    Q

True. But there's no real 'information' being disseminated by "Q". Just lies. How many of the claims about arrests or 'military tribunals on Gitmo' have come to pass? You believe it because it says what you want to hear. "Q" knows that and keeps telling you those lies. PT Barnum was right.
  2. Unfortunately, you do not realize that he doesn't care. He will continue to post his denier stance regardless of any logic, facts, data (accurate data, not cherry picked) or any other argument you may pose. He will not listen to any evidence that his position is garbage. He will simply ignore it and continue to post his crap.
  3. Then you aren't listening. They got frisky in Syria, along the Turkish border, when Trump pulled all the SF guys out. The Kurds were too busy trying not to get slaughtered by the Turks to do anything to stop them. There's a good argument that they will take advantage of the chaos caused by Trump's attack to stage more attacks. Like these: https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/01/05/iraqi-troops-killed-in-attack-by-isis-as-rockets-fall-in-green-zone-iraqis-say/
  4. You are right. Try this one: https://www.wbay.com/content/news/Man-found-guilty-of-assaulting-protester-outside-Trump-rally-in-Cincinnati-566857001.html?fbclid=IwAR17WhLE_w6nUqSjA8gENFe0Tfkk2SNHVjxL0fXx857NMhvOXsI3gUNz6DM The other one was for a car board I read. Someone made a cutting board, like a checkerboard, but in the "Pascha" pattern. The one that Porsche used back in the 70s, the one that drives epileptics crazy.
  5. Well, a Trump supporter who attacked a 61 year old protester has been found guilty of simple assault (misdemeanor charge). He faces up to 6 months when sentenced. https://www.popularmechanics.com/home/how-to-plans/how-to/g1501/how-to-build-a-chess-and-checkerboard/ Gotta love how the defense attorney claimed that the guy who was attacked 'provoked' the attacker.
  6. An interesting story in the Guardian. Twitter bots & trolls are exaggerating the level of arson. Kind of like they want to pretend that the extra fires are all because of arson. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/08/twitter-bots-trolls-australian-bushfires-social-media-disinformation-campaign-false-claims?CMP=fb_gu&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR2y6seCeT-Jkxo4YMVH6o2vY-KCgkrwqFqcjxNv33AAiczvt8_KlZKxKCA#Echobox=1578442973
  7. One of the 'fun' parts about atheistic morality vs religious morality that I haven't seen mentioned is the enforcement angle. The religious idea that only religious people can be moral because God gave them the laws is a load of crap. The basic 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' doesn't require any divine inspiration. It's the basic idea of treating others as you would like to be treated. However, there are a lot of people who are selfish and uncaring enough that they would do anything they could get away with if it benefited them. So, for people who are smart or sneaky enough to get away with all sorts of things, yet not have any sort of conscience bothering them, there's the "God" angle. The societal 'brake' of having someone or something 'know when you are sleeping, know when you're awake, know if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake' is a pretty good way of making people obey the law. And the idea of having an 'immortal soul' that can and will suffer punishment after death is just a 'cherry on the top' for that entire concept. The "God Concept" has a variety of benefits along similar lines. Dietary laws are another example. It's a convenient & effective way of keeping people from eating tasty foods that have a strong potential of being dangerous. Take pork for example. Bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good. But pigs are filthy animals. They have all sorts of nasty parasites & pathogens running through them. Before those things were fully understood, before people understood that pork had to be fully cooked to be eaten safely, saying that "God said not to eat that" was an effective way of stopping people from sneaking in the odd side of back bacon when nobody was looking. The fact that those who did have a ham sandwich here and there stood a much better chance of dying just reinforced that idea. And for individuals, the idea that someone is 'watching over them' is helpful. Ron himself made that claim a while back. He was in an accident, and he felt that when an ambulance was close by, when passersby stopped and prayed with him, that he wasn't hurt and his wife wasn't killed, all those were signs that God was taking care of him. There was a similar situation after a tornado last spring. A woman was interviewed on the news. Some of her neighbors were dead, others were injured. Her house was demolished. Yet, because she was unhurt and her kids only had minor injuries, then she was absolutely certain (and said it multiple times) that God was watching over her. The idea that if God was really looking out, then maybe the accident/tornado wouldn't have happened in the first place seems to not occur to them.
  8. Well, google says that 85% of wildfires in the US are caused by humans. Most are accidental, some are arson. I'd guess that Australia isn't all that different. I'd guess that the causes of the fires hasn't changed all that much over the years. As you note, the cause of the fires isn't all that important. What IS important is that the fires are more common, bigger and more destructive. This is true all over the world. Not just Australia (or the US). So if the causes haven't changed, what has changed? Hmmmmm... Temps & moisture content, you know, that pesky AGW stuff.
  9. Well, apparently the only casualties were Iraqis. And the stock market took a hit. Since Trump has no concern for 'brown people', but DOES care about the Dow Jones, he may actually not take this any further. Not my assessment, but that of others. His kid met with the Saudis last night. Not on the schedule, not publicized. I wonder what they had to talk about? Hmmmm... It's been speculated that Trump will mock the Iranians response, pretend he won and not escalate it any further. What else the Iranians may or may not do remains to be seen. Also, the 'imminent' part of the threat is evaporating rather rapidly. Nobody had been able to articulate what specific attacks the Iranians were planning. If that is true, then the attack was not legal. Failing to inform Congress prior to the attack would also have been illegal.
  10. I don't think we've seen him go completely off the rails. Take his name calling and multiply it by a bunch. Take his lies about opponents and multiply it by a bunch. Take the worst of his idiotic tweets and multiply that by a bunch. Then put him on national TV from the Oval Office. Calling the Iranian's stupid, racist, derogatory names. Saying they deserved to be slaughtered (decimated to the last man ). Saying it was necessary for the US to stand up to them, when it was clear that the Iranians attacked him personally. Saying anyone who didn't agree with him was a traitor. Saying that the Ds were allying with Iran against the US if they opposed him. Threatening to fire any general who didn't follow his orders. Full on 'dictator mode'. Think about Hugo Chavez and some of his speeches. The problem is that his supporters, which still are about 1/3 of the country, would lap it up. They'd be all in to destroy 'those people'. Like Trump, they don't think this sort of thing through. Look how supportive they are for killing a representative of a foreign government on a diplomatic mission. Look at how they are buying the fact that Suleimani was a 'top enemy' of the US, despite the fact that they never heard of him before (Trump has tweeted about him once in the past). To repeat: Scary as all hell.
  11. It wouldn't be all that hard to do. A competent team, well trained & financed, could easily target one of Trump's resorts, hotels or golf courses. In the US or somewhere else (funny that the emoluments clause would have a side effect like that). Hezbollah has utilized car bombs throughout the Middle East. 500 lbs of high explosives, smuggled in, acquired or home made, int he trunk of a car or back of an SUV would make a hell of a mess. If Iran made a statement to the effect that they were targeting Trump himself, not the US, they could have a hell of a propaganda coup. Trump's admission that the attack in Iraq was at his order, his threats to target Iranian cultural sites (which is a war crime), his threat to retaliate in a 'disproportionate manner', all of that puts the responsibility directly on Trump, far more than on the US government as a whole. And if Iran attacked some of Trump's personal assets, not US government ones, that would make it really personal for Trump. He'd go bananas. Absolutely ballistic. It wouldn't surprise me if he ordered a nuclear attack (yes, I believe he is that unstable and irrational). The Pentagon has already issued a statement that they would not violate any international rules of war, in response to Trump threatening Iran's cultural sites. Congress is in the process of passing a resolution restricting Trump's power and authority to act. Depending on a whole lot of things, I can see a variety of outcomes to this sort of scenario. From a nuclear attack to Trump being '25th'd' and removed. This is scary as all hell.
  12. His original name was Sangi. After he biffed, and ended up paralyzed for life, he came back under the name "Clipped Wings" and owned his mistake. The one Virgin Burner started asking for donations for books for Sangi to read while in the hospital: https://www.dropzone.com/forums/topic/30584-anyone's-got-a-spare-50$-for-our-friend-sangi!%3F/ There's a couple other threads, including the one in incidents, but I can't seem to find them. The 'member page' has ALL the content from the person. In chronological order. For some folks, that's a few hundred pages.
  13. I believe she meant the idea that the 'new generation' has no clue how to differentiate between 'real' and 'imagined' threats. I don't disagree that many young folks haven't learned decent 'critical thinking' skills. That is, comparing and contrasting different sources, learning how to evaluate the reliability of those sources, being objective enough to search out sources that confirm what you don't like and disprove what you do like. But some have. And to think that all older people have any clue what's real and what's not is ridiculous. Look how many bought into Trump's "FAKE NEWS!!!!!" cries. And how many think "Q" is a valid source. Also, to think that an Act of War against Iran isn't a serious issue, a potential spark for a pretty big conflict, is to disregard a lot of history. Edit to add: Funny that I read this immediately after making the original post: Again, Heather Cox Richardson on FB. Iran has united in a way they haven't in a while (shades of the US in Sept 2001?) Trump has threatened to commit war crimes. He is using Twitter as an 'official notice to Congress'. And (from the link): "Retired General David Petraeus, who led the U.S. surge in Iraq, said: 'There’s no question that the tensions have been dramatically increased as a result of this action…. This is clearly heading in a very bad direction. Make no mistake about it: There will be losses on all sides if this escalates further.'"
  14. Are you aware of US involvement (meddling) in Iran in the 20th century? We overthrew a democratically elected government to install a brutal tyrant. It's rather disgusting how the US is all about 'civil rights' and 'democracy' unless it is in another country. Then we seem to find the most brutal and oppressive dictator we can, and install them in charge. The US then supported the Shah for 4 decades, selling him all sorts of hardware and getting oil. To pretend that the US doesn't 'own' at least some of the responsibility for the Iranians 'Death To America' attitude is pretty disingenuous. To pretend that Iran has no valid reasons to project power regionally is too. And as far as the Camp David accords go, how many wars have Israel & Egypt had since then? How many large scale wars has Israel been involved in since then?
  15. #1 - Disclaimer - not an instructor. However, I've been doing this a while, and had to deal with stability (more accurately, lack of it) early on. Arching alone is not going to keep you from spinning. You need symmetry as well. If your legs, shoulders, arms or hips are uneven, you will turn. In fact, making some or all of those uneven intentionally is how you turn and maneuver. Tunnel time can help. Make sure the instructor knows you are an AFF student and is not just giving you a thrill ride. Floor or wall practice can help, but it will primarily give you the arch, not the symmetry. If you are doing floor arching, click your heels together to try to keep your legs even. If you are doing the 'boxman' student belly position, stick your thumbs in your ears to try to keep your arms even (the 'arms in front' position is also taught, but that's a bit different). If this is something that concerns you, discuss it with the instructors before the jump. Have them evaluate your position on the ground. Have them give you practical ideas how to ensure stability (they may suggest the stuff like heel clicks and 'thumbs in ears', they may have different techniques). Last, keep in mind that the instructors usually know what they are doing. They can tell if you are symmetrical and stable in your arch. They shouldn't release you unless they are reasonably confident that you will not 'spin off into the sunset'.
  16. Please define 'rational' (as in 'the folks over there'). Believes in the same "God"? Forgets our behavior (both the US specifically & the West in general) for the past 100 years or so? Has no interest in projecting power and influence over the region? Has no interest in preventing it's enemies from doing the same? And what would you suggest as an alternative to the 'progressive's rational approach'? Bomb them back to the Stone Age? Invade and replace the government with one we like? "Glass parking lot"? One of the first rules of international relations is the basic understanding that most, if not all leadership is rational from their own viewpoint. To think Iran is irrational for having a strong hatred for the West in general and the US specifically is to ignore history. Both in the short and long terms. And as far a 'sitting down for tea', what do you think about Trump sitting down with KJU? Is he not a murderous despot? Does he not represent a serious and significant threat? Yet Trump elevates his stature by a huge (and I mean HYOOOOOOOOGE!!!!!) margin. Both by words and actions.
  17. Are you looking to become a 'real skydiver'? Or just wanting a 'one & done' tandem? The second is somewhat possible. The first is going to be pretty hard.
  18. You have the best job in the whole world.
  19. And apparently Trump did not notify anyone in Congress about the attack. I'm not sure that makes it illegal, but it might. There's also the fact that the Iranians recently held joint exercises with the Russians & Chinese (for the first time). Gotta wonder what Putin thinks about it. And if Trump told him, but not Congress.
  20. Well, it's the "I was only joking" defense. Anytime the blatant offensiveness is called out, it becomes 'just a joke'.
  21. Not really. Tax evasion, laundering money for the Russian mob, trying to fire anyone who doesn't worship the ground he walks on, using his position (and his campaign before that) to line his pockets with government (the taxpayers - US) money, using the "Trump Foundation" as a personal piggy bank, blatant disregard for the Constitution, the list is pretty long. Of course, the Trumpettes all focus on Russian propaganda and other false claims that paint Trumps critics and opponents in a bad light.
  22. I'm not sure if this deserves it's own thread or not, so I'll just add it here. Brown County (the county in Wisconsin where Green Bay is located) set a new record. ZERO alcohol related fatal car crashes. This has never happened before. I'm not sure if I'm happy that it happened, or deeply disturbed that it's never happened in the past. Obviously, it happened in the time before cars. I'm not sure how far back they are going for the 'never'. Link (story is from the 31st, before it was official, but they didn't have any last night): https://www.nbc26.com/news/local-news/brown-county-on-pace-to-set-record-year-with-no-deadly-drunken-driving-crashes-in-2019
  23. I love how you ignore everything else to promote your "Deep State" and "Q" fantasy.
