No one wants to jump with a newbie :(
stratostar replied to katzg08's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And people wonder why our numbers are in decline. Yep go find another place to jump, it would be best to visit as many as you can in your area and "feel the vibe" of all of them, sometimes it's worth driving the extra miles to avoid the assholes of the sport. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
It can and will, I know someone who went in because of that. If you POB's are not still attached when you land then they are to loose. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Maybe because the guy who owns the strip in Anderson In used to be a DZO and know what a rig looks like and would know the guy if he kept a plane there. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

So how many years jumping camera or camera jumps do we have to have in ordered to be grandfathered? Or do we all get to "start over", also who are the ones who get to decide "the new rules"? I can think of a number of people who think they are god's gift to skydiving & camera flying in the last few years and personally I would care for their input of telling many of us "oldtimers" how to do it, let alone the rookies. There's always some fuck nut who comes along & thinks they need to reinvent the wheel because we've all been doing it wrong all these years (such as should PIA take over rigging ratings), how about greedy DZO's just stop using or letting people who don't have the numbers or real training make the jumps or do the work. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Just go with the larger then size it's easy to cut to fit custom like and all that....dude! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Ritz camera stores carry's it, you cut to fit. If you don't have a ritz in ATL try your local pro camera store, most will have replacement foam sets for cases in stock. Or better yet you might try These guys you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I say go for it dude, go get your set up together without seeking advice here on how to build it and shut up and jump it already! You sound no different then the other 100 jump wonders who many of us seen come & go. What's the worst thing that could happen? Kill yourself or maybe some other lowtimer retard who is stupid enough to let you film them, really not that big a risk your already throwing yourself at the earth and hoping to miss, what could really go wrong, the odds are in your favor. No reason you should listen to all these old stuffed shirts like DSE & Phil, who only try to feed you BS to keep you from getting their share of the video money. Besides that, with out all the stupid people in the sport today we wouldn't have any entertainment. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Have all the riggers started complaining yet?

Yes our rigger is charging 150.00 USD per repack now. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
& My understanding of his post was to say, when Glen Bangs went to the skyscam DZ up in Pennridge Pa. and ran his mouth off talking shit and trying to swoop the staff to come to work for him over at X-keys, that ended up getting the Sherman Anti Trust charges filed against US (the membership driven ORG called USPA) and then we all had to pay out of pocket for Glen's big fuck up. (running his mouth and trying to throw his, I'am bigshot @ USPA weight around) you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Ever since they started using squares and not rounds anymore, it took all the fun out of it.........No more "who can catch the student" game, barbwire fences weren't to hold the cows in,, but the stop those getting dragged along that we missed. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

He's talking about the props spining from wind like a windmill and not from power by the engine, the prop is not feathered and is "fat" to the relative wind, making drag. If the prop is feathered it is skinny to the RW and makes less drag, freewheeling or not. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Not sure the who but I would guess Dar Robinson as a place to start, location smellsmore or perris V. late 70's for Honda or other rice burner advert. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

When I was at your place you went out of your way to visit with me and answered each and every question I had about you & your DZ OP's, So I know your telling the truth in your post here. The only problem I found with your DZ op's was... 1. the back brace in the 182 student slot, is way to far aft for us fat ass oldfarts comfort, you need to move that back a tad. 2. You didn't have any cool t-shirts or bumper stickers to add to my collection. 3. the swoop pond water is dirty and stinks too as well as it's too long of a walk back to the hanger in its current location, you need to get a pick up with cold AC to drive us back. With all the money you horde under your bed you should be able to get fresh water in your swoop pond to say the least. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Or that, but for some reason I thought your moved to NC. or you would have been named. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

You really missed the point here, a few years ago the USPA kicked out for life a shithead DZO's DZ from the GM, yet the USPA never published anything about the actions they took or the reasons why they took them...... A few weeks, days, years later here comes happy go dipshit to make a jump, finds they like the sport and starts going to the DZ in question, and after awhile starts to hear things around, but is told by the regulars it's all BS and crap told by axe grinding former staff and it's not true. Now had the USPA done a real service and published the reasons and the names of the offending operators then the membership and new people would have a record to learn about and then make up thier own mind based on known fact and not as the prop turns BS and try to decide who's story to believe. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

You can't save everyone, you'll be doing good just to save yourself, even if you got a half truth from a friend you'll never really know if the DZO is fudging the books or not unless you one of the close staff and around all the time see just what gets done or don't get done, but signed off. By your own post, even you didn't know the engines were double past TBO, not to pick on you, but after a couple seasons working there you never noticed the plane was having down time for over hauls or 100 hr's. (point is at some point it will miss a weekend) In your defense, maybe you were only there weekends like many and always assumed it was being done on weekdays. Most corner cutting DZO's are doing it (cutting corners) durring the week when the regulars are at their real jobs and with the large number of retards who are full time staff durring the week in the sport, most are to stupid to see it going on and those who do see it are helping to cover the DZO's ass or won;t question the DZO for fear of being kicked off the dz and bad mouth around the industry. Personally, I don't feel sorry for any DZO's or the sport should this hit everyone hard in the pocket book, because those who are above board know who and have known for a number of years those who are corner cutting DZO's and they ALL yes even USPA choose to turn a blind eye to it and hope nothing happends. Hell they even sit around the bar @ PIA/DZO conf. and skydiving events, they pat each other on the back and act all buddy buddy talking shit about how great they are and how great they have been for the sport, no one is willing to call a spade a spade instead is one big ass kissing festival, even more so now that USPA took it in the ass over skyride, don't expect USPA to say shit about the bad guys, and don't believe all the USPA bullshit about how they are keeping you safe when they won't publicly out DZ's (letting you members know) they kick out for life for the very crap were talking about here. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

There will always be at least two loads worth or more because there are so many dipshits & asshats in the sport these days they wouldn't know or care why pink shit is coming out a fuel tank marked 100LL or any other monkey shit and think to ask questions, this is why the likes of --- ---- is still in business even after the first FAA crack down 10 years ago, there were bandwagon riders then and there will be next week too..... as long as they get to altitude and for cheap who gives a shit, hey a got a rig on and I'll get out! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Go fill up a container (small cup open lid) with Jet-A and take your lighter to it and see if you can get it to burn. After that get you a misting spray type container and find a way to add flame to the mist of fuel and see what happens. That type of fuel don;t burn like or explode like other fuel types, it takes more for ignition, such as a fine mist of fuel or even vapor (TWA flight 800) but puddles or streams running out of a broken fuel tank take more to set it off and it won't explode like 100LL or 87Oct. That said it will still burn. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
