  1. Murkowski isn't a typical "Red State" senator. She and the party aren't exactly 'bosom buddies'. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/7/27/16030520/murkowski-republican-health-bill "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 2. For a guy who was in the Honor Society I find it odd that you seem to not understand how things work in this country. You know, that old thing about: Innocent until proven guilty. Or would you like to change that? Jerry Baumchen Well, for the people he doesn't like, sure. Clinton, Obama, ect. They should be convicted simply on accusations and innuendo. For the people he does like, they shouldn't even have to answer the charges against them. They couldn't possibly have done those things. And the people leveling those false accusations should be punished too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 3. Pffft. Sounds like the orange cheeto is feeling the heat from the Russia investigation. So he puts out something outrageous and ridiculous to draw attention, hoping the Russia stuff will be forgotten. Not the first time he's done this. Distraction and misdirection are standard "Con Man" techniques. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. I can understand that. I voted for Gary Johnson (Libertarian) because I couldn't stomach the thought of voting for either Clinton or Trump. But I don't see you distancing yourself from Trump at all. You support him. You call him a 'successful businessman' You seem to admire him. You clearly ignore all the allegations against him, regardless of the evidence. Anything you don't like, you call "fake". How you can reconcile that with your so-called "Christian Values" is a mystery to me. But, then again, how you reconcile much of what you say you do with those values is also a mystery. So it's not all that big of a surprise. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  5. No. How do you not get how this works? You make a statement of fact therefore it's up to you to back it up with evidence or be proven a liar. No, that's how rational discourse and debate works. Some people either can't or won't engage in that. They are either incapable or unwilling to accept things that they don't want to believe. They would much rather post garbage and take over the thread with their stupid distractions. Anyone who actually tries to engage them ends up in a 'discussion' that closely resembles THIS "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 6. No, no, no. That was Obama, the 'evil socialist' who wanted to 'destroy our way of life.' Of course, he was so bad at it that even though he had 8 years to fulfill his evil plan, he failed miserably. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 7. Because she's not the president you fucking moron. Well, there's also the simple fact that the Rs looked into her, and her e-mails, and Benghazi and a bazillion other things throughout their investigations and hearing and found... Nothing. 8. Well, as this tool has demonstrated, they can't be totally, permanently "locked out." As far as I understand (and I'm likely wrong on some of this), they will block users, and then sock puppets if they are reasonably certain that the sock puppet is a banned user. If it persists, they will block the ISP address (or a section of it, not totally sure on the terminology). They don't like to do this, because it blocks a bunch of people, some of whom might want to be legitimately on here. IIRC, Rhys was persistent enough, and annoying enough that they did this to him, which resulted in a few others at his DZ being blocked. When those others complained, it was explained that if they could get Rhys to stop making sock puppets, then the block would be lifted. And any sort of VPN or ISP address 'camouflager" renders that ineffective. As a side note, I'm on a couple forums run by "Internet Brands". They have a lot of different ones. Part of their TOS is that making a sock puppet to get around a ban results in a $5000 fine. Not sure if they put it on the CC used to pay for membership (if one was bought), or if they just send a bill, knowing it won't get paid, but also knowing it will show up on a credit report. And that behavior is pretty much a signature of a certain "web site vandal." I've suspected he was on here. There have been a few users who had a 'suspiciously similar' posting/writing style, but I couldn't be sure enough to call him out. I've done it in the past, and he sends nasty PMs. BFD. He keeps showing up, complaining that the mods are "out of control" and "out to get him", so he pulls crap like this. He seems to think he has a right to be here, and when told "no", goes on these rants. I wonder if the organizations he's part of at home (he holds officer positions in a couple groups) know how juvenile, petty and vindictive he gets when he can't have his way. 9. They are not men. They are invertebrates. That's a pretty mean and unfair comparison. To the invertebrates. And, not terribly surprising, Trump doesn't know the rules about impeachment. It has to be a crime against the US, and it cannot be for an impeachable offense. So for any offense that he might be impeached over, he cannot pardon himself. 10. Well, here is my $0.02. Worth that much... Maybe. How did you get the PLF so deeply ingrained in your brain? Repetitive practice, right? Jumping off of platforms, some of them pretty high, doing PLFs to break the fall. I'm guessing that the higher platforms required a PLF to prevent injury. So 'retrain the brain.' Find a fairly low platform, maybe 2 or 3 feet. Get a running start, jump off the platform and stay running when you hit the ground. Just for grins, say "I'm going to run this one out", then do that. On another run say "I'm going to PLF this one" and do that. Do that enough times that you don't automatically go for the PLF. Although, as noted, having a really good PLF in your 'toolbox' can save your ass on occasion. Then try a jump. See what happens. As always, not an instructor, didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, no warranties express or implied, use at own risk, contains flammable gas under pressure. 11. There's a couple more up now. From the replies in the Intro & Greets, I would guess that a certain perma-banned serial sock-puppet troll is finally seeing an ISP-wide ban. 12. Try reading "Stupid Things I Have Done" (and then don't do those things). "Scary Stories From the Old Days" is very entertaining. Do NOT, under any circumstances, open up the "DB Cooper" thread. Here there be monsters. A good canopy course is a smart thing to do, even well before you think about downsizing. Accuracy is always a good thing, but keep in mind that an accurate landing requires a consistent pattern. All phases of canopy flight are important. I don't know about Belgium, but here in the US, traffic conflicts under canopy can be a real safety issue. Getting proficient on your belly before exploring the other axes of flight is strongly recommended. After all, every freefall ends with pulling from the belly position. 13. A hard landing is a fairly common thing, even for experienced jumpers. More so for students. Flaring on time is important, either late or early can result in a hard landing that will require a PLF. the PLF is something every jumper should be able to do well, it's saved me from injury more than a few times. Video of PLF training: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQwX8NtEn7w Sometimes fairly heavy people come on here wanting to jump. A standard question is if they can jump off of a table (approx 1 meter) without injury. If not, then they shouldn't jump. And neither should you. 14. As such he provides a fascinating view into the mind of a Trump supporter. It's often not easy to imagine how someone can maintain a view so diametrically opposed to reality - but watching Marc do so gives some clues into how people can believe such things. Not really. There's no "how" or "why" to it at all. There's nothing fascinating, at least not to me, when someone is so entrenched in their hatred that they believe anything an opponent to the target of that hatred says and support anything they do. 15. Oh, please. Ron doesn't even need a tenuous logical connection. Anyone who quotes WMD as a source, yet discounts the Wiki and Snopes completely due to their 'strong liberal bias' has clearly demonstrated that what they want to be true is far, far more important than any actual facts. 16. Pfft. Those are just little people. They don't donate to the Republican party or any of it's surrogates. It's ok to hurt them. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  17. Well, there's your problem. It's pretty apparent that she: A) Doesn't know how to act like an adult. B) Doesn't know how to ask nicely. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  18. So, let me get this straight. A person associated with the Clinton foundation is found dead of an apparent suicide. It must be the Clinton hit team taking him out. An associate of Trump, one who is pretty deep in the Russia situation, is found dead of an apparent suicide and there's no news of it for almost 2 months. And total silence from the alt-right. 19. I thought it was funny when Redstate or some equivalent created a stink about the quantity of American Flags on the Dem convention stage compared to the the GOP Convention. They of course didn't zoom out to show what Trump thought was actually important: https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/republican-convention3.jpg?quality=85&w=594 And, of course, how many flags are on stage is a far, far better measure of a candidate's suitability for office that, say, what he says publicly about women or minorities or the disabled. Or how many times he's declared bankruptcy, or how many times he's been sued for non-payment or fraud or discrimination (we really need a sarcasm font). 20. Well, yes and no. This goes back to what I remember of basic Civics (middle school level). I may have been taught wrong, or maybe am remembering wrong, but here goes: House represents the people. Direct vote, assigned by population. Senate represents the states. Originally chosen by the state governments (which has been changed), assigned 2 per state, regardless of population. President represents the whole country. Elected by the electoral college, based on vote of people, only one person in the office. The idea of the electoral college was originally so that if the populace elected a president who was bad for the country, they could over-rule it. Now, obviously, the people will elect a president that they think best represents their interests (whether it be single issue like guns or abortion or a "whole package" on a wide variety of issues). Same with the senators. But the president still represents the country as a whole. Whether it be abroad (like the G-20), or or here at home (like health care or the immigrant issue). A bit of semantics and perhaps a bit pedantic. And again, to expect Trump to put anyone or anything ahead of himself is pretty foolish. 21. Ok. Your original post did have those questions, but it wasn't entirely clear. I had to read the post I quoted, and then go back and read your original. So... A) A CYPRES2 needs the offset to be put back in for each jump. It doesn't turn of. It does a few other things, depending on how it was set and how the landing field elevation was relative to the setting (pages 19 & 20 in my manual). B) That's a personal choice. Is the hassle of turning it back on and resetting it each time worth the safety of having it on? Only you can answer that one. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  22. I won't disagree with HRC "shooting herself in the foot", but the idea that the president represents constituents is: A- wrong. That's the job of Congress. B - If any one expected Trump to represent anyone's interests than his own, well... Back to stupid gullible and ignorant. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  23. More likely it was 61 million Americans who Hillary and Democrats have ignored or called ignorant, gullible, stupid and deplorable. Well, if they believed (among other things) that Obama was Kenyan and Muslim, Hilary was responsible for the deaths at Benghazi, Trump was a successful businessman or that the Russians had nothing to do with the campaign, then they are ignorant, stupid and gullible. If they believe that Mexicans are rapists, Muslims are terrorists and that it's ok to treat women like objects, then they are deplorable. I have to admit that it was a hell of an eye opener to realize how many people are either or both of the above. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 24. Agreed on all points. One other thing that isn't always remembered is that he actually went to the Three Mile Island plant during the emergency. He was a 'nuc' in the Navy and really understood nuclear power and how reactors worked. He understood leadership and responsibility too (unlike the current occupant of the office). But (again) he didn't understand deception and lying and taking advantage of an opponents weak points. So he was vulnerable to it. 25. How can you not see the irony in your totally random number of 50 jumps? It's not fair!! I'm used to using camera's!! hahaha I have a fundamental suspicion of any criterion that ends up requiring a number of experiences corresponding to an integer multiple of the number of digits on our hands. 50, 100, 200, 500 are all arbitrarily chosen for convenience rather than demonstrated utility. So would you prefer 201? Or maybe 197? You know perfectly well that those numbers are chosen because we humans have a fascination with zeros. And more of one when there is a '1' in front of those zeros. 200 is the old requirement for a D license. It's also the minimum for wingsuit and camera. It's a good place for that too, IMO. Enough jumps that some stuff has become relatively habitual. Gear checks, exit protocols, various other stuff. Enough skills and experience to start adding extra stuff, stuff that has the potential to be a distraction. But, as seen in this thread, others have differing opinions.
