Sweet - Pre-existing conditions are not all covered
Arvoitus replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
comparing to Canada is a bit silly. When you eliminate the US border (and our mutual assistance) and the polar edges, there's not all that much coastline to defend. It may be the same land mass by surface area, but not at all the same where it matters. It's a fairer question to ask - why does Canada spend anything at all on defense? Holy shit balls! Do you honestly believe that the massive amounts military spending in US are due to the coastline and due to the fact that Mexico is your neighbor? In the past 100 years, how many hostile foreign troops have put their boots on continental US soil? And how many times have armed US forced done that in some 3rd world country? Invisable girlfriend app. For the spineless at the holidays.

Goddamn, I almost want to meet a person who is willing to pay 49,90$ a month for this kind of service. I mean how in the fuck does someone, who still lives in their parents basement, have that kind of money to throw away on automated sms service? Your rights end where my feelings begin. -
Sweet - Pre-existing conditions are not all covered

...no doubt based on the infuriatingly outdated BMI calculation. I'm in the best shape/ lowest % body fat of my life, but because I have the muscle I have the calculator says I'm overweight and a health risk. Elvisio "I'm going to have to pay more if I want to stay in shape" Rodriguez It is only intended to be used by 'normal' people, not by people with significant muscle mass. Any doctor worth anything should know that. Your rights end where my feelings begin. -
Very interesting : Why we don't see things when we drive.
Arvoitus replied to shropshire's topic in The Bonfire
That's probably quite true, except that the human factor is still present (computors are designed/built by humans)... But the truth is people like to actively drive... And for the same reason speed is not limited in cars/bikes (people like to speed), car automation has not yet become a reality. Although there would probably be fewer traffic jams if cars were driven by computers... If people want to get their driving needs filled they can go to a closed track to do it. Besides, if you look at people on highways, most of them don't actually want to drive since they're doing anything but driving their cars. Also with complete automation, there'd be zero traffic jams on the roads. There is a chance that in few years all cars in Finland will be required to have a government approved/licensed satellite tracker in them at all times. Initially my reaction was the basic paranoid evil-big-brother watching and monitoring us at all times. But then I realized something wonderful. Imagine you knew the speed and location of every single car on the roads. And imagine your navigator had access to that data. So instead of guiding you to the traffic jam everybody else is sitting at, it could calculate the best route based on the current traffic flow rates and you could avoid all that. However in reality what happens is that some bureaucrat's nephew's cousin's company gets to produce the device and it'll be total shit, it will cost the taxpayers millions and everybody will hate it and it will be of no use to the average road user. But still one can dream. Your rights end where my feelings begin. -

You can prevent above 95% of the accidents by removing the cause. If you take away the human element you'll have significantly less accidents. I genuinely hope and believe that in the future all road traffic in congest areas (cities) will be controlled by computers. Your rights end where my feelings begin. -
Just realized now that today they're showing the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who as a simulcast in 76 countries at the same time. Its airing 19.50 (7.50 PM) GTM time if I'm not mistaken. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

That 'scary' test is ridiculously stupid. You don't need to see that kind details when you're moving. You need to be able to distinguish which moving objects are threat and which are not. You do not need to know useless details like license plates. When I'm cycling I don't even recognize people around me. I'm constantly scanning my surroundings and everything around me turn into 'white blob moving at x m/s', 'red blob moving at y m/s', etc. I don't distinguish between a pedestrian, cyclist, motorist or anything else. Its just another object that can collide with me. Your rights end where my feelings begin. -
If the sticky tape is attached correctly you have zero change of removing it by hand in case of a snag. I've removed those tapes and I've always had to use tools and significant amount of force to get them off. Your rights end where my feelings begin.
-
What does that snag have to do with the helmet type? The answer is, nothing. Even if he had used an open faced helmet to mount the GoPro that snag would've happened anyway. The full face didn't contribute to that snag. Your rights end where my feelings begin.
-
Why is it a problem to have a GoPro (or something similar) on a full face? Your rights end where my feelings begin.
-
Thats really confusing. The article text implies that the jumpers invented GoPro, but on the video they say that the jumpers asked to become sponsored jumpers for GoPro. Obviously I had to check and the inventor/owner/creator is this guy. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Would you ever consider having children with a friend?

I don't think anything like that will happen neither will humans ever do any sci-fi movie like space exploration. In my opinion humans will drive this earth to a point that will no longer be able to support human life within the next 10,000 years. The only thing I'm really interested, and really bummed out that I can't see, is what kind of species will evolve to be the dominant species after all humans are dead. Do American life insurances cover suicide? I have (in Europe) a life insurance that doesn't have any skydive/BASE exclusions and/or higher rates since it also cover suicide. It did however have a one year moratorium in case of suicide but other then that it doesn't really have that many exclusion rules. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Its even more amazing when get to see it from the hawks perspective. Kinda makes my wingsuit feel somewhat tame. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Like people have said to you, just relax. You have plenty of time from 5000 feet. When I put my SL students out on their 4th freefall (15 seconds) they exit from 5250 feet (1600 meters). Here is a h'n'p from an AN-2 from roughly 2500 feet. I had half the altitude you'll have and I still didn't need to rush anything. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Aww shit I forgot people are put into that kind of situations. Get this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_Portable it shouldn't require any admin rights since you don't need to install anything, instead you just run from the USB stick. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Mandatory minimum sentences for child sex crimes
Arvoitus replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Define sex crime. Every time there is some news story of someone being sentenced on sex crime involving kids the comment section goes crazy when the punishment isn't enough in their opinion but in reality the crimes can be anything from talking inappropriately to kids to actual vaginal/anal penetration. In my opinion actual molesters, you know people who actually diddle kids, won't be changed by putting them into prisons. They need to be chemically castrated and/or put to therapy. I probably worded it badly, but by 'Saudi Arabia of Feminism' I was referring to Sweden. Your rights end where my feelings begin.
-
I guess it depends on the country but in the Saudi Arabia of Feminism, most of the parlament members who identify as feminists are 3rd wavers. So yeah these loonies can have a real and profound effect on peoples lives. Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Why would you be using IE 8? Unless you're using Windows XP for some even weirder reason. And even then, why not just install Opera (or Firefox/Chrome if you're into that). Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Working really well, isn't it? 1945-1989 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_1945%E2%80%9389 1990-2002 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_1990%E2%80%932002 2003-2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_2003%E2%80%9310 2011-present http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_2011%E2%80%93present A huge majority of those are conflicts by small militias from countries with no nukes or larger conflicts where only the other country possessed nukes. All of the conflicts, since second world war, that involved two countries with nukes never properly escalated because they both had nukes. If every country on this planet had as versatile stockpile of nukes as yanks and russkies there'd be a world peace. Your rights end where my feelings begin.
