  1. Yeah. Trump and his sycophants did a hell of a job with the Teddy Roosevelt.
  2. Well, if the Rs hold Biden to the same standard they held Kavenaugh & Trump to, then he's in.
  3. It's South Park. The number of times they simply take the truth and run with it is staggering. What they did with the Mormons and the Scientologists was brutal. Absolutely hilarious and they didn't have to make up any of it.
  4. Ya know? It would seem that if we do the exact opposite of what the Mango Mussolini says, if we take every statement he makes and reverse it, we'd be doing the right thing.
  5. I seem to recall Greta saying something to the effect of: Don't listen to me, listen to the scientists. OTOH, Trump keeps telling us how smart he is and how much he knows. Even if he didn't know that people died from the flu.
  6. Lots of places seem to be having some success in reducing the spread. The "Hide Under the Bed" rules seem to be working. There's been some reports that show people aren't moving around. They're using phone tracking data to see where people go and how far. Projections of peak infections seem to be moving both lower and sooner.
  7. To a degree, maybe. But I think it's more that if he stays, he has some influence. If he leaves, he has none. No matter where he would go, no matter what he would say, Trump would ignore it. By staying, he at least has the ability to speak directly to the Mango Mussolini. Even if his advice is only followed some of the time (it does appear that way), it's a lot better than none of the time.
  8. Well, it's a lot more of: Because he felt privileged enough that he didn't have to follow the guidelines that others did. And not only Paul. All the other assholes who went to that gym well after most of the gyms available to the 'unwashed masses' had been closed. I'm not going to be nice about it. Damned shame that this asshole survived while John Prine died of it.
  9. Para Concepts (used to be at Skydive Chicago, now a little ways down the road) was a factory authorized Icarus repair facility. Not sure if they still are or not.
  10. I don't see it as "assigning blame" as much as "holding that idiot responsible for his actions" . The Senate could have removed him back in January and didn't. How much different would this have been had an adult (even one like Pence) been in charge?
  11. I don't see anyone 'not blaming' the Chinese. I see a LOT of people making excuses for Trump. It's kinda funny. China covered up the true numbers, tried to minimize the damage. The truth is coming out. Iran sorta tried but failed badly. Russia is trying to hide how bad it is, but word is getting out. Apparently it's really bad in the rural areas, and they simply don't have the healthcare capabilities to handle it (think Italy but way worse). What do all those governments have in common? Then you have Trump, who minimized, lied and pretended that it wasn't happening for over 2 months. Go figure.
  12. You think that the WHO didn't know that the Chinese gov't was lying? What do you think would have happened if the WHO 'insisted' on those things? Helpful hint: The Chinese have a nasty tendency to imprison or kill those that make the gov't look bad (you already knew this). The WHO had the very difficult position of doing what they could, as well as they could, while not getting themselves and their local folks into trouble. OTOH, here in the US we have Constitutional protections for speech and press. The citizens and the press have the obligation to hold those in charge accountable. Trump's actions have been so reprehensible, so irresponsible (of course, he said he's not responsible), so pathetic that NOT pointing fingers would be failing in those obligations... Kinda like Fox "News" is doing.
  13. Gotta wonder how he can keep posting under different names. I think it's pretty pathetic that he can think he's banned, then come back and post under a sock puppet. As he noted, he's got an 'army' of them. Various numbers of "o", "e" (Both middle and end) and "c" to make them different enough to register, yet similar enough to shove it in the faces of the mods that it's him. At least John Rich got creative about it.
  14. You don't have the conservatives selling out to the highest bidder. At least not as bad. When they sell their souls for campaign contributions, they have to do what they are told. When the contributor wants their business to stay open and making money, they tell the politicians to not put in a 'stay at home' order. The fact that dead people don't buy stuff seems to have escaped them.
  15. What about it? Flu is dangerous. That's why they push the flu vaccine so hard. That's why the CDC puts out all those ads about hand washing and coughing into your elbow. According to those stats, flu is fatal in about 0.1% of cases. That's 1 in 1000. Covid 19 is fatal in about 3.5% of cases. That number varies from place to place. Germany is seeing very low fatality numbers. Italy is around 10%, but that may be because they aren't testing a lot of people who may be sick. 3% would be one in 33 cases dies. 30 times more fatal. Plus there's no vaccine. Plus there's no acquired immunity (the flu comes in different strains, but some are close enough to others that immunity to one provides some protection against others). That's why health care professionals aren't dying from the flu much. It happens, but it's rare. They all get vaccinated. So they have a decent amount of protection. Not at all available for this. To compare Covid-19 to the flu is like comparing a 182 to an F-16. I agree that basic hygiene could stand improvement. But it doesn't seem to be a real issue. There aren't a lot of people getting sick from it. OTOH, I use public bathrooms all the time. I've seen waaaaaay to many guys walk out of the stall, past the sinks and grab the door handle. I've been using a paper towel to open the door, and then an elbow or toe on the exit door (those all open outwards) for a long time.
  16. Sorry to hear that Professor. Best of luck to you and him.
  17. Wisconsin shut down a couple of H/L stores. They are starting to talk about citations and fines for those who ignore the order.
  18. Something to remember is that the Ultra Violet light in sunlight is lethal to viruses. Not the best thing in the world for nylon, but it's an option. There are also special "UV-C" lights that do the same thing, with less damage than full-on sunlight. (Note: Beware of believing anything like this just because it's posted. Fact check it yourself)
  19. Funny that this should pop up on FB, just after I made my last post: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2017/01/04/pillowgate-bbb-revokes-mypillow-accreditation/96145828/?fbclid=IwAR1lG2GHnzIiCXX9dUitVyaP3tvOY4XU5IbdJFjxBzul11aB4XYiVdL4EjI The BBB revoked "My Pillow's" rating 3 years ago. Based on a pattern of complaints from consumers. Wow, what a surprise Trump thinks he's such a great guy.
  20. Well, its pretty apparent that since large gatherings have been shut down, Trump has gone into 'adoration withdrawl'. He can't go into arenas packed with his supporters cheering on his lies. So he pretends to be giving a 'briefing'. And just stands up there, spouting his lies, having his toadies pat him on the back, just like the rallies.
  21. Hi Jerry, AFAIK, no reputable newspaper endorsed him the first time.
  22. Oh hell no. This sort of stuff is on my mind on a regular basis. Point shooting is a way to aim. It's only good at very short ranges, and it takes a fair amount of practice. But I know guys who can do it reasonably well. "Reasonably well" meaning torso hits from 5 or 6 feet. Not dead center, but well within the 'C' area. Not all of them, but 75% or better. And I know full well the frame is polymer. He was talking about melting down the barrel. I haven't seen a polymer barrel yet (Yes, there are barrels that are made of carbon fiber, but they still have a steel liner).
  23. Ya think? What in the world gives you that idea??
  24. First off, it takes a hell of a 'torch' to melt steel. Most folks don't have oxy/acetylene handy. Second off, the cops know about 'switchable guns'. If they had a strong suspect and found a gun that could be the right one, they'd just find a 9mm barrel and look at the firing pin, extractor & ejector marks. The 'Wounded Knee' FBI killings were shown to be done with an AR. One argument for Peltier's innocence is that the cartridge markings didn't match. But the bullets matched the barrel. The shooters likely switched out the bolt & carrier, similar to what you are thinking. It might work, but I kinda doubt it. Interesting way to think about it, though.
  25. Drunk posting again? (him, not you) That's my guess.
