  1. Pac 750! I did a tandem video today out of it, and it was less than 7 minutes to altitude and it landed before me :-) The Pac rocks! W
  2. I don't roll the nose but I do bury it to the tail like large numbers of people do with freefall canopies. That definitely helps. The biggest thing is definitely airspeed. Assuming that you're not in competition where airspeed matters, I normally exit last and have the pilot slow down as much as possible. I've exited as low as 55 out of Otters and Cessnas, and am generally exiting at about 60 knots out of our Pac 750. Definitely makes for soft openings! W
  3. Don't forget ebay either. I got my 20" G5 that I'm typing this on right now for $800 in April. All I did was add memory but it had the works built in... W
  4. I dunno but go browse through the pictures of the teams at Nationals. First look at the RW/Freefly teams, and then look at all the pictures of the CRW teams. It might give you an idea! W
  5. For those Texas jumpers who might have known him, I'm sad to say that a young jumper was killed in Iraq this past Sunday. He was a great kid. We'll miss him... http://www.lacanadaonline.com/articles/2006/12/14/news/lnws-nick1215.txt Picture here: http://skydivetemple.com/www/soldiers.php
  6. Hmmm. My CRW rig has a Tempo with Spectra lines in it and has 8 rides - probably 4 of taken to terminal.. I think my luck must suck! The reserve still opens softer than my CRW main does so it never bothered me!
  7. You can borrow some of mine if ya want... Not a problem! You know where I live! W
  8. I've got an AFF rating too - I can fall stable after I cutaway! (Seen some amusing freefalls from some dogs!) As they progress in CRW, if they wish to do so, we do cover more info - i.e what's different in a 4-stack versus a 2.. They see my gear - tail-pocketed canopy hanging out and they've seen me pack it lots - they understand its different. They usually inquire early on about my retract pc and such. And they all get encouraged early on to get Triathalons and Spectres so they can play both ways.. The ones who are serious look for Lightnings... W
  9. And the nice part about starting early is - even if they don't get hooked, they've been exposed to it, and they're not afraid of it. People who talk terrified of CRW are generally those who've never been exposed to it... W
  10. Actually - this years is at http://cfworldrecord.com/2007/ That's why you don't see the new calendar :-)
  11. Typically they do have an A license when I get to em. I used to use 20 jumps as my number because for so many years 20 jumps was the A license minimum. I am also a USPA licensed Coach so that's not an issue :-) I'm legal.. I may be in the minority, but I really don't have a problem doing simple 2 and 3 way stacks - docile stuff, no aggressive rotations etc, with microlines. Its a non-event. What I wouldn't do is what some CRW rotation teams were doing a few years back (not sure if they still are) - putting microlines on their tiny rots canopies to gain more speed! Eek!!! W
  12. It depends on the type of CRW. I certainly wouldn't put someone on a heavily loaded Lightning young, but 2-way CRW with someone like me? Very early. I regularly do CRW with youngsters on 1-1 loaded Spectres and such here as early as 20 jumps. Its just the 2 of us and they're on a docile canopy. I have no issues with it. I wouldn't want them on a 16 way though! Way too much can go wrong there..
  13. The World Record website is at http://cfworldrecord.com The CRW Mailing list is one I run - just another place besides here to get CRW news.. PM me with a full name and external email address if you want to get added to that. W

  15. I'm not in charge of who they mail to :-) I know that the last mailing went out to a bunch of people, and it was supposed to go out to the crwdogs list too (dunno if Brian ever re-sent it) but that got bug-a-booed because of a spam filter thing...
  16. Because I didn't remember to change it until today :-) I saw the changed dates on the email that went out to the community, and made a mental note to change it on the website, but it somehow slipped my mind :-) I fixed it earlier today... W
  17. I had a Jonathan 105 for a long time. Great canopy, lots of fun to fly... W
  18. Awesome! Thanks for all the people sending pictures. We are looking for nice face shots - smiling at the camera :-)
  19. Its a great shot but not quite what we're looking for! W
  20. I need to get a good picture of an AFF dive to use in an ad for a dz. Unfortunately we don't have any around. Does anyone have a picture of an AFF dive they'd let us use? Needs to be good quality. If so, email it to me at wendy.faulkner@gmail.com Thanks! W
  21. That high on a Lightning? I mean really - exit at 1800 with a Lightning canopy and you're open at 2000! I do know Steve Morrell once jumped his Lightning from a plane at somewhere around 250 feet - they definitely open faster than reserves! W
  22. When I was in high school, a close friend of mine was big-time into the suntanning thing which made her look much older than she was. And of course I looked ridiculously young. We were out somewhere - when we were both 17 - and someone asked if she was my mother :-) I was amused - she wasn't!
  23. I'm 36 and still get carded regularly :-) The last time I got under-12 prices I was 23! W
  24. If you find out, let me know as well! Thanks. W
  25. I used to do it all the time on my Cobalt 75 (loaded ~2.1). It worked fine. Just play with it up high. W
