  1. I think the people of this country make too many decisions based on bizarre misconceptions about what some other "large portion" is doing or believes. I feel like more and more of these stories should just read, "Ridiculous Individual Confirms Stereotype." Bizarre misconceptions? Not really. I believe a "large portion" of the Conservative movement is ignorant of facts. I believe this based on facts. Those who are conservative in this country who believe that Obama is a Muslim, has risen since 2008, now around 30%. This as a group, is more than all black, Hispanics, and Jewish voters. There's no shortage of other poles that show conservatives believe the most absurd things about Obama: he's a terrorist, he was born in Kenya, etc etc etc. If you've been lucky enough to attend a tea bagger rally, like I have, you surely must have noticed all the signs that people carried that portrayed Obama as Hitler. I know I've heard Obama referred to as dictator once or twice, but then again, we all know that by the number of nationally elected tea Baggers, that this couldn't possibly be a "large portion" of voters. I'm a Democrat, of course I'm just a little biased, This did not stop me from starting a thread attacking Michael Moore and the silly shit he believed about Bush.
  2. Ya Well 5 of his brothers just got set free As bill Maher put it "we couldn't kill them with Predators at Guantanamo, so instead, we just gave them a running start."
  3. Yeah, 'cause Germany's never had any crazy politicians... I am REALLLLLY hoping we do not have to learn that particular lesson firsthand A large portion of this country is convinced it's currently happening.
  4. That was awesome and considering that they must have been flying "Blue water" ops and unable to divert to an airfield is even more impressive.
  5. It's guesswork to speculate about others' state of mind, especially a group of others. That being said, assuming Rich wasn't performing his jump on behalf of the USPA or in the course of his duties with the USPA (and despite the old canard that anyone can try to sue anyone for anything), I see no basis for any liability claim at all against the USPA arising out of this incident. It would seem that if the USPA had (supposedly) ignored previous concerns about a member of it's board (or any member) doing HP landings that put spectators at risk, that could be an issue for them.
  6. Is it possible that the reluctance of the USPA to publicly discuss this matter is do to the possibility of them being named in a civil lawsuit?
  7. I don't think the punishment has anything to do with BASE, but has everything to do with circumventing security at a hallowed national landmark and then rubbing it in.
  8. All this Tea Bagger angst is great... McDaniel's was so close, and now he's whining like a little child.
  9. This reminds be a bit of Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" back in 2007.
  10. Is there an actual USPA requirement for helmets? It seem like most helmets are used as nothing more than a place to mount your Go-Pro.
  11. It just doesn't seem that scary when it's done by a white dude.
  12. Alcohol and and golf carts appear to be a very bad combination.
  13. There's one Republican that gets it. http://youtu.be/_lbG1m_vKlU
  14. Perhaps she had to make up for this: http://youtu.be/WA-ebuLTlCI
  15. Do you mean like slavery and segregation? Perhaps you need to (re)take the high school class "introduction to American government" Imagine a grammar school some where in Michigan, with a Muslim Majority, your head would explode if a Christian child there was forced to say an Islamic prayer every morning before class.

  17. I've always been impressed by soldiers who will throw them self on a grenade to shield their comrades from certain death. CPL Carpenter did just that and today he received the nations highest award from the Commander in Chief. As I watched the president describe the grenade incident for the ceremony, I did not notice the deep bitter contempt that some say our CIC shows towards our troops. He looked very at ease with these men, and they with him. On a side note, I checked out the most common way that the CMOH was won in Vietnam. The majority was throwing your body on a grenade. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Medal_of_Honor_recipients_for_the_Vietnam_War
  18. If it is that easy, why haven't they (or any other organization) done it yet? Because history and reality do not scare conservatives nearly as much as painting a future scenario of this country being overrun by Islamic terrorist. Naturally, theses terrorist will be aided in carrying their weapons across the border by Mexican high school kids, who also have calves the size of cantaloupes.
  19. I don't think Israel ever has an issue with doing whatever it sees fit for their countries survival.
  20. It's either satire or a joke, or possibly both.
  21. It's not "crazy." It's prudent. http://www.ifr-magazine.com/oxygen-and-hypoxemia.html Right after donating, you're going to be at about 90% capacity at sea level. It will take 3 to 4 weeks to recover to 100%. You can quibble over how fit you are or some other such nonsense, but the fact remains it's a prudent recommendation. Not "crazy." I wonder why the military and the FAA would only require A three day wait for pilots after donation? I have a hard time believing that even if your Hemoglobin was down 10% That your Sp02 would mirror that and sink to 88%-90% at sea level, and then decrease into the 70s at altitude.
