  1. It's always astounding when someone claims the prophetic ability to foresee a fire, but has also spent the previous 6 years continually spilling gasoline.
  2. I have a very high level of respect for combat journalist, I think just as valor can be stolen from a combat solider, I think valor can also be stolen from a combat journalist. Perhaps you missed my post on Williams, from last week. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4703754;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  3. I found my self in Mombassa Kenya in February 1982, while serving on the USS Constellation (CV64). the HMS Sheffield was in port the same as we, and we visited each other's ships and drank lots and lots beer with these guys. They were some fun guys to party with. A couple of months later, an Arginine fighter fired an Exocet missile that struck the sheffield killing 25 of our new friends.
  4. Perhaps you could enlighten me and point out the satire in the link.
  5. So Christians are responsible for the amount of souls that make it into heaven? Yet God decides presidential elections? That's interesting.
  6. And he has the nerve to talk about Brian William's? http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/02/bill-oreilly-brian-williams-falklands-war
  7. You got to try and let some of that "Christian Joy" shine through every now and then, look how happy your JC looks. If you really thought you were going to eternal bliss in the near future, why would you even care about this human government? One of the very few reasons that I ever had any respect Fow JW's, was that they at least try to live with their belief that this world and Government are fleeting.
  8. Instead of going down in history as "America's Mayor" during 911, he's gonna go down as a babbling old bigot. Scott Walker should clarify his own views, he sure does looks like a coward. http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/19/politics/rudy-giuliani-obama-america-love/index.html
  9. How do you know that the girl was not wearing underwear? What aren't you telling us? So I'm sitting down eating my Hawaiian BBQ yesterday, minding my own business when a 12-14 year old girl sits down 10 ft opposite of me. She's wearing a dress and starts picking on her 8 year old brother, I don't think her mother taught her how to act with a drees on. Her legs were wide open the dress is everywhere. It was the most uncomfortale thing to have to see. The only thing I thought to do was get on my phone and surf, it was then I reallized, that to the casual observer , I was clicking away on her. Weird situation, I never hope that happens again.
  10. Physical violence was not the right solution there, either. That said, if you're not invited up there, you shouldn't be on stage, certainly not actually crowding the person that people are paying to see perform. Yep. Where was security on that one? If none, he could have just told her to back the fuck up. Chivarly is dead. My first thought was that Billy Preston seems to be aging rather well. The wost part was watching all those good old boys hoot and holler.

The best way to judge the "Creepy Factor"? Look at the eyes of the girl in question, she looks beyond uncomfortable.
  12. For being almost a year old, I think this is about as good of an explanation as you're going to find In 5 minutes. (It's even animated) I did enjoy you link. http://youtu.be/AQPlREDW-Ro
  13. Nothing beats Psalms 137:9 "Happy is he who smashes the Heads of babies against the rocks" And Christians will tell me that I'm taking it all out of context. The difference being that there isn't a large group of christians forcing people to live according to a literal interpretation of the old testament. Yet.
  14. And when you really need a kidney or a liver: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/isis-might-be-harvesting-organs-iraqi-diplomat-says/ And yes, the irony of using an Iraqi as an intelligence source does not escape me.

  16. I agree it was a thug tactic by Ayatollah Khomeini to scare people into silence. BUT. Here's the back-story that those who both haven't read The Satanic Verses (I have) or know the history of Khomeini (I watched it on the news at the time) don't realize: Khomeini's fatwa had nothing to do with Islam, at least its actual reason doesn't. You see, in The Satanic Verses, not only does Rushdie insult Mohammed (which he does, by portraying him as corrupt and decadent), he also insults Khomeni, by portraying him, too, as a greedy, corrupt and blasphemously self-serving character in the book. So next time you hear someone refer to Khomeni's fatwa as being because Rushdie insulted Mohammed or Islam, correct them: the fatwa was actually Khomeni's way of personally "reaching out and touching" Rushdie in retaliation for daring to publicly speak aloud that the corrupt Emperor (Khomeni) had no clothes. It had nothing to do with Islam - it was personal. The insult to Mohammed was just the cover. Besides the book being insulting to Khomeini, the title alone was enough to drive a large number of Muslims nuts. "Satanic Verses" is a lot more than the name of a book. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanic_Verses
  17. The vast majority of Americans Haven't a clue about the Middle East, they wouldn't know the difference from a Sunni, Shia, or a Sikh.
  18. At least they'd be consistent with my beliefs about the government in general But yeah I don't really like this whole "discrimination against committed but unmarried couples" thing. I don't think getting 90 days "unpaid" off a year to care for a sick Spouse or child has a poiltical slant.
  19. amazing how far we've come when a site that merely digests amen repeats what alarmists and the pro-science folks say is a denier website. I looked at the site briefly. All it did was reprint what alarmists said. So calling it a denier website is calling the people it quotes "deniers." Explain how you manage to defeat the whole paradox of your statement. If the Sierra Club or Greenpeace or Climate Progress or Skeptical Science published it would it still be denier? This is some hardcore cognitive dissonance. The next time you see a post from the left than is similar in nature, please feel free to point it out.
  20. …and to this I ask, why the hell should a couple have to get married for health insurance benefits? Because not having them is expensive? I know a couple that were engaged to be married, had the wedding planned and everything. Big wedding was set for fall. In March the guy lost his job... And his insurance. He had an ongoing medical issue. One of those "Pre-existing conditions." If he went without coverage for any amount of time, he would have been uninsurable. To keep his (then) current coverage via COBRA, it would have been more than they could afford. They had to get him on her coverage. Which could only be done if they were married. So they had a very small, quiet ceremony in March. Only a handful of people knew that they were married for the entire summer. And then they had the big, planned "wedding" in the fall. It was a wonderful event. Nothing "sham" about their marriage or love or any of that. They've been married over 15 years now. But they "had to" get married right away when it happened. Sorry, I could have perhaps worded that better. WHat I meant was "Why is it that a couple has to go through a marriage to prove that they're a committed couple and be able to share benefits?" I'm not married to my girlfriend, and I won't be marrying her either because I think the entire concept of marriage is stupid. But to say that our relationship is any less valid and not worthy of sharing my health insurance benefits or whatever, because we haven't asked the government for their approval of our partnership is preposterous and somewhat offensive. Keep in mind that if your GF was ever to become very sick, government programs like FMLA would be useless to you.
  21. Yes you do, all too often. ( I know my own spelling sucks, I just love jumping on the bandwagon)
  22. Sigh. Being transgender is NOT NOT NOT a choice. I was born this way. I thought about ending it all when I pretended to be a man. When I came out and admitted to myself, my life completely changed. I am so happy. Life is right and real now. I got a lot of positive feedback - I am the one for passengers that are anxious "Hannah calms 'em" But yeah, you may hold my past against me. Lucky me to not have you as m*** You look wonderful. If anyone has issues, they would've been the same type having issues with Bi-Racial coules 30 years ago. 10-20 perhaps 30 years into the future and when this accomplishment is mentioned, most will shrug their shoulders and say" what's all this fuss about".
  23. Perhaps there are some that have forgotten just how dangerous trucks can be: http://youtu.be/le2bPRGvKXE
  24. As M. Gustave of the Grand Budapest Hotel so eloquently put it: "When you're young, it's all filet steak, but as the years go by, you have to move on to the cheaper cuts. Which is fine with me, because I like those. More flavorful, or so they say". A funny line from one of the best movies that I've seen in a while.

    TWA 800

A terrorist bomb? Not out of the realm of the impossible, accidently or purposely shot down by the US Government? That's batshit crazy.
