I am just really excited. I did crw this weekend, and it was fantastic! It was a two stack to a bi-plane to a side by side to a downplane. WOW, I am hooked. I can't wait to do more and definately visit this forum more to learn as much as possible. BEER! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I was sitting student position and my hackey got caught under the flap handle. Didn't check before I started leaving and just as I am climbing out I felt someone grab and pull me back in. The pilot caught it in time, thank God. It was almost completely out. I sure learned my lesson. ALways be aware of where your handles are and always check it before you get out. Now, I check it about...oh, 6 or 7 times on the way to altitude and before I get out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

ranch and french together. I guess there isn't any way that could be twisted to be funny, but oh well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

I do the same thing. I go through my jump in my mind, but I do the aactual pulling motion right, left, pull, pull on every jump. I am sure that a high stress situation will complicate things, but at least I know my brain is trained. ---even when I am having malfunction dreams, but, unfortunately, my arms and hands refuse to move in those dreams.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. I believe you should choose one emergency system and stick with it. Whether or not you "need" to cutaway, if you train yourself mentally to cutaway and then pull silver, that is what you will do (hopefully). Besides, why risk having to canopies out...just my .02 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

Yah, but I really don't feel like charging my altimeter every five minutes and then finding out once I get to altitude, "oh, shucks, my altimeter is low battery again!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

oh, wow, it got even better!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just talked to alisha, my roomate tonight. She is signing up for this saturday's static line class!!!!!! People, understand, this is the girl who has given me more shit about skydiving than anyone. She didn't understand. Well, she went up on an observation ride on sunday, and loved it. The door opened and we all climbed over her (she was sitting student). She is stoked and obviously nervous, but she swore about 6 months ago that she would never jump. Tongiht she told me she wants to do it! Oh, what whuffo heaven to live in. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

21(# of friends and fam that came to hang out at the dz for my bday) : 4 (had to entertain the friends and fam) : 3 (first meeker exit, first time getting spankings during freefall, first cat jump) what a great weekend! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. thanks everyone, but it got better after that! After I got offline, I went downstairs to my room to find that the friend that made the tandem jump had left about 15 pics of me landing and in the air, a thankyou card, and the altimeter clock!! I guess he really enjoyed his jump! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

Today was my 22nd birthday, and it was awesome. Last night, all my friends came over to celebrate, and then first thing in the morning, I went to the dropzone with a couple (whuffo) friends who were making their first jump, and one who was making tandem. I got to go up with them, and that was awesome. They finally understand why I love skydiving. Then, all my family and friends came out to the dz and grilled and hung out all day long. People bought me jumps (an awesome present). I got birthday spankings in the air, made a lot of jumps, and brought a little more understanding to my friends about skydiving. Just wanted to share that all with you. I am still in such a great mood. What a great birthday!

That guy is the type of jumper that scares me. I think he was one of the people the old timers at my dz told me to watch out for at wffc. That type of jumper puts everyone at risk. as for the ati, I am looking into getting an audible as well as my wrist alti. The only reason I don't want an audible is because there is a chance of being dependant on it. That is the last thing I want. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

Ok, I didn't say I stopped having hygiene! But, as far as the lipstick thing goes, uh--my lips haven't seen it for a long time. I think it is a pain in the ass, it tastes like shit, and it comes off anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

I pack for my dz. It just goes on my account. I thought this would be a great idea to pay for jumping, but I started jumping more and now I have a balance. I really like packing though, the environment is great. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

I love to wear my tshirts. Actually, my friends took me aside and told me they think that I am letting myself go because all I wear is skydiving tshirts, and I don't wear much make up now. I was pissed. I actually think I am the farthest from "letting myself go" than I ever have been! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

ditto on the brain cell thing. SOmeone actually asked me what was wrong with me the day I got back. I didn't bother trying to explain. THen, they told me they didn't think I should drive home (uh, I hadn't been drinking). I think the loopiness has finally passed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

I love my closing pin necklace. I also daydream and find myself holding on to the necklace. This is prob just me, but when I am back at home, it makes me feel good because I have something around my necvk that actually means something to me. I got mine when I graduated. I get a new one every 100 jumps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

Hey all, just had a wake up call this weekend and wanted to share. I am pleased to find that I am not as dependant on my instruments as I thought. After wffc, the first jump at home I just filled a student load and jumped with the jm. ON our last point, we broke away and I looked to find that I was at 6,5...hmm, wierd, but cool. sit fly, alti check--6,0---wow, I should have lost more altitude! sit, belly---trees are getting wayyy to big---pull. I opened just below the jm, and my alti read 4,0...When I landed it still read 4,0. I found out I pulled at about 2,5. I am sharing this story because I realized how much I expect my altimeter to work, and that is not such a good thing. Use it as a bonus, but don't rely on instruments to do your job for you. blue skies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose

10(no. of days I would have liked to spent at wffc instead of 2.5) : 11 : oh, this will take forever.... first time at wffc first skyvan casa super otter helicopter jump first time camping w/out a tent first time away from dz first bean field landing first time being bitched out by a local first hoop dive first time altimeter broke during freefall (don't depend on instruments!) first time riding a golf cart topless ...I know there is more, but I am at work...I think if I start paying off beer every time I go to the dz, I may still never ever be caught up. ahh, I love it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. I stopped by the dz.com tent.. as far as I remember, I got to meet phreezone and skymedic, and the bytch was sleeping on the couch. It was nice meeting you guys. WFFC ROCKS! I guess I am pretty lucky. My parents are pretty cool about listening to me, and since they have, they have an idea of what is going on. My bro and his wife and kids come and hang out at the dropzone, so they are cool, and I jump with the other brother, so that is obviously cool. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open.
