  1. That really depends on the wing-loading. I jump a doggy PD 150 when I want to be on a slow canopy (all F111) but it surfs nicely in no wind. I always do a 2-stage flare on it.. (I also 2-stage flare my reserves) W
  2. The modern Racers are absolutely freefly-friendly. They have great tuck tabs and stay closed better than many other modern rigs! And I've got well over 2000 CRW jumps on my Racers without any issues. If you have a rigger who knows how to seat a pop-top well, CRW is just not an issue (though since he's buying a Power Racer, I suspect he's not doing much CRW!) W
  3. Come on? Don't you want to re-live Proof/Fandango? Another wash day shot to hell! :-) W
  4. CRWdogs use that trick all the time. Its called warping the canopy, and severely degrades the performance. Very useful trick for when you need to make your canopy slow and sinky! W
  5. Skydive Locarno is a short train wide away in Switzerland and it is spectacularly gorgeous! Nice people too.... Wen
  6. I was bored this afternoon so I made up 3 Mystery Dive 8-ways. I did em in Word, and used AAA BBB CCC etc for the slots so you can just do a find/replace on em once you know people's names. Email me at wendy.faulkner@gmail.com if you wanna organize one and want to try mine out :-) Just lemme know how they go if you do it! They sound like a blast! Wen

Mine are both 11 years old, but they've shared litter and food since they were young. Never had any problems but they grew up together. W
  8. Me too! I have a BS and a MS in Math, did computers for a living full-time, and quit it all recently to skydive. I figure I can do computers of some ilk part-time whenever I need money cuz I am good at it too! W
  9. Glad you're coming back to the sport! And don't worry so much about the 12 static lines - it took me 20! Plus a ton more jumps after that. 4000 jumps later I mostly know what I'm doing :-) I'd say give AFF a try, and if its troublesome to you, go back to static line. Both are good programs... W
  10. More is better I think up to a point - if you remember one of Chico's main-reserve entanglements from a few years back, he was wrapped at the bottom of the 4-stack. When the cutaway main inflated, it ripped him off the stack. At the time we guessed that just having 2 people hanging on may have made it more manageable (2 jumpers holding onto the guy with the problem..) 20/20 hindsight is always so easy in CRW!
  11. There's nothing better! I hate having to constantly tie shoes!
  12. I'll join the non-hip majority! I love my non-articulated harnesses - I like my rig snug! W
  13. Ah come on out - I haven't seen a single gust above 34 all day! Most are merely high 20's! W
  14. Yep. Please take comments to the main thread :-) Thanks! W
  15. Nah - my photo was 180 kb instead of the required 120 so it didn't go! Unfortunately I had to crop the heck out of it to manage to make it into the correct size :-( So it doesn't look nearly so nicely framed now!!!
  16. My favorites are always of my friends geeking the camera - this one for example... I've got tons of these types..
  17. I definitely would advise not exceeding the weight limits of the reserve. That's a very important thing. I'm sure Jumpshack would advise you of that as well... I've only jumped very small (100ish) sq ft Firebolts, but they seem more docile than a typical elliptical. I don't think a Firebolt would necessarily be a bad canopy for him. I can't really recommend a size thing just because I've never jumped anything in anywhere near that size range... W
  18. You better be coming up here - you don't wanna miss one of Mark Mark's parties!!!! W
  19. Anyone know of a digital editing system like the analog ones of old? I'm looking for something to speed up editing of tandem videos instead of having to do all of the editing in Premiere... W
  20. My wrap DVD though shows em cutting away their mains and having Dactyl reserves.. W
  21. I recently went through the AFF Cert course with Rob Laidlaw. I highly recommend his course. We did 20ish jumps with him over the course of the week. Every day the "student" got worse - one the first he was stable but just didn't pull. The next day he'd spin. Then he'd tumble. But we worked our way to the full-blown "student-from-hell" skydive and it was no big deal because we got accustomed to it one step at a time. All of had practiced roll-overs and spin stops before the course, but we all improved greatly there. It was definitely a teaching course - both in groundwork and airwork and it was great. Rather than the high-stress military-style courses I had heard about that other people went through, ours was more mellow but an incredible learning experience. I'm very thankful we did so many jumps during the week where we got all of the constructive criticism about the jumps that we could learn from. It was an extremely well-run course... W
  22. That is the "default" configuration - everyone I know who have ordered em tho I've made sure to specify to them all-dacron lines.. W
  23. I'll agree about the Corsair! For various reasons, I ended up jumping one for a week during the Women's CRW record back in '97. For a horribly ugly looking rig, it was amazingly comfortable! W
  24. I'm Wendy and I do have the wrap DVD's. But do some CRW before ya watch em - Experienced dog's love em - but it definitely scares the freefallers :-) W
