I've never really understood the disdain Americans have for homeless people, especially considering the lack of any proper social security, which might render anyone as one of them very quickly. I've lived in dzs all of my life. It's what I'm used to. My main income will be coffee and programming though. OP said he was worried about losing a friendship, and he gave us limited info. By confronting her first he can 1) confirm his suspicions, and 2) take away her options. Can't give you 100 grand but I can give you free education. Come to Finland and its free (paid by Finnish tax payers). For instance the University I'm in, only requires me to pay a 90 eur admittance fee for both fall&spring semesters combined. So you'll basically only have to pay for housing, food, clothes, the usual you'd end up paying for anyway. And as a student you can get some pretty cheap student housing (paid by taxpayers again) and if you're willing to eat at the student cafeteria where ever you're studying you'll get cheap meals too (taxpayers). For instance the cheapest student meal I can get is 1,23 eur per meal. Also you don't need to learn the language since most people speak english well enough. The only problem is that most people won't speak to you unless their BAC is above the legal limit so as a side effect you'll probably end developing a small alcohol problem. Unless of course you end up offing yourself out of depression since there is practically no sunlight during the winter period. But other then that, just apply for Finnish University (remember you don't actually need to learn/know single word of Finnish, you just need English) and you don't need to worry about amounting a single cent of student debt.
