then he is clearly and obviously talking about border control, not a muslim database. NBC should be ashamed of themselves, NYT should be ashamed of themselves. Gutter journalism I don't know. The video from the NBC site (there's a link to it in the story I linked) has him clearly stating "at mosques and other places." I understand what you mean about him talking about immigrants, and he may only mean he wants to register muslim immigrants and not citizens. But it doesn't come across that way. Progress and setbacks in the War on Terror

Well, Trump "trumped" himself. He would Require Muslims To register In A Database He doesn't say how soon he'd require them to attach identifying patches to their clothes (a crescent moon would be nice), or maybe restrict them to certain neighborhoods, or maybe round them up and put them in "resettlement camps." Close it completely? No traffic what ever in and out of Mexico? Any clue how much trade goes across that border? Edit to add: And it seems that NONE of the people indicted in US courts for involvement in Daesh were Syrians. 80% were US citizens. Go figure. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/20/isis-suspects-us-citizens-syria?CMP=fb_gu "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, if Daesh only targeted bigoted, xenophobic, gullible fools who claim to be Christians, then I might not care. But I actually care about the people that they really target. The poor civilians that are caught in the midst of their horrific violence. Whether they are Muslim, Jew, Christian or any other belief. That's why I'd like to see the US take in some refugees. You know, those poor, tired, huddled masses. The ones yearning to be free from the oppression of a religious terror group. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I guess I find it difficult to correlate 10,000 refugees and the term "mass entry." The "will of the people" is fear and xenophobia. That is wrong. If the "will of the people" was Sharia law, would you support it? Somehow I kind of doubt it. You only support the "will of the people" when you agree with it. The idea of a constitutional republic is that the "will of the people" shouldn't be used by the majority to oppress the minority. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." You do realize that Daesh has a fairly large bankroll/budget, right? They've been selling oil, taxing the residents of the areas they control, looting historical sites and selling artifacts (that's a big moneymaker). Buying decent fake IDs (not the ones that were popping up as spam on here) and getting to Europe or North America on tourist visas would be a very easy process for them. Getting out of the Middle East through, say, Saudi Arabia would be the easiest, although there are other ways. Unless of course we do close our borders. Completely. Not just to "brown people", because Daesh has more than a few European members. Somehow I don't think that's going to work. But go ahead, panic and run around like the proverbial "Chicken with your head cut off." Live in fear of "those people" coming to get you. That is, of course, exactly what the terrorists want you to do. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." my brother is a chef can i cook in his kitchen
wolfriverjoe replied to jumpwally's topic in The Bonfire
Smart ass response: Are you sure you want to try that? There are sharp knives there. You could cut your finger off!!! And there's FIRE!!! You could burn yourself. That stuff is dangerous! You should try something safe... Like jumping out of a plane. Serious response: That question about jumping out of the brother's plane is a pretty common one. So is the "Can I jump into my (birthday party, wedding, family reunion, company picnic, ect)?" It comes with the "New Jumper Enthusiasm." I don't mind answering "It's a lot more complicated than you think, here are a few of the issues you will have to deal with, here are a few terms to search out." The Taliban was in continuous armed struggle against local militias right up until the 2001 US led invasion. The Northern Alliance, led by Masood, was a lot more than a "local militia." It was claimed by the NRA back in the mid 90s. It never made the mainstream news. For some reason, the idea that the head of the CDC, doing gun research, was also sitting on the BOD of the largest anti-gun organization in the US wasn't a story. I can't find any links that go back that far. I've looked, but my search skills are lacking. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
