Flammable liquids did seem to greatly enhance the level of enjoyment while playing with "army men" - as did your small to mid-level firecrackers, I always thought that the smell of burning liquids and gun powder created a sense of realism. On an average day, we used rubber bands. I would certainly add Hot Wheels as an honorable mention.

What's you're best traveling tip? International or domestic
jclalor replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
If it's 2am, and you find yourself in Istanbul for the first time, and two other first time "visitors" ask you in their broken Romani accent to join them for the walk downtown, where you soon find yourself in a "restaurant" surrounded by several beautiful Ukrainian women, who seem to be paying you slightly more attention than you're use to receiving... Things may not be as they appear. -
You do realize that Sunni ISSL (the Islamic state of Iraq in the Levant) has been fighting the rebel secular FSA, (the Free Syrian Army) for several years now? And that the FSA is about as secular as they come in that part of the world. Both of them are the two main groups (when not fighting each other) fighting the SA ( the Syrian Army) I know it's all a bit hard to keep up, that's why Obama was uneasy with giving heavy weapons to the "Syrian rebel groups" To say that the Syrian rebels became ISIL gives away you're lack of understanding of the issue. The fact of the matter is our friends IQI (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) just changed names to ISIL, you do remember the reason that IQI started?

I understand you hate Obama, we all get that, but always taking the 180 degree default GOP position, every single time, just makes you look historically ignorant. Read up on "Curveball".

they will NEVER give up the Bush lied bs Even though before he even became a canidate, the clintons, kerry and many other said what Bush was saying Their reality has no basis in fact but if they say it enough times they can get the school text books to rewrite history for them I don't think Bush lied. I do think that Bush and Co. made it very clear what intelligence should be brought forward and what intelligence should be buried. I think the intelligence agencies were used to drum up justification for a fait accompli. Ya. This is other made up story Let me refresh YOUR memory: Here you see both truck and rail car-mounted mobile factories. The description our sources gave us of the technical features required by such facilities are highly detailed and extremely accurate. As these drawings based on their description show, we know what the fermenters look like, we know what the tanks, pumps, compressors and other parts look like. We know how they fit together. We know how they work. And we know a great deal about the platforms on which they are mounted. As shown in this diagram, these factories can be concealed easily, either by moving ordinary-looking trucks and rail cars along Iraq's thousands of miles of highway or track, or by parking them in a garage or warehouse or somewhere in Iraq's extensive system of underground tunnels and bunkers. We know that Iraq has at lest seven of these mobile biological agent factories. The truck-mounted ones have at least two or three trucks each. That means that the mobile production facilities are very few, perhaps 18 trucks that we know of-there may be more-but perhaps 18 that we know of. Just imagine trying to find 18 trucks among the thousands and thousands of trucks that travel the roads of Iraq every single day. Colin Powell to UN, Feb 5, 2003. We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. You remember when Colin Powell stood up in front of the world, and he said, Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons. They're illegal. They're against the United Nations resolutions, and we've so far discovered two. And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them. G.W. Bush, May 29, 2003 "My personal view is we're going to find them, just as we found these two mobile laboratories” Donald Rumsfeld, May 29, 2003 "But let's remember what we've already found. Secretary Powell on February 5th talked about a mobile, biological weapons capability. That has now been found and this is a weapons laboratory trailers capable of making a lot of agent that -- dry agent, dry biological agent that can kill a lot of people. So we are finding these pieces that were described.” Condoleezza Rice, June 3, 2003 "We know that these trailers look exactly like what was described to us by multiple sources as the capabilities for building or for making biological agents. We know that we have from multiple sources who told us that then and sources who have confirmed it now. Now the Iraqis were not stupid about this. They were able to conceal a lot. They've been able to scrub things down. But I think when the whole picture comes out, we will see that this was an active program.” Condoleezza Rice, "We recently found two mobile biological weapons facilities which were capable of producing biological agents” President G W Bush, June 5, 2003 LIES, ALL LIES. These "WMD labs" turned out to be making hydrogen for artillery balloons. "Saddam Hussein's armoury of chemical weapons is on standby for use within 45 minutes", another LIE. Yellow cake from Niger (SOTU, January 2003), another LIE. The vast majority of all of the above bullshit was based on "Curveball". "In a February 2011 interview with the Guardian he "admitted for the first time that he lied about his story, then watched in shock as it was used to justify the war." http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curveball_(informant)

How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush
jclalor replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
I felt that way about W and the billions he gave to Africa for AIDs prevention and treatment, then I learned how he tied in all the money to "abcinance only" teaching by the recipient countries. Not granting a pardon to Scooter Libby was the best move W ever made, by not granting the pardon, W managed to salvage any semblance to integrity he may have ever had. -
Juries have the right to return a verdict given the evidence, arguments, and instructions provided to them. There is no such thing as a " technically guilty, but let him go" verdict. "Jury Nullification" isn't a process you would explain to a jury in much the same way that "deciding the guy is guilty judging from your experience" isn't. Because while the jury obviously has the capability to do those things and for those things to be unstated but underlying reasons for whatever verdict is returned, it's not how the system is supposed to work and it's not something to encourage. I'm not taking sides on this , it's just a fact that juries can do this. They just made it legal in New Hampshire for juries to be instructed on their right to nullification. http://www.republicmagazine.com/news/new-hampshire-formally-recognizes-jury-nullification.html

In the murder trial I served on, that was not an option. During the jury selection, they asked a lot of questions about whether we agreed with the laws and whether we could base our decisions strictly on the laws and the instructions given to us. There was no room for how we "felt" about the defendant or the law when it came to the question of conviction. It's possible you could get some people who wouldn't follow through with such instructions, but I imagine that would end up in a hung jury rather than 12 people unanimously agreeing that guilt was not proved beyond a reasonable doubt. It is my understanding, that every jury has the right not to follow the instructions of the court, and they may simply aquitt based on what they feel is best for this particular situation. juries are never told by the court that they have this powers.
-
I think likely that statement is untrue. All the admissible evidence. Of which I understand there was not much. No murder weapon. No witnesses to ID him. Not even any gunshot residue on the guy. The prosecutors, I think, wanted the jury to just infer his guilt. It's my understanding, that even if every member of the jury was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that this guy was guilty, they still have the option to acquit him. I'm sure you would know much more than I would, but don't juries have the right to acquit based on nothing more than their disagreement with the law, or their feeling that the defendant does not deserve to be punished? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification

Yet they oppose any laws for the same requirments that they demand on their own range?

In all honesty, I did forget, your link is 2 years old and shows that nothing has happened. You could never go broke on overestimating the paranoia of folks by telling them the jack booted thugs are at your front door.

How much experience and competence do you expect in a 9 year old? Not much, the burden of experience and competence rests with the instructor, now deceased. Usually, the under twelve crowd prefers shooting younger siblings or neighbors kids.

It's looking more and more like the myth that Obama "is coming for your guns" has run it's course. www.thestreet.com/story/12857729/1/smith-wesson-swhc-reports-first-quarter-earnings.html

That's telling . . . Yes, it tells that Palin's "death panels" have nothing whatsoever to do with the ACA. Another interesting FACT is that the private insurers have a higher rate of claim denials than do government programs like Medicare. GOP's scare tactics are, as usual, based on disinformation and lies. So the death panels won't exist then? Or is it that she brought attention to it, it was in a bad light for your side, and you just can't help throwing a temper tantrum about it? Don't answer . . . we already know - it was a rhetorical question.

Washington Redskins. Needs to change their team name?

I've always wondered how the San Diego Padres have avoided controversy, perhaps if durning very close games, the whole stadium was chanting "Our father's" or "Hail Mary's" while dressed as priests and nuns, there may be a bit of an uproar. -
What a huge difference just replacing the speakers made, I'm very happy with the sound. I'm also very happy with not seeing any signs of the installation, I was a bit worried about that. Thanks again for all the advice.

‘Respect: you’re doing it wrong’ – Obama bucks tradition, skips funeral
jclalor replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
So you're back to the "my guy is no better than W" defense. I'm simply reminding you that continually bringing up issues that under the previous administration warranted zero criticism, shows you have just a little bit of a bias. I've never used the "my guy is no better than W" defense. I've always used W's record to point out exactly why my guy is better. -

Perhaps you can remind all of us the number of military funerals President Bush attended while he was in office, or how many times he met the C-130's at Dover AFB, that were transporting fallen soldiers back home. -
Thanks for all the advice, I'm sure there's someone more ignorant than me on car stereos, I just haven't met them yet. Anyways, I went to Fry's this morning and listened to all their 6.5" speakers and settled on some mid- priced Infinities, speakers and installation for about $500 They were pretty sure that just adding the new speakers would be plenty. (for me) Their installing them this afternoon.

I wouldn't do it myself, wanted to keep it under a grand. Why not BB? Thanks for the response.

So I just bought a new Rav4, and I'm not thrilled with the stock stereo and speakers. Could the quality be improved by only buying new speakers and an amplifier? If so, any suggestions?

Using what metrics? Thank you. jclalor, over. Instead of concerning yourself with earthly matters, shouldn't you be out in your front yard, sitting on a lawn chair, gazing skywards while looking for a descending Whitehorse?

Using what metrics? Ok... Perhaps a "Million times" was just a tad bit on the high side.

I think that most Democrats have been disappointed when it comes to 44's foreign policy and domestic surveillance. That being said, the left is disappointed only because 44 has swung too far to the right to appease the unappeasable. Anyway you slice it, 44's worst year in office has been a million times better than 43's best year.
