Jerry had to quit jumping for many reasons, you can still find him cutting grass and hanging around Z-hills now and again. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

For one thing just how many dz's have mirage for student gear, and second how many dz's around just so happen to have an oversized rig built for a brick shit house. I'm willing to bet that 95% of the dropzones in the US wouldn't have a standard "common" on the rig rack H/C that would fit the dude, all the while 99.9% of the dz's would have a tandem rig, and even those may not fit his build. To many people in this sport today go around talking all their bullshit to the noobies and they have never trained someone or worked with special case students, yet they seem to think it's just another skydive and any old rig will do. I have seen 4 very oversized students stuffed into "standard student" rigs and it was clear the rigs were to small for them. One dzo blew off all of our concern with the fit and how short the reserve ripcord was and put them up anyway, guess what, all three had reserves fire on climbout and were dragged off the strut by the opening reserve, and these were S/L students. The 4th one I speak of was BIGFALL who post here and if you want his story try searching his handle. So in the mean time how about pointing this OP to people who could be of some help instead of talking all kinds of bullshit about what student gear he should be or should not be jumping. There are people in the US who own the RIGHT rigs (ones that fit) and can and will train the guy if he wants to jump! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

yea just sit down and turn it on and play around, import some photos into iphoto and import video and play with it, load up some tunes in itunes, check out how easy iphoto, itunes, imovie, idvd, and garageband all work seamlessly together. Making a imovie and need a sound track, drag and drop it into the time line, put it in the wrong spot, grab it and slide it where it need to be. Want to have a still image in you video, just drop and drag it.....

Yea I bet ya he could just walk on to any dz in the world and find student rigs to fit the dude hanging on the rig rack...... Why is it we see so many low jump number people in this thread telling this person a bunch of bullshit! How many oversized students have you trained? For one thing it is much easier to find and use a tandem rig, racers are one of the best for just such training of oversized persons who don't/won't fit into a standard student rig found on most dz rig racks. FYI-the racer tandem rig can be set up S/L, IAD, AFF or TDM. Are there rig that can handle the load under the TSO, yes. Are these the best to use? Not in all cases! To the OP, if you want to jump there are personal instructors and dz that will work with you and have the equipment to train you. If you would like some names and numbers, of those I know, send a PM. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It's is surprising to see how many "clowns" are jumping happy as a pig in shit to give away their digital stills for free or for 5 bucks extra. And your right they are now driving down the price once paid for good stills all the while the cost of equipment is rising. Ok all you flying SD video cameras, there no good from today forward in the industry.....YOU must have HD to fly here and we only pay 40 bucks for both video and stills, you edit and bring all your own tools too as well as pack, well you can hire a packer @ 6 bucks and a editor for another 5, oh and can you burn that last jump and make a 2 minute call, we're waiting on you! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

D B Cooper Unsolved Skyjacking
stratostar replied to skyjack71's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
All you can show is a couple of stacks of cash from the night in question and the feds say it washed down stream, I don't think so. You find me what is left of a body and some old parachute shit hanging in a tree or in a pile on the forest floor covering the bones, or even the rest of the money any other proof you got that says that cooper isn't sitting on a beach sipping on a cool one and burning a big fatty someplace where the weather is great year round and the "powers that be" are on the take or easy to payoff. Till then, ya got nothing that says that he didn't make it out. I bet it was one of your (US GOV) drug mules from SE Asia who made it out of the black operations in cambodia or one of those "other" places we didn't fight the war......LOL, and this special forces dude came home pissed off and hooked on that good dope the US Gov. and their allies in SE Asia were moving to "pay for" the war. 200K would by a lot of smack back then if you knew who's general to go get it from. And seeing how I know a handful of guys who were in "those countries" (but their records say different) that is not all that far fetched...... about as far fetched as DB Cooper couldn't have made it out, that is. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Post the 1st Page of your Logbook . . .
stratostar replied to NickDG's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Ok, well you might notice I blacked out some location and name. Some of the old farts are still alive and we don't want anyone getting pissed off after all these years. See I got one of those old SSE blue books, I picked up a blank one, one day in the gear shead in CO and stuck it in my back pocket and took it home @ age 15 3/4 or so. I had been showing how to do everything for years and knew an FJC from start to jump, well I didn't think my mom would sign the waver @ 16 or give me the 45 or 75 bucks, whatever it was for the FJC. I filled out the page and made it look like I had done 5 jumps in one day @ a DZ I could have done so @ and then had a friend at my high school sign a living persons name and his dead brothers D # to the page and then I forged my mom's name on the age waver and had an office girl use the office ladys notary stamp on it. So I show up @ the dz after a "visit home" with a back dated logbook and they had me hang in the harness and show um my EP's. Didn't take long really and next thing ya know I'm making my first real jump as a DRCP on a T-10 (my one and only till years later, and now we jump one for fun[crazy) So I never paid and took a FJC as a student and my first jump was a DRCP, smooth as silk, got it too and waved it @ my JM and it only cost me was like 12 bucks or somthing crazy like that. After my first cutaway I moved up to the big boy books. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Ok all kidding aside, while I do agree with you that doing a ebay transaction can be a risk and more so if the deal is out side your country. However, I think that the people we see posting in a panic about the lack of lanc are making too much out of nothing. The more things change the more they stay the same, there will always be the small sub-set of users who will find the changes to a new model as a bad thing, many skydive camera operators have come up knowing nothing but the best as S.O.P. and have become spoiled, not knowing anything else, they start to cry about choices they made and the choices they face in the future, without seeing the long term and only seeing their short sighted view. As in the past as technologies made the fast and huge leap in the smaller and lighter world of the last 10 years, a need was there, so someone came up with a way to use the features built in to suit their "special needs" if it's not a everyday consumer or broadcast tool or feature, you can count on it lasting only a few models or years, because it will be made better and change or something else new will replace it, again leading to someone not being happy. For as cheap as you can find used HC- whatevers on ebay for, hell a guy could get two and have one for a back up at those prices, or even score a nice HC-1, 3 or 5 for a "new" camera and those have a lanc port on them. The market is flooded with all kinds of lanc port units and it will be many a year before those all dry up and even then there will always be those dust collectors that are for the most part never used that will show up for sale. You guys all need to chill the fuck out man, it's not the end of the world, if it's that big of a deal to have one then you shouldn't be a tight ass and fork over the big bucks and go pro, so you can have those features today, don't worry about the future, it will be here when it get's here and there is nothing you can do about it, unless your the next person to see a need and fill it with the latest and greatest super cool fancy ass wireless burnout your eyeball record'n light gizmo, then you too can make a few millon bucks to blow on hookers and starting your own clubhouse bar for wayword adult delinquent society dropouts, dressed up as a dropzone. It's all in how you look at it dude, try to see the bigger picture here and not be so narrow minded. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
