  1. When I was on WC 10 years ago, the dumb-ass insurance company could have had my surgery for bilateral carpal tunnel done in 2 months. they choose to take 3 years. They ended up paying 75% of my highest amount earned in the previous year, with all the overtime from then, I made more than I would have on a 40 hour check. I got these checks for three years. They also paid all my tuition, books, and milage for three years for me to get my nursing degree. Then I got a $40,000 settlement. And some of you guys wonder why I vote Democrat. Those who rob Peter to pay Paul can always count on Paul's support. It never would have even occured to me to get an attorney if they would have payed for the $800 diagnostic test when it was advised by my MD. They waited a year hoping I would go away, they also did not pay me a dime the first year, state disability did,and was later payed back to the state by WC. Most insurance companys have no financial interest in doing the right thing in a timely manner.
  2. You do believe in a free market not controlled by any Government? You do believe that owners of private assets can do with them what they choose to maximize their profits?

  5. This is a perfect example of why republicans don't want people going to college. It's not fuzzy math, but fuzzy comprehension.

  10. I have seen the movie twice. So when the chief strategist for the campaign and palin's chief campaign advisor say the movie is factual, you dismiss it? Show me where McCain says the movie and the book are lies When schmidt stated the 10 weeks portrayed in the book was true, what was McCains respnse? "I regret that he would make such a statement." McCain knows better than to call him a liar.
  11. I think she would probably view that as a compliment. I wonder why the majority of the McCain campaign says the movie is Factual? I wonder why McCain has not claimed the facts are false? Gee, I don't know. Maybe he hasn't seen it because it just came out? Ya think? I keep forgetting how smart you are. OTOH, the book has been out for a while and I'm sure he has been told the highlights, seeing how he stated he will not watch it. He did state that he was disapointed in the movie and not sure where some of the qoutes came from; sounds like he got the gist of it. Still no explaining away the campaign staff's comments.

  13. Drunkeness and public self abuse is hardly admirable. Not really sure what constitutes one of my "favorite groups" but I don't dislike all Christians. I can't remember the last time a JW tried to teach my child the earth is 6000 years old or insert something into a woman's vagina againth her will.
  14. So, tell me why you and your ilk reserve your vitriol for a Christian who is trying to do some good in the world and as far as you know, has no problem with homosexuality but give Muslims, who have strong religious beliefs against homosexuality and in fact laws against homosexuality, a pass? If I thought for a second I had a Muslim audience here, I would bash them alot more. At the present pace, I see Christianty catching up with Islam real fast in the mid-evil behaivor department. Also, the irony that the Evangelical Christian Government of Uganda has been pushing to make homosexuality a capital offense has not escaped me. They also condone the murder of children considered to be "witches".
  15. It's just like shooting fish in a barrle. Learn to spell barrel, genius. So I type fast, try and stay on topic. The sign of a real genius? Someone who in 2012, still uses the term " Radical homosexual agenda".

Silver says PPP actually had a small pro-Republican bias in its 2010 polling results
  19. Obviously a child is very influence by his parents, more than a school is in developing a childs worldview. How would you explain that over half of republicans from Miss. think he is a muslim? People can dissagree with Obama on policy all they want, I dissagree with it. When people think he is a muslim , or not a Christian, they can never even get to his policy. I never agreed with much of McCains policy, but I always said he was a descent man, like when he corrected the dumb fuck lady who said Obama was Muslim. What does Santourm do in the same situation? I have been to 20 countries, but interestingly, never east of Minnesota.
  20. it's an infinitely large number when you know one of them. But viewed less emotionally, it's noise in the ~4000 accidental deaths per year for children (0-14). The deaths and injuries caused by parents refusing to vaccinate their children rings much louder. You won't find anyone more of a proponent of vaccinations than me, but in the interest of accurcay, I seriously doubt more children die or are sickened by not being vaccinated or exposed to children who has not been vaccinated than by accidental gun deaths. same source lists 391 deaths per year over 5 year span for childen 0-14 due to influenza + pneumonia. And we know that whooping cough have been growing again in the past few years. Vaccines would help. And for the classic diseases, we probably have not yet got to the point where the herd effect dissapates, but we're (stupid parents) are trying their best. So this is a growing problem, whereas accidental gun deaths remains a insignificant (in the whole, not the individual case, as I noted) part of life. 3% of a single cause of death (accidental) means you have bigger fish to fry. Unless political motivated, which despite your protests as a gun owner, you clearly are. The majority of children who die of the flu/pnuemonia already have chronic health issues. There were 0 deaths from pertussis in 2011 in the US. (I did start a thread a few years back about idiots who don't vaccinate their children) I can think of no other pediatric death that is more preventable and tragic than unattended guns. I have never stated that guns should be illegal, just that we pay a high price for the right.
