  1. The Third Law of Motion also applies to E-motion. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  2. She's sleep-posting. It should be interesting. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  3. My sojourn in Florida is at an end. I've been here for almost seven years (except for the time I was travelling), and I can't take it anymore. The downside is that I will be cold. The upside is that I will not have to sit through another hurricane watch, and I'll actually be able to make a living. This has been quite the experience, but I'm done. The traffic increase was an omen from God; the sleepy little town in which I live is turning into an Orlando suburb. ...but I probably ought to drive down to ZHills once before I leave... rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 5. I wish I'd said that. Will you be my girl? You already know the answer to that, boy toy. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  6. I've never seen her in person, and the pictures I've seen don't show much of her face, but I've got no doubt you're right. More important, though, Brittany is smart and thoughtful and a nice person. And if she can put up with Ted, she has the patience of a saint. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  7. Fine. Quite bitching, go drink some beer, bang your girl, and make a jump while you're post coital and see if your opinion changes a bit. I wish I'd said that. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  8. I have to admit this made me laugh so hard, tears came to my eyes...and even dripped down my face. But you're still in trouble. Still cryin', rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  9. there is the alternative Does this mean you're going to start stalking me now too? That's not the right question, is it? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  10. Dear Dickhead, I called Jeffie. He has not called me back. I have no idea whether he went to Sebastian or not. If he did, it's your fault, and retribution will be exacted. You, on the other hand, haven't called me in days. Go fuck yourself. Sideways. ETA New Jersey the third week of March. Beck is coming down from the 6th to the 18th, and after that, it's going to take me a few days to get there, because I have some stops to make along the way. But once I arrive, your ass is mine. And I don't mean that in any kind of way that you might enjoy. Bite me , rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  12. Stalking comes to mind! I need a few good stalkers to offset the bad ones. Besides which, even if he's a little...um...well...you know...he still has a great voice. Seriously.
  13. darn, I kinda hope to see a "1st amendment with responsibility" crowd vs. the "1st amendment anything goes" crowd. Those are very fun and informative bits of: reasonableness vs emotional extrapolation types of discussions. But you justed popped that balloon now, didn't you? I'm sorry, dude. If you want to restart it, all you have to tell me is which side you want me to argue. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  14. You mean when someone replies to a legitimate post pertaining to the subject of discussion with something like this? Just checking. Oh Trent... The cause is the cause. Taking the end of the argument and making it the cause... ...you can't do that. Events have a sequence. And the effect (which is what you're pointing to right now) is not the cause. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  15. feel free to think what you like but, don't put words in my mouth. You're right. You didn't say anything like that, and you didn't even imply it. But it is the whole tone of the thread, and it makes me very uncomfortable. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  16. What's a relatively short period of time? I can go a year or more in one phase (with small losses and gains throughout), and then experience a dramatic change. You may not call it obesity, but you're not the person living in my skin. You have no idea how difficult and painful it is to be fat and to have no control over it. I remember one time in particular that I was getting extra exercise, and all that did was keep me from gaining more than the 25 pounds I'd already put on. There are a lot of men and women with thyroid disorders. Some of them are the people you're making fun of behind their backs. And there are other metobolic disorders that cause the same problem. It's just not as simple as eat more, gain, eat less, lose. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  17. Another stalker. Dear me. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  18. Your medical expertise is staggering. And my interest in your education is flagging... you can blame that on my laziness. your laziness aside, everything trent has said so far is correct. That diet and exercise can be blamed for ALL obesity? Well, there was the 50 pounds I gained in less than three months when I was 15. Diet and exercise? Nothing had changed, except my thyroid broke, and the doctor put me on high estrogen birth control pills, all unknowing. It was a double whammy. My weight gain and loss over the years bears no correlation to what I eat. None. I've got more than four years of food diaries--every goddam thing that went into my mouth--and it does not explain the fluctuations, particularly the extreme fluctuations, in my weight. I weighed 125 pounds (almost 5'8" tall) when I was 15. Since then, I've been as high as 205 and as low as 135. Never have these weights had anything to do with the amount of food I was putting in my mouth, but were, in fact, directly related to the state of my autoimmune disorder, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Just two weeks ago, I put on ten pounds in less than three days. I wasn't eating differently, but occasionally, in response to my weird hormones, my body will do this. Most of it has come off, but it wasn't caused by consumption of food or the lack thereof. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  19. Do you ever. I've explained it to you once in a PM; I'll explain to you now right out here in public: a person's personality is not the argument, and making it the argument is a logical fallacy, not to mention totally annoying. He's quite capable of speaking for himself, which is part of what makes him so compelling. I see people post agreement/disagreement in these forums all the time. Am I so different that I should be excluded from doing this? The underlying answer--the driving force--is that I think Narcimund is brilliant. He shines. I love reading what he writes because it's written with a razor's edge. There aren't that many really smart people in the world. Those that I run into, I take note of, and then I do my level best not to lose track of them again. Call it intellectual stalking. But you're still zeroing in on the psychology of the poster and not the argument at hand. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  20. Isn't everyone?? Everything in the world balances. There are a lot of people who are so far from being in love with me that you might almost say they detest me. Better that than neutral, I suppose. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  21. I'll flip ya for it. The big difference between us is that you're getting daily practice, and I'm all talk and no action. I'd say that the former trumps the latter. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  22. Because all of the answers are checked already. It's a BS test. And you know it. Try taking an Omni Score test, you'll see the difference. All the answers are checked "no" when you start. They could as easily be checked "yes." That's just the nature of the software that was used to construct it. (It's actually an old, old test.) What did you do, just submit it without actually answering the questions? I mean, it should be obvious that if you answer "no" to every question, you're going to come up with the result you got. When I was constructing the poll, I didn't want to miss a disorder, so I checked every "yes" button, submitted it, and worked from their list. I already know what I am. I don't need a test to tell me. This is not rocket science. It's not supposed to be tricky. It's just a straightforward pre-screen for certain traits. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  23. Why isn't the test correct? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  24. Dude, do you have some chip on your shoulder or what? Where did I imply that I thought you were a simpleton or stupid? You should calm down. Your post was condescending. He was very clear when he adjusted your scenario, so he didn't need to be told to "look closely." When you responded that way, he just responded back with your exact words. Then he answered the implied "you're a dumbass" tone. Yes, I heard it too. So there's no chip that I can see, or else I share it. Being aware of and sensitive to nuance does not constitute having a chip on one's shoulder. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  25. This is simply wrong. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
