Personally, I would consider wounds evidence of an altercation at best. It's highly unlikely that the wounds are evidence of who provoked whom. Blues, Dave You think Z broke his own nose and slammed the back of his head against the sidewalk?

massive shooting at Batman projection...

That's pretty much what I said, isn't it? -
That had doubled back on him, and was beating the shit out of him while telling him he was going to die. Let's not leave that very important part out. Well, that's Z's version of the events. I wonder what TM's version is? Our prisons are full of people who proclaim their innocence. Do you believe all of them? Haven't you argued the exact opposite when discussing the death penalty? Nope. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3051768#3051768

Won't prevent the shooting that happened today. If he doesn't pass the background check, he will just use another weapon or get them illegally. Guns aren't the issue remember. Guns are not the issue, correct. Considering he had enough knowledge to rig his apartment with explosives, it's very likely he could have just as easily rigged uo pipe bombs and begin tossing them into the crowd. That probably would have resulted in the deaths and injury of even more people. -

Holy fuck people are bad at reading. Gravitymaster stated he would be running for the exit with a gun in his hands. I questioned if that was the best course of action, considering in the confusion some other armed person might think he is the shooter and shoot him. Protecting myself does not necessarily involve firing at the shooter. It means whatever I need to do to save my own life. If others choose not to carry, they should not expect me to protect them. The reason I would have drawn my gun is because if confronted, milli-seconds count. I don'twant to be standing there drawing my gun as a bullet smashes into my brain. That doesn't mean I'm going to be wildly waving my gun around attracing attention. -

My choice how best to protect myself. My point, which everyone seems to have missed is tha I am not armed to protect anyone except myself and my family. I would not have tried to shoot this guy unless I felt threatened. I'm not a cop and there's no way I would start shooting in a dark crowded movie theater unless my life was threatened. -

I'm not armed with the intent of protecting anyone but myself. I would have likely drawn my gun and then headed to the nearest exit. If I found the shooter to be a threat to me, I would have removed that threat. -
Yep.

I'm not suggesting that. What I am suggesting is people get a bit more realistic when thinking about how arming everyone would somehow fix this sort of event. Agreed. How would you suggest we do that? -
Should All Members of Congress Release Their Tax Returns?
Gravitymaster replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
I'd be OK with some modifications of an ethics committee if it would ensure that members of Congress were not voting on laws that they stood to benefit from passing. I also think we need to insist that all members of Congress have their investments placed in a blind trust. -
Ever answer your front door while armed???
Gravitymaster replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
I recently got a knock on my door at 3am. I grabbed my pistol, released the safety and went downstairs. Before opening the door I said "who is it". They said "Police". With my gun still in my hand, I opened the door with chain on it and saw it was them. I closed the door, put my gun in a drawer and then opened the door. I'm having a hard time understanding why someone would open the door quickly and immediately shove a gun in the face of someone without verifying who it is. So either the cops are full of shit, or this guy was afraid of something or someone for some reason. -

Mentally unstable people should not have guns. Now we can argue about what mentally unstable is and how we prevent them from getting guns without trampling on the rights of law abiding gun owners. I'll be expecting an answer instead of another question. -

OK let's move the ball forward. Suppose we get everyone on the same page. Now what? -
Then why didn't you list Teddy Roosevelt?

WTF? Why was a parent taking their 3mo old to a midnight showing of a movie? That infant should have been home in their crib! seriously (and this was even later, I heard it was a 2nd or 3rd run) For that matter - why take a 3 month old to a Batman movie in the first place? regardless of time of day Have you ever tried to get a babysitter at midnight on a week night? -

Lawrocket or Andy would probably know better but, does the insanity defense basically mean that the defendant does not know right from wrong essentially? I ask cause there is little doubt the guy is a nut Thank you for acknowledging that. Yes, he was a nut with a gun. We should probably do something to prevent nuts from having access to guns. What would you suggest we do? -
I wonder how far from his front door TM was? If he was near it and then doubled back to confront GZ, then that would make him the aggressor.
-
Why didn't TM just call the police and tell them some guy was following him? Why didn't TM just run to where he was living and go inside and lock the door?

Yes it was clear. To everyone but you, apparently. probably a good thing, since post 87 was pretty clear. It shouldn't take multiple pages to acknowledge the obvious.

Speaking of lying. How about all those shovel ready jobs and all the others lies Obama told to get elected? Guess you are OK with them, too.
-
A leader would be doing everything possible to pressure Pakistan to release him. Obamas need to thump his chest also resulted in Pakistan shutting down NATO supply lines. I wonder how many soldiers died because of that?
-
The President didn't kill a border agent, drug gangs did. The President didn't kill a terrorist without due process, there was a process, you just arent privy to it. I'm sure that Doctor sitting in that Pakistani prison being beaten daily because he help find Bin Laden doesn't share your glee. I'm sure he didn't appreciate being exposed so Obama could do some chest thumping and have another campaign victory.

Pathetic. You should be ashamed of yourself.
