Yup. And the Trumpettes continue to believe his garbage, complain that he's 'mistreated' by the media and worship the ground he walks on.
-
Well, the rise in his popularity is not at all surprising. GWB saw something like 39% increase in fall of 2001. GHWB saw a 16% increase after the start of the Gulf war in 91. So, with that in mind, Trumps rise of a few points is actually lower. As far as the rest of the Trumpettes: Sound familiar? Source (for both the quote and the stats):

Insight? Pfft. Just confirmation of what anyone who pays attention has known for some time.

Well, they're losing a lot of profit due to the economic slowdown. They need to make it up somehow. Having them be their own enforcement of pollution rules is one way for them to not have to pay for proper treatment, disposal and handling of pollutants. Now they can just dump them where ever they want.

Hi Jerry, No. As I noted above, I watch a lot (too much) 'reality crime' TV. First 48, Forensic Files, that sort of thing. Cigarette butts usually have saliva on them and can provide DNA. If I put someone else's DNA at a crime scene, then they are less likely to focus on me and it provides a defense attorney an avenue of "it wasn't my client's DNA found at the scene". This concept is hardly original.
-
Kinda like scrounging random cigarette butts off the ground to drop at the scene of the crime.

I've gained some respect for Twitter during this situation. They also deleted tweets from the twit David Clark. Former Sheriff of Milwaukee County. He called on people to gather together and march in the streets to protest the governor's 'safe at home' order and school closings. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/david-clarke-twitter-coronavirus_n_5e7008d3c5b60fb69ddc921d

Well, one of my 'indulgences' is 'real life crime' TV. Lately, the "Court TV Mystery" channel (used to be 'Escape') has been showing old A&E "First 48" episodes. It follows homicide detectives as they investigate murders (tagline - if the police don't get a suspect in the first 48 hours, their chances of solving a case drop by one half). The number of cases where cell phone records are crucial in clearing the case is huge, either the numbers called or the locations the calls were made from. If I ever decide to commit a serious crime, my phone will NOT be coming with me.
-
Of course, the fact that all of this can be thwarted by simply leaving your phone behind seems to be a concept beyond the comprehension of many.

Are People Jumping Right Now?
wolfriverjoe replied to PlaneFun's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, how about Lone Star down in Texas. They had a FB post earlier this week that they were still open. Not sure if that is still true or not. -
Thanks, Ron. I can see that there was enough 'oddness' in that post that the system rejected it. "Character oddness", not content. There was a regular poster in the DB Cooper thread a while ago who often went 'smiley nuts' and posted a gazillion emojis and maybe 10 words. Her posts actually made more sense that that 'Q' crap. Which, if you read the Cooper insanity a back when it was actually making progress (and know who I mean), then that's saying something. If you wish to believe that the whole virus outbreak is a "Deep State" plot to bring down the Mango Mussolini, go ahead.

Mixing Glider and Skydivers
wolfriverjoe replied to Mean Rob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Communicate. The DZ should have an "S&TA" (Safety & Training Advisor). That would be a place to start. Otherwise the DZO (Drop Zone Owner). Get together and discuss how to minimize risks. Skydivers can seem a bit odd, but believe me - If you approach them wanting to work together to keep everyone safe, they should be willing to work with you. I'm going to bet that your gliders (sailplanes, right?) follow standard traffic patterns, right? So do skydivers under canopy. We have the advantage that we need very little distance to land, so we can land in almost any direction (no need for a lengthy runway). But my DZ lands almost exclusively east or west (parallel to the runway) so our patterns mirror the ones used by the fixed wing craft. I would be surprised if you can't come to an agreement with the jumpers that 'gliders fly their patterns over here, jumpers fly their patterns over there'. Also, do the gliders have radios? Jump pilots are supposed to broadcast over CTAF a 'two minute' call, a 'jumpers away' call and some even do a 'all jumpers on the ground' call. I understand that gliders can only come down (mostly) and once in the pattern are committed to landing (canopies are the same way). If you guys have radios, it would be reasonable to call out 'hold the jumpers, I'm in a bad place and have to fly through the canopy area to make it back'. Obviously, if this happens a lot, something is wrong. But again, skydivers understand this concept. Keep in mind that the jumpers are in free fall for maybe a minute, and under canopy for maybe 5 or so. Depending on the plane used (planes?) you might have only a couple canopies in the air every 40 minutes or so (if they are using one C-182) or up to 20 every 20 minutes (if they use a DH-6 Otter). So, while there is a potential for conflict, it's in a fairly limited time window. -
Huh? Is DZ.com not allowing it?

I'm finding out that I'm not quite as nice of a person as I'd like to think. I'm perfectly fine with those idiot preachers calling their congregations in to mass. If those fools think that "Jesus will protect them" or 'the whole thing is a hoax', great. Let them infect each other, get lots of people sick all at once, overwhelm the health care system and die. The downside is that many of those morons are rich and influential enough that they will get care, displacing poor and minority patients who didn't do stupid shit like gather in large groups.
-
Because it is a proven treatment for other things. If the dipshits who believe the Mango Mussolini go out and buy it all up to treat a condition that it doesn't help (or at least isn't proven to help), then those who suffer from those other conditions will be hurt.

How can it be 'giving money back? Much of the money being handed out to corporations is going to companies that paid little or no income taxes.

trump to Ease Restrictions and FOX News Agrees
wolfriverjoe replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Seems like a small band of truly gullible people keep trying to defend him and justify the garbage he's spewing. -
Both the bank & auto bailouts were started by GWB. But Obama continued and expanded them. And gets a ton of blame for them, too.
-
In Wisconsin, liquor stores are considered 'essential'. They also sell all types of alcohol at grocery stores and gas stations.
-
Even more so that the party that severely criticized the Obama era bailouts is proposing virtually the same thing.

Well, right now it's illegal in 17 states to be out in public. And the drunk driving analogy is pretty apt. If you want to jump without an AAD, RSL or reserve, ride a cycle without a helmet or whatever, go for it. The only person it puts at risk is you. However, the reason drunk driving is illegal and the reason for the 'shelter in place' orders is because taking those risks doesn't affect just you. It puts the entire community at risk. If you go out and get infected, you will get sick. But before you show symptoms, you will infect others. (current estimate is 4 days before symptoms show up). If you want to put yourself at risk, go for it. Totally your choice. But when your 'acceptable risk' puts other people at risk, then it changes.

China 'willfully inflicted coronavirus upon the world'
wolfriverjoe replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Bullshit. He was trying to pretend it wasn't serious so his stock portfolio wouldn't tank. And, of course, after it became apparent that it was serious, he claimed he 'knew it was a pandemic before anyone else'. He wasn't trying to calm the public, he was thinking only of himself and his image. As always. If he was 'trying to calm the public' (or even thinking of anyone but himself) why didn't he take the question asked 'what would you say to a scared public?' (paraphrased). He didn't say something vanilla and calming, like Pence did later. He called the person who asked the question "Nasty". If he had said how serious it was and how serious it needed to be taken from the beginning, we could have done similar to South Korea (not as much testing, we didn't have the tests). And if we had taken it seriously to begin with, it probably wouldn't be as bad as it it. Again, I fail to see how anyone can continue to support or defend this buffon. -
Not in Wisconsin. They closed the bars. Let me repeat that: They closed the bars in Wisconsin.

Why not? The showers are cleaned and sanitized after each use. They are actually very nice. Many places are not letting customers serve themselves. The store folks put on fresh gloves and pour your coffee and/or get the food for you. They have extra staff cleaning all over. I wasn't too concerned.
