Some won't. But I don't think a lot (enough to matter). The 'shades of Hillary' would have to include E-Mails, Benghazi, Pizza parlors with child sex rings in basements that don't exist (both the basement and the sex ring), murderous plots and all that. Hillary didn't lose because she was a woman. As noted above, she lost because she was on the receiving end of one of the most viscous and protracted character assassination efforts in modern history.

Upholding his responsibility. He's advancing the personal interests of Trump. One of those personal interests is getting re-elected. So Trump sent Giuliani over there to dig up dirt on Biden. That's why the impeachment inquiries began. Captain Obvious, at your service. :p

I have to say it's rather amusing (not really) that Trump has taken an opinion of the Justice Dept, and both given it the full weight of law, and expanded it from 'cannot be indicted or prosecuted' to 'cannot be investigated' and 'has immunity'. As noted in the article, being prevented from investigating Trump also prevents investigating his family and associates. Since when were those people part of the Justice Dept's opinion memo?

Diff between RW & Competition jumpsuits
wolfriverjoe replied to celticrider67's question in Questions and Answers
Which companies are those? I've seen a few knock off suits from overseas (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Viet Nam). A couple were 'sorta decent'. Most were pretty flimsy (construction, materials or both). I've also heard of more than a few companies that promised cheap suits, but simply took the deposit and then disappeared. -
Green new deal equals magical thinking
wolfriverjoe replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Some environmental issues were a lot worse in the past. Through a lot of effort, new technologies. legislation and money, some of them were addressed. And, of course, those who were affected by new rules & laws (especially those who had to pay for them), claimed that these new rules would 'destroy' various industries (automobile, mining, power production, ect). Yet they went through and the auto industry survived emissions rules like catalytic converters and unleaded gas. The mining industry survived rules that stopped them from simply strip mining coal, then leaving behind nothing but a mess. The power industry survived not being able to use high sulfur coal. The benefits of breathable air, a landscape that wasn't just a mud field, rain that wasn't acidic were pretty clear. That has little or no bearing on the longer, slower process of AGW. Except to maybe show that we can change behaviors. that those changes can have a positive effect and that the people who claim that there's no problem and any solutions are 'magical' are full of shit. I don't 'hate coal'. I don't like the damage it causes, both from extraction and consumption. Especially when there are better alternatives. I do hate the corporate executives who have screwed over the miners, communities around the mines, the environment, ect, while lining their pockets, and the pockets of the politicians they buy to be able to do whatever they want. This has gone on for centuries, and continues to this day. Similarly, I'm not against mining. But to do it safely and responsibly, to make sure it is done without destroying the surrounding environment is not cheap. And most mining companies are more interested in profit than being environmentally responsible. -
Diff between RW & Competition jumpsuits
wolfriverjoe replied to celticrider67's question in Questions and Answers
Well, there are probably a few differences I don't know about (I don't make jumpsuits), but the folks I know who compete in RW (belly) use RW jumpsuits. Not a whole lot different than 'normal' RW suits. Some of them have some features that aren't on every suit (big booties, vented booties, extra grippers), but those are available for anyone. I also know more than one fun jumper who is jumping an old suit from a top level competitor (SDC Rhythm - You can tell because they have the name of the team member on the back collar). Suits intended for vertical stuff (freeflying) are a bit different. But that's not what you are asking. Used suits are the best choice... If you can find one. But finding one that fits well and is in good shape may or may not happen. If you end up going new, Tony & Bev are both great. Bev is more marketed towards women, but I think she makes them for anyone. Vertical is also good. They make more freefly suits, but I think they'd make a belly suit if you ordered one. If you go new, take some time and talk to the maker. With the cost and time involved, make sure you understand what you are getting and are getting what you want. -
Actually, I'm pretty 'familiar with "The Word"'. I was raised in a pretty religious family. I was pretty faithful myself. Until some pretty obvious contradictions became apparent to me. It was, however, far more the reaction from the 'supposed wise elders' that really pushed me away. Rather than trying to explain the contradictions, I was simply punished for asking questions. But back to the subject, it was YOU who has claimed that a 'personal relationship with Jesus' gets one into heaven. When I asked you about actually following the teachings of Jesus and some of your behaviors, you simply dismissed it. Now you say that one will 'stand in judgement before Jesus'.
-
Just Christians? Not any other religion? If they really have it, it's a shame so few actually use it. Wait a minute. I thought 'accepting Christ as your savior' got all your sins forgiven. I thought that it guaranteed your "Rapturing" when the time came. I thought you could do anything, and your 'personal relationship' with Jesus would take care of it. At least that's what you have claimed before.

There's also the very simple fact that people who present themselves at the border to apply for asylum are NOT here illegally. The application for asylum/refugee status is the beginning of the process to become a legal resident. Once that application is made, they are not 'illegal aliens'. The xenophobes & bigots tend to ignore that.

Well, this seems to fit here. Trump and his minions have been hammering on journalists. Calling the 'Mainstream Media' "Fake News", when what it does is criticize him. So, of course, some of his followers latch onto it. Some of those followers are in positions of certain power. And, of course, they abuse that power. To include Customs officers harassing journalists. https://www.defenseone.com/threats/2019/10/us-customs-officer-harasses-defense-one-journalist-dulles/160380/?fbclid=IwAR2ES7FLGGYsGUhIb5TBzKY5Q_ZtJa4zfI5MzFDGaP7PgPrn5uKchJfAfdU

Can You Install a Skyhook Into any Rig? How?
wolfriverjoe replied to Bkleven7's topic in Gear and Rigging
To expand on that a bit, the Skyhook is a patented item. It's only available in the Vector. It can only be retrofitted to Vectors, and not all of them, IIRC. It would be considered a 'modification' and 'master rigger' territory. Crossing over manufacturers is likely not 'approvable' (or legal). Edit to add: Bill Booth licensed the Skyhook to Sunpath, so it's available in the Javelin too. Not sure if it can be retrofitted into some, or all or even any older ones. -
Simplest would be to go to the rig manufacturer's website, find the sizing page. There will be instructions on how to take measurements for ordering a new rig. Have someone measure you (don't try to do it yourself, you can't). A rigger or tailor/seamstress is best, but anyone who can follow instructions and read a tape measure can do it. Get the serial number from the rig and then send both the S/N and your measurements to the manufacturer. They should be able to tell you if it will fit, or if a harness resize is an option, or if it can't be made to fit. 2" of height may not be enough to worry about. If the guy's legs are long and yours are short, the MLW measurement may be the same.

Climate Change Has been a Routine Scare Tactic Since the 1930s

So people in Sweden shouldn't care about the Maldives? Or the Great Barrier Reef? Or the glaciers? (you know they have glaciers in Sweden, right?) -
Yeah, and 'the Devil's voice is sweet to hear'. It's abundantly obvious that some people hear exactly what they want to hear, and pretend it's the 'holy spirit.'
-
Do you mean like the guy who assaulted the kid who didn't remove his hat for the Star Spangled Banner? Gave him a skull fracture. Claimed he was 'acting on orders from his Commander in Chief'.

I have to say it's amazing how mocking, belittling and demonizing a teenaged girl can be considered 'lighthearted'. It was phrased as humor (I was just joking), but it's pretty apparent she struck a nerve.

Well, it's pretty obvious that Trump follows copyright laws as much and as well as any other law. For those who haven't seen or heard of it (I don't follow Twitter and hadn't heard about it until this): https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/03/politics/twitter-donald-trump-nickelback-tweet-copyright-complaint-trnd/index.html

Yeah, but would they have used taxpayer money to pay for it? (we really need a 'sarcasm' font)
-
Well, in a rather surprising development, a prominent R is now defending the whistle blower. Trump has been repeatedly calling for the W/B to come out, make public statements and be interviewed (after calling for his execution for espionage). Chuck Grassley has said that whistle blowers who follow the laws (and this one appears to have done so) should be heard out, protected and respected. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/01/grassley-trump-whistleblower-014715
-
Well, in a not terribly surprising statement, Senator Ron Johnson is more troubled by the leaking of the whistle blower complaint than by Trump's actions. "That's just how he talks", referring to Trump. Of course it is. He's a crook and he talks like one. Story: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2019/09/26/senate-republican-ron-johnson-wisconsin-said-thursday-while-president-trumps-critics-putting-worst-p/3779606002/

Well, given that there are strong indications that Trump has been laundering money for the Russian mob for years, and the fact that the Russian mob operates with Putin's permission and blessing, I doubt it was what 'the dipshit blurted out'.
-
Well, it is a 'common diplomatic practice' to keep confidential conversations confidential. Both within and between countries. But there are exceptions. Like when one of the parties in the conversation is under criminal investigation. And when the conversations are going to be released to the investigating parties. Of course, this gives Trump an excuse to fight the release. Not that he wouldn't have anyway. Gonna guess that Putin has enough on Trump to make him fight pretty hard.

And on a lighter note: There was a song released in 1973, by the funk group The Honeydrippers (not the Robert Plant 'crooner' album from the 80s). It has experienced a huge resurgence in the past week. Absolutely hyooge. The title? Impeach the President. https://www.okayplayer.com/music/streams-of-the-honey-drippers-iconic-impeach-the-president-soar-following-announcement-of-trumps-impeachment-inquiry.html Gotta love the closing line of the article: "Hold tight for a tweet from The Orange One condemning a new group of witch-hunting musicians."

Well, it would appear that he is as stupid about insults as he is about everything else. Amazon hasn't been on here for some time, but I think she would put it something like: Awwwww. The poor widdle orange man got his feewings all hurt.
