  1. How much you want to bet most if not all of it was due to insurance company gains - you know, those people you were ranting about charging so much? Then there is this http://www.breitbart.tv/shocking-audio-rep-dingell-says-obamacare-will-eventually-control-the-people Hardly the reaction that one would expect after a "government takeover". Except it makes perfect sense when you look at it - they will now have to bump their rates and fees to accommodate for the change. So the rise is temporary. 3rd time of asking - how many health insurance companies are in the DOW? Kall you are not going to let this go so I will just say it...... out of the top 10 .... 3 are traded and technically anthem is now wellpoint so 3 of 9 of the top health insurers. 2. PPS - The American Medical Association is in favor. Of the bill or the public option? Bc I was talking about the bill not the public option. AMA statement: www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/health-system-reform/ama-supports-reform-passage.shtml “The pending bill is imperfect, but we cannot let the perfect be the enemy of the good when it comes to something as important as the health of Americans,” said J. James Rohack, M.D., AMA president. “By extending health coverage to the vast majority of the uninsured, improving competition and choice in the insurance marketplace, promoting prevention and wellness, reducing administrative burdens, and promoting clinical comparative effectiveness research, this bill will help patients and their physicians.” Ya I found it.... there other goals are interesting as well. It is a % of doctors but so is the hospital group my wonderful future wife works for..... 3. That is my position. I have a good job, good health insurance, am in good health, and pay far more tax than most. I STILL think this is a good law for the country as a whole. I knew you would have no problem saying it but the other side has a valid point as well..... what about a middle class family that does not have it as good as you but can afford healthcare and gets by.... is it fair to tax them more? I don't know that it is.... I think on paper the concept of this is great but in reality it is not sustainable.... we shall see..... How much more will this "middle" class family be taxed? I believe it will be pretty much a wash for most, as it will for most good employers. Now or if it goes upside down like every other govt. program? I am not trying to throw rhetoric here... honestly though... many are in trouble and especially SS, Medicar/Medicaid. I just see this going really bad bc I have no faith in how our govt. handles money. Is that a reason not to try and do good.... no but it still scares the shit out of me. 6. The problem with the bill is that it had to be approved by the HC lobbyists before it could even see the light of day. Obama met with the insurers and made significant concessions (no buying drugs from Canada, no bargaining for bulk pricing, no single payer debate) so that they would not crush this legislation right off the bat. The insurers didn't like being dragged through the mud but they certainly don't hate this bill and it is no threat to their livelihood. Sure, they'd rather have free rein (or reign) over the industry but they're quite happy with 30-50 million more guaranteed customers. As for the HC workers' opinions on the bill, one of the reasons given in the poll of Dr.s who supported the public option was that with the government program the paperwork was easier. Having different procedures for numerous companies makes things more complicated and therefore, more expensive. I hear the exact opposite... govt. paper work is lengthy and even more cumbersome. I dealt with govt. paper work and that is what I find as well. But if that is what it says then thats the opinion of Dr.'s. I don't doubt Dr's support the public option... that is a good idea but it has to be done right and most of the crap in this bill has not been done right... jmo Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. 7. One question.... if its not all about him then who is it about? Is it all about the ones with the pre exsisting conditions? Is it all about those who live off the govt. and do not or refuse to work? Because your statement could be said to any one of those groups....... Someone has cancer so they are being denied which really makes sense but the fact is I could say to that person "its NOT all about YOU" because there are several people paying that insurance compnay wanting low rates and that would raise them even more. Any person that is being effected is who this bill is about. I wish people would just say what they really feel which is probably something along the lines of "suck it up and pay the money so everyone can be covered bc I believe that is what is right" Well... some see the other side of the coin. 13. Ok.... that one's just too easy... haha.... I see what you are getting at but I tend to read as opposed to watch news channels and the non biased polls show that the majority was not for the public option. Not sure what happened to my earlier reply. I'm a bit busy this morning. 18. Really? There are many that think this really is the beginning of the end by the way. Oh and the majority of Americans are against this bill.... There were also some people who thought the stock market would collapse last October was it? Of course it gain 150 points since the passage of the HC Bill, so I guess you're perfect: PERFECTLY WRONG . BTW, do you recall who that person was who predicted the market fall? And second question; have you paid the marggins on your shorts yet? There you go again being an........ wait I already typed it once and don't want te get banned again but you know what I said. I love how you make things up.... I never said it would collapse and I never gave a month or time it would. Let's review.... everything you type is garbage... its rhetoric you repeat from far left sources, its writing comparable to a jr. highers, and its lies for the most part. You asssume so much and know so little. If you knew dick about the market....... I may actually continue this conversation.... run along now. I am also happy to report to you that 2010 is on its way to beating my best ROI yet which happened in 2009. Get a clue and stop trying to start some pissing match when I did not address you in any way nor do I care to because your opinions are a joke. 21. I'll tell you what I think. The CBO cost estimate was based on the bill as passed and not on the bill as they state it will be after reconciliation. As it is, I undertstand that the bill seeks to limit compensation to physicians. That likely won't happen. Meaning that the the cost estimates are on the low end. Other factors are likely included that will be increased. Second, the funding really doesn't kick in for a few years. So the bill will cost $900 billion over ten years? That doesn't sound too bad until one thinks, "$800 billion of that is in the last five years." It'll therefore be probably 3-5 trillion in years 11-20. Third - governments already spend over a trillion per year on healthcare. Will this bill actually take away that spending? Or add to it. Fourth - does is actually redfuce the deficit? No. It just reduces the INCREASE in the deficit. In governmentspeak, when something is expected to be a trillion dollar deficit, but only is a 900 billion deficit, they call that "deficit reduction." They cheer themselves for spending ony $900 bilion they don't have versus $1 trillion. Yay. So, there are my problems with it. That's just getting started. Jerry .... I want to know what your legal thoughts are on the issue. Not necessarily on the basis of the 10th but on the basis of how this was passed. Does the SC have any grounds to over turn the bill based on how it was passed? Without the needed majority every other bill needs? 23. Agreed: The morale of the story: politics, politicians, and pundits are fickle. The messages don't always flip verbatim when parties change power, but either "winged" side will always say whatever is self-serving that day. The one that's the most symmetric is "suck it, your guys had your chance, and what you're complaining about is the last guys fault anyway!" met by "forget the last guy, by NOW your guy should have his shit together, but he's destroying the country!" But no matter what, everyone is either a lunatic war-monger that wants a gigantic unaffordable military with flying solid gold fire breathing pro-life robot dragons or they are a hippie communist who won't rest until the government is bankrupt from buying everyone personal solar-powered gay unicorns that shoot healing rainbows. I just quoted you.... that was awesome! Now where is that Gold robot..... I got shit to do... anyone who wants to join grab your gun. It's on.... 24. I do not like that an insurance company can deny coverage to an individual based on a pre existing condition but they should be able to charge higher premiums because it is still a business and they are taking the risk. We do need change in the healthcare system but not everything we just got shoved down our throats and that is what just happened. The insurance companies have gone too far forr too many years but now in an instant the federal govt. has gone too far.
