Where are you? (General location if you don't want to be specific) Awesome shot. It's great to see apex predators coming back. We pretty much destroyed them without realizing how vital their presence is.

If you posted the entire list, we'd be here a long, long, looooong time, Professor.

Gotta love how the photographer is exactly where the screen they'd be watching should be... Yet none of them are looking directly at it.

Try pinching the end of the closing loop (with the rig open) and see how much room you need to put the pin in. It's not much. What Sundevil is suggesting is pulling the loop out as far as it will go, which is enough room to insert the pin (Captain Obvious, at your service). While it is out that extra (and it's only a little bit extra), you then hold your thumb on the loop where it crosses the grommet. Because the grommet is a hard surface, it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to hold it in place. That slack allows the pullup cord to be removed without a lot of drag across the closing loop. This is one of those things that is rather hard to understand when described (either verbally or written), but when demonstrated makes one go "Oh, duh. That is so obvious".

To expand on that a bit: "Free shit" doesn't automatically mean giving stuff to people (welfare, SNAP, SSI, ect). The 'military/industrial complex' is a good example. The military (government) orders lots and lots of expensive stuff from defense contractors. One such place is Oshkosh Defense. They make all sorts of nifty military vehicles. I have friends that work there. The government pays for those vehicles (pays a lot). That money goes to employees, suppliers, stockholders, ect. Those people then use that money to pay for their own stuff (housing, cars, food, entertainment, skydiving, ect). That money boosts the economy. But the government has no plan to pay for the stuff. It just borrows the money. On top of other borrowed money. And then cuts taxes to 'boost the economy', so it has even less money to pay back the money it's borrowed. So, essentially, the government has gotten those vehicles 'for free'.

What is he ever talking about?

I agree that if you can pull the end of the loop 1/2" past the grommet, then it needs to be tightened. But you have to pull it a bit past the grommet to get the closing pin in, right? That little bit is enough to take the tension off the pullup cord, allowing it to be removed. There's also the very simple technique of wrapping the pullup cord around the pin and getting it under the pin, not between the pin and the closing loop.

Juvenile comments during the press conference. Ummmm... Yeah. https://m.cnn.com/en/article/h_65e4b2750e9cdfded44bcb7c6ee33d30 Edit to add: Apparently planning for this mission has been going on for a while. The original plan was expecting the US SF guys to still be in place with the Kurds. Trump pulling all of them out, leaving no US assets on the ground, made them have to revise the plan and jeopardized it. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/28/donald-trumps-decision-withdraw-us-troops-syria-jeopardised/ And it may well be that he embellished the story about the raid. You know, lied about it.

How so? They shut down the government when Obama was president because they 'were against raising the Debt Ceiling'. They've allowed both the budget deficit AND the overall debt to balloon tremendously since the Mango Mussolini took over. Of course, their supporters simply ignore that.

And that's exactly why I suggested that the OP try different tools to find what works best for him. My experience is the opposite. And yes, I tried gripping the pack tool different ways. Wrapping the pullup cord was more comfortable. For me. And even the old binding tape pullup cords could be removed without tearing up the closing loop. It just takes a bit of effort and proper technique.
-
So why did they shut down the government when Obama was president?
-
Did he? I know his dad did. But that's a bit different. Can you point to any Kennedy business project that had clear indications of mob ties? Foreign or domestic? One of the oddest and clearest Trump project that shows mob ties are all the buildings he built by pouring concrete. In Manhattan. Which is something that simply cannot happen without mob ties. https://www.google.com/search?q=Trump+construction+concrete+mob+ties&oq=Trump+construction+concrete+mob+ties&aqs=chrome..69i57.8602j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I'd like to see how that would happen. A stripped lower is a LONG way from a functional firearm. It's not like you could slap an upper on, push the pins in and be ready to shoot. You'd need at minimum, hammer, trigger (plus springs & pins), buffer tube, buffer & recoil spring. Plus an upper & pins for that. Pistol grip, safety and ejection port cover (along with all the pins & springs & stuff for those) to complete it. I think the real problem with using it as a paperweight is the weight (or more accurately, lack of it). The attraction of the polymer stuff is how light it is.

Meh. They thought those things would restore their 'lost rights' and stop the 'brown people' from coming in. That the long lost (and permanently gone) manufacturing jobs would come back. Trump made ridiculous promises (that he had no intention of keeping) to white people who felt their power slipping away. They were dumb enough to fall for it. Nothing 'sound' about those policies. Stupid policies are still stupid, even if they are popular.
-
How is that 'twisting shit around'? You clearly stated that a woman needs to have sound policy. Trump had none. I believe you are or have been a Trump supporter. How is that not a double standard? The funny part about this is that HRC DID HAVE sound policy and a pretty clear vision for the country. Not everyone agreed with that vision, but it was pretty clearly stated (and then totally twisted and misrepresented). I agree that, to a large degree, being a woman wasn't the main factor in HRC's defeat. One thing I found really ironic was that, back in the beginning of the Lewinski scandal, HRC went on national morning news (Today? GMA?) and claimed that the whole thing was a 'vast right wing conspiracy'. When it wasn't. Yet one of the bigger reasons for her defeat was the character assassination campaign waged for several years by... The right wing.

Well, I'm going to guess that the fact that both are facing lawsuits from the crashes mentioned in the episode has a lot to do with that choice. I found it interesting that Nova conveniently failed to mention that the woman killed by the Uber car was jaywalking. They did mention that the Tesla cars were operating their 'auto pilot' in an environment that is specifically prohibited by the instructions.

It's called "Gaslighting" and it's a favorite tool of most manipulative narcissists.

How about "name one incident where Obama put his personal interests ahead of the country's?"

What kind of advice are you looking for? Lots of people use what's called a "packboy" or "power tool", which is a metal rod thin enough to go through the grommets with a length of CYPRES loop cord (or similar) that acts as the pull up cord. Personally, I use a standard pull up cord, which has changed since I started jumping from 'normal' binding tape to a softer fabric sort of material, usually printed with company logos. Last summer I found a thing called a PUCA tool (Pull Up Cord Assist). It's a handle that the pull up cord wraps around and gives a comfortable handle to grip. I find it a lot easier on my hands than wrapping the pull up cord around them Really old school is to use the gutted 550 cord, which is standard parachute cord with the center strings removed. Also old school is to use a shoe lace, but if you do that, make sure you remove the aglet. It is vulnerable to being stripped off and jamming the closing pin. The only advice I would offer is: 1 - Try before you buy. Most jumpers I know would be willing to let you use a power tool or PUCA tool, as long as you used it when they didn't need it. As noted above, the power tool rod is pretty thin. I'm not a big fan of them for that reason. 2 - Don't wear the power tool around your neck. The idea of wearing something around your throat that will kill you before it breaks is a really bad one. Lots of people do that, it's pretty stupid. Some wear them when jumping, which is really fucking stupid.

Oops. You're right. A bit of searching found that the original race car was really called "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" because the motor made that sound (motor was a Zepplin engine). I always thought it was a Bentley Speed Six. Thanks for the correction.

Yes, they do. Thanks. -
Presuming you meet the requirements to take the course, my understanding is that fall rate range (ability to fall faster or slower) and ability to fly very close to others are at or near the top of the list. Disclaimer: Not an instructor, but I've observed AFFI courses a number of times, and had some fun discussions with the instructor candidates.

Oh my. There's some pretty cool stuff on that FB page. https://www.facebook.com/exosaerosystech/ You have an interesting job.

Does your rig have the little loops for the butt bungee? They're just binding tape sewed to the edge of the leg pads. Easy enough to add if they aren't there, but most rigs have them. The bungee itself is just a length of shock cord.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a Bentley.
