and another one who is unable to learn the lessons of the past. Perhaps you and Butters need to read up on China and the results of legalizing opium. No thank you, I'd rather not live in a society like that. But. I know, people today are so much smarter and so different. That could never happen again. sre you really preaching about the dangers of ignoring the lessons of the past when my post made an explicit reference to the Prohibition fiasco? Dense? There's no getting around that a large chunk of our prison population are people who were busted for possession. This prevents us from properly enforcing sentences against people who committed real crimes. And from a medical standpoint, it's impossible to justify this jailing for the pot users. In a world where alcohol is kosher, you have to be on crack to say that pot is bad. Perhaps is you concerned yourself more with what I said instead of looking for your next zinger, you wouldn't look so foolish. Hint: I referenced Opium...duh.

Fighters Intercept Drug-Carrying Cessna Near Air Force One
Gravitymaster replied to wayneflorida's topic in The Bonfire
Maybe the entire problem of wandering into classified air space and not responding to ATC was because they were all just stoned. They did have 40lbs of pot onboard. -
If he found the authority to do it, it would be rather hard to impeach him for it. And as to the never gonna happen - may be true, but it's in spite of the Constitution, not because of it. As was asked earlier - why did we need an amendment to ban drinking, but without one it's perfectly fine to ban drug use? How is the general welfare being served by the war on drugs? Not very well. Lot of money being spent, lot of citizens being jailed for acts of sin. and another one who is unable to learn the lessons of the past. Perhaps you and Butters need to read up on China and the results of legalizing opium. No thank you, I'd rather not live in a society like that. But. Promoting the "general welfare" is a Federal responsibility. Preventing drugs from coming into the country is definitely a Federal responsibility. To transfer that to the states is just plain dumb. Even if it were transfered to the states, they would never lealize drugs other than marijuana for very long. Sorry, but the Ron Paulers aren't going to get drugs legalized and Ron Paul is never going to be President. Even if he was elected, he would be impeached even if he found the authority to legalize drugs.

When the Tenth Amendment was originally proposed, the Bill of Rights did not apply to the states; it applied only to federal law. States had their own constitutions and their own bills of rights. Some states also had slavery, which was protected under the Tenth Amendment. The American Civil War made it clear that this wasn't a workable system, so the Fourteenth Amendment extended the Bill of Rights and made it applicable to both state and federal law. For this reason, the Tenth Amendment, while still relevant, no longer holds as much power as it once did.

So does banning (or mandating) a lot of things ... like mandating birth control be included in health insurance plans. Whatever..it doesn't change the fact that making drugs legal does not promote the general welfare. Quite the contrary. Unless you are willing to argue that people being stoned out of their minds is good for society. Whatever..it doesn't change the fact that you don't understand the constitution. PS: I mentioned that drug prohibition by the United States was unconstitutional. I didn't mention (or argue) anything about what is good for society, you did. That wasn't me arguing anything. That was the Constitution talking. Please explain how legalizing drugs and having a bunch of tweak-heads wandering around like zombies promotes the general welfare.

"to promote the general welfare" banning drugs promotes the general welfare.

SOME probably did .. there must have been all sorts of reasons ... for some might be it was just the doughnuts. I didn't think the doughnuts were that bad last time I was in London. Certainly not so bad that I would have hopped on a tiny ship and fled the country.

You have a much different definition of 'separation', evidently. Forcing the church to provide a service that goes against the tenets of the faith is 'maintaining separation', how? For that matter, it's compatible with 'freedom of religion', how? The original European settlers came to America seeking refuge from government intrusion into their religion.

I'm 99.9% convinced this is not the real daughter. Wasn't she supposed to be 16? +1 This has all the makings of a good drama. Guns, lesbians, you tube, rednecks. Yeehaw!!! -
If white people were "racists" for voting AGAINST Barack because he was black, then aren't black people also "racists" for voting FOR Barack because he's black? Can you imagine the absolute fury of hate from the left if a white actor like Bruce Willis had said this about Romney and then went to work campaigning for him? It would cause a nuclear meltdown from the Left.

The real issue here is he used a gun. As we all know, anyone who uses a gun to express their anger is probably a nutter. Had he made a video where he simply tossed the laptop in a lake, it wouldn't have been a viral video. -
Looks like it was drugs. No surprise. http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/13/whitney-houston-cause-of-death-prescription-drugs-drowning-atlanta/

Indian Tribe Suing Beer Companies For Alcohol Problems
Gravitymaster replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Parenting has everything to do with the path a child takes. Attempting to claim otherwise is short sited. Why do some kids not drink? Genetics? -
Indian Tribe Suing Beer Companies For Alcohol Problems
Gravitymaster replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Of course. Now try telling that to a 15 yr old kid. Not all 15 year old drink. Believe it or not, some actually exhibit strength and maturity because their parents are involved with what's going on in their kids lives and steer them down the right path. -

If he had tossed the laptop out a window or run over it with his car, would you view him as more rational? -

It's in the subtext of the whole thing though. The fact the guy thought his gun was the solution to that particular problem says a lot about how he deals with life in general. I'm sure there is a faction of folks out there who think he's some kind of "hero" now because he put a few holes into a laptop. However, it's not parenting; it's childish. IF, in fact, the video is actually real. IS it? Or is it simply a great way to get hits on YouTube? are right, it was foolish to use a gun. A chain saw would have been much more civilized and entertaining. You -
I did, and after reading it I concluded it isn't a surprise that you guys made up American Football because you didn't succeed in real sports like Football. Jesus Fucking Christ, Drive-Through funeral homes....... So! We are inventive and know how to turn a dollar! Problem? We also have drive through wedding chapels, burger joints, BBQ joints... we're a very mobile society! Chuck Besides that, what's wrong with drive-thru funeral homes?

Probably because the US uses underhanded methods to keep us in line. After all, you invade countries for no reason at all, so why not bullying small countries into compliance whenever you feel like imposing your incompetence upon others? So your entire country is just a hapless victim? You would do well living in the U.S. We have a huge number of victims here, too. In fact, maybe the U.S. should just annex you. Whoa, big fella....... Annex a country that has nothing to offer? I mean, how much cheese and tulips can one person digest? An entire country of hapless victims who produce nothing but tulips and cheese would fit in well in the U.S. would probably guarantee Democrat control for centuries. SHHHHH.... Don't give them any ideas.

The vid was a news item from Dutch national television I think, but it was even confirmed by the government. So there's no doubt about it that American officials were pissing all over Dutch sovereignty and were breaking Dutch laws on Dutch soil. But would you be fine with it and wouldn't want to know about it? Depends on why they were here. If they were running an operation to find an international criminal of terrorist, I'd be fine with it as long as no Americans were injured or killed due to their actions. OTOH, if they were here with ill intent such as spying on our military or something similar, I wouldn't be OK with it.
