  1. Exactly, they officially require them to use the name of the country they represent.
  2. If they aren't "officially" representing their respective countries, then why can't the name be changed to the Fed-Ex Olympic Team?
  3. Wrong, as usual. So is it your contention they are not representing the U.S or that they are doing so un-officially?
  4. That's like claiming that the relative calm nature of an American Football game doesn't compare to the violent nature of European Soccer games. Sure they are different games but they are still people gathering for a sporting event.
  5. I'm struck by the contrast between this protest and the Occupy xxx. No violence, no rapes, no drug use, no destruction of property etc.
  6. The difference is the soldier and the Olympic Athlete are officially representing the U.S. The skydiver is not.
  7. I'm guessing the turn out varied by location. Bill probably passed a Chick-Fil-A in San Diego. My guess is there probably wasn't as much support there as in your city. BTW, "Chick-Fil-A", doesn't that sound at least a little bit like a lesbian having fun with a dildo? So you are saying Bill on has a distorted view of the real world because of where he lives? Well, that explains a lot.
  8. Small turn-out?? Are you freakin kidding? I went by CfA while running some errands this evening and the parking lot was overflowing into Starbucks and McD's. The drive thru had at least a dozen cars in line. People were standing around the parking lot socializing. I was thinking about stopping and picking up something to go for dinner but didn't want to sit in line. They set records at nearly every store Small turn out Interesting that up until a few months ago, Obama had the exact same view on gay marriage that Dan Cathy has. It wasn't a problem during the last election and hasn't been a problem up until now. I wonder why the lefties weren't screaming that Obama hated gays during the last election? (as if I didn't know )
  9. Thank God I didn't buy any chicken from him! But I guess I can now. Nah, Obama will be happy as long as you keep drinking the kool-aid. Haven't drank kool-aid in years, so I guess he's not happy. So what got you to finally stop drinking the kool-aid?

  13. No one was trying to prevent free speech. But many of the people who stood in line for fast food chicken today thought they were doing so to protect free speech. A little research will show that the LGBT community is more concerned with the company's actions (donating money to anti-gay groups). I think most people feel that the dude can say whatever he wants, and consumers can take their business wherever they want. Reverend Wright opposses gay marriage. Does that mean Obama contributes to an organization that hates gays?
  14. did everyone have a problem understanding? Apparently you do. "Everyone" includes babies, the terminally ill, the aged, the indigent, prisoners, the permanently hospitalized, and many others who are unable for a variety of reasons to support themselves. odd, they can't also pay a straight percent of the zero dollars they made this year? shouldn't be a huge burden Awwww... Did you have to point out the obvious? I was going to have some fun with him. LAME attempt at weaseling out of your mistake. You wrote "more taxes", not "higher percentage". Same thing. But please feel free to try and weasel out of stating babies etc. pay any taxes at all. Higher percentage or otherwise. Ever think of taking a math class? 0 + 1 = 1 (your proposal for more taxes) 0 x any% = 0 (rehmwa's suggestion re: percentages) Don't be a weasel. Last I checked, babies weren't required to pay taxes. Give it up Prof.
  15. Who says the terminally ill have zero dollar incomes? Who says the permanently hospitalized have zero incomes? Who says the aged have zero dollar incomes? The point is that many of these live right on the line of bare existence. A percentage or absolute increase cannot be born by them. Clearly the everyone that Gravitymaster speaks of is completely undoable. If they are that ill and that broke, they have such huge deductions they aren't paying much in taxes anyway. If they have a lot of money, why should they be exempt from increases if they can afford to pay more?
  16. Chik-fil-A's agenda is to serve half-decent, hot food quickly at a certain price point.

  18. http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2012/aug/1/picket-chicago-gop-file-human-rights-complaint-aga/ PICKET: Chicago GOP to file complaint against Rahm Emanuel over Chick fil A flap By Kerry Picket - The Washington Times August 1, 2012, 12:26PM The Chicago Republican Party announced last week it would file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights and Attorney General Lisa Madigan over the discriminatory action by Alderman Proco (Joe) Moreno against the food chain Chick-fil-A. The party is now expanding their complaint to cover Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel as well. According to a press release, the Chicago Republican Party says that "the complaint states that the Alderman and the Mayor have broken civil rights laws pertaining to religious freedom and the First Amendment in denying Chick fil A a permit to operate its business in the City of Chicago." Following Chick fil A's CEO Dan Cathy's support of traditional marriage, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and San Francisco liberal politicians spoke out against the food chain and threatened to block Chick fil A from opening any business or further businesses in their cities. Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that Chick fil A's values were not "Chicago values." WBEZ reported last week that Chicago's Moreno now wants Chick fil A to put into writing that it “won’t support any groups with a political agenda, including those with an anti-gay marriage stance” before he’ll consider allowing zoning rights to a Chick fil A restaurant in his ward. "If they’re serious about that, and they’re willing to put that in writing and they’re willing to adopt that. I think those are the grounds where we can move forward," Moreno said. "Chick-fil-A may have a pretty good case under the First Amendment if the city uses their religious or political beliefs as a basis for denying a business license or ability to do business in the city. That is the kind of thing that happens in fascist states," said Hans von Spakovsky, a Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow and former Justice Department attorney to the assistant attorney general for civil rights,

  21. What part of did everyone have a problem understanding?
  22. Good for you. I'm sure that poor, oppressed Chick-fil-A dude appreciates your business. I wonder how many other fast-food chains will join in when they realize what great advertising this has turned out to be. I mean, they'll probably lose a few customers, but they'll probably gain even more who flock to eat fast food to show support for free speech, traditional marriage, and the love of God. Yup, there was an elderly lady in front of us. She mentioned that this was the first time she had ever been into Chik-fil-A. The manager gave her meal to her free and thanked her for coming in. That's customer service!!!
  23. Dude, look under the bun. There's a picture of Jesus. You can see it if you squint just right.
  24. In celebration of the right of free speech without oppression from the government, I decided to buy all of my employees lunch at Chik-fil-A today. It was really good and some of them said they have never eaten there before but now they have become Chik-fil-A fans.
  25. Fuck off, I already pay at least a third of my income in taxes :( Too bad. Our politicians in their pathetc efforts to cater to our desire to have a society that is everything to everyone, where lazy people are free to be lazy and every whim is catered to has gotten us into the mess we are in. Anyone who thinks it isn't going to require everyone to start paying more taxes is as delusional as the ones who think it should all be laid on the backs of the job creaters.
