  1. I should have clarified: Glad I'll never be in that situation on the male-side of things. (I don't think there's any danger of me suddenly becoming male) And also glad I'll never be in that situation because I'd never have an abortion. For me, there is no decision to make.
  2. Right - the guy has a say regarding whether or not he wants to have sex with someone who will have an abortion, will not have an abortion, will expect child support, etc. Ideally it would be talked about beforehand...but I really doubt that many one-night-stands are preceded with a conversation about abortions. Hopefully in the case of boyfriend/girlfriend relationships it has been discussed. I think it's completely unfair that a guy has no say if a woman wants to have an abortion and he does not want her to have one. The guy could be willing to be a father, but he has no rights and cannot do anything if the woman decides to abort the baby, since it's "her body." That just sucks. Glad I'll never be in that situation...
  3. I've spoken to several friends about this following question and have heard a range of opinions. Men: Do you feel that you should have any rights concerning whether or not a female partner has an abortion? (specifically, if you do not want your partner to have an abortion and she does want to have one) I'll post my own opinion later.
  4. It's affecting the Orlando area, the Tampa area is in the clear. Not much happened here - a good practice run for Oren and Laura and our other hurricane virgins. Lake Wales has been pounded.
  5. It just wobbled a little more north...so it might not head where they thought it was going to. This storm can't make up its mind.
  6. The Florida Surfing League? About 12:30 here in good ol' Dade City. I think I saw a rain drop. Maybe. But that's about it...I'm sure it'll change pretty soon though. Apparently our local stores are out of water, batteries etc again. I went at 7am this morning and got plenty of stuff. They had just re-stocked. I know my power will go out...it goes out even in baby storms. Charley...what a wussy name for a hurricane!
  7. Looks like you had good timing with leaving the state!
  8. weather.com says it has a 19 mile wide eye...
  9. Anyone concerned yet? Doesn't look so good for us in the Tampa area. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/headlines.asp?iws=0
  10. Ahh - I thought you were moving this weekend. Good thing you aren't....soggy cardboard boxes don't hold up so well!
  11. Yeah, this doesn't look so good. As if we need more rain. Hurricane/housewarming party at Stacy's!!
  12. heh...it's kinda nice to have a whuffo weekend every once in a while, isn't it?
  13. I have nothing informative to add, except I read this thread title as "viagra is for gun lovers."
  14. Is there everclear in it?? I want some!!
  15. I'm calling the ASPCA. The poor horse. Animal cruelty shouldn't be ignored.
  16. I couldn't have picked him out of a crowd until a couple of months ago. I knew the name, but not the face. And I didn't know he was an organizer, I thought he was just the dude from the packing video.
  17. I guess the answer to my question is "no" then? I think I offered a perfectly constructive thought. Shirts that identify the organizers could have helped in this situation, whether you think the original poster was right or wrong.
  18. Does SDC have "organizer" shirts? At Z-hills, especially during boogies, the organizers will wear these hideous neon green shirts with "Organizer" on the back. You can't miss them.
  19. Yeah, how'd you like Chuck Prince's speech from an "undisclosed" location? Which site are you at?
  20. I suppose it justs hits home a little more since I work for Citigroup, and my father worked for them for 27 years, most of that time in LIC and 399 Park. I'm not surprised they are going for "iconic" buildings.
  21. Fuck. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5569979/ I know we've had so many other threats, but these are very specific, location-wise.
  22. I have about 50 jumps on my Pilot 132 now. Very pleased. I have no complaints. The openings have been great, much better than my previous canopies. The only canopy I've jumped that has even more consistent (on-heading, soft) openings has been the Spectre. The Pilot doesn't open quite as slowly as the Spectre, at least from my experience. And I'm fine with that... In my experience, it doesn't hunt for a heading like the Sabre2. (but maybe the Sabre2 I was jumping just had something wrong with it) It's fun/easy to spiral, flares nicely, etc. ("Fun" for me, a person who has no desire to go "high-performance" and isn't loading it much at all - 1.09 or so) Maybe you can get a demo from Aerodyne once Rantoul is over. I'd highly recommend the Pilot. And everyone at Aerodyne was great to work with. I have heard good things, and nothing bad, about the Smart, but I will stick with my trusty PD 126 reserve. (3 rides, all beautiful).
  23. 1:4:0 1 nice, lazy Sunday 4 jumps on Saturday...8-ways, 6-way, and a very nice 5-way. Cora - glad to see you back in the air! Had fun on that crazy exit.
  24. hehe....here's a transcript of my brief but funny (to me, at least!) first logbook entry. (an IAD out of a Cessna) I wrote down what my instructor said. excellent climb-out initial de-arch pilot chute around my arm rectified excellent emergency awareness excellent canopy control slight radio assistance high flare hehehe... oh, and with permission from my instructor I logged 5 seconds of freefall for that jump. (from 4 grand) Nothing like a little freefall by yourself for your first jump. Yeeehaaaa!
